Attitude Eras End?
 

What time frame, match, or PPV do you guys think marked the end of the Attitude era?

WM 17.


The last truly great ppv of the modern era.

Soon after this ppv the rock started his movie carer, austin's injuries started to break him down, the crowd started to get sick of the McMahons and of course the crappy invasion era began.

The Austin Mcmahon feud ended and when Austin alligned himself with Vince.it was the end of an era we all call The Attitude Era Every good thing comes to an end and so did thisgreat Era.

Wrestle Mania 18. Stellar card that was capped by the Rock/Hogan match. Past meets present made me relize that they were moving on.

I don't think there was any real particular moment that marked the exact end of the Attitude Era, but like Pinnacle Charisma said, the last big hurrah was WM17. Afterwards, through 2001 to the present, everyone who made the Attitude era what it was either changed their gimmick or just left altogether, and the landscape of who was or wasn't a big name changed again.

It's already been said, so let me say it again...

Best PPV of the modern era, more then that Attitude was all about flipping the bird to your boss, drinking beer, and saying SUCK IT....one of those things had been dead for a while, the other two died on that night. The Rock, Austin wanted hugs, Trips (Back when he actually WAS the best in the business) has his leg problem within a few months, we started up with the unholy shit known as the InVasion of wCw (God I hate having to cap the V and lowercase the w's). Yeah I would say that April 1 (if memory serves me correctly) of the year 2001 was the day the tombstone was planted...WWF greatest and saddest day.

I agree, after X-7, it died. WM 18 was like the last good thing to come after that.

The Invasion was by far the worst thing I can ever remember. In fact, it was during the Invasion and that shite stained format of nWo in WWE that I turned off WWE for like 2 years.

But the Invasion still had trails from the Attitude Era. The WWF's faction represented the Attitude Era, battling WCW/ ECW. The finale at Survivor Series really signified its end, because after that there was no longer a median between the two rosters, and the talent had to really come together to make something new.

I'd have to say that Austin/McMahon handshake at WM X-Seven, or when Booker T invaded King of the Ring (beginning the Invasion)

The second that Austin shook hands with Vince McMahon at WM 17. Just went against everything the Attitude Era stood for.

Yeah, Survivor Series 01 was the first time I ever watched a wrestling event of the pro variety and I've been hooked ever since...I still remember watching WM X8 on PPV, and it was pretty good compared to most of the other WM's I've seen since. The only one that comes close is XIX and even that was mediocre at best. Now that's sayin' somethin' folks!

it ended when when aol sold wcw to vince and ecw went out of bussness.

When Austin shook hands with Vince, turning heel. Why they thought it was clever to do that in TEXAS is beyond me. It did feel like it needed a shake up - face Austin, heel Vince and heel HHH had been done, something needed to change. Hindsight is always 20/20...

When they followed the heel turn with the three months of pushing the wrong guys, not focusing strongly enough on the guys that should have been pushed (or were, but in a half-assed way)...followed by the complete and utter botchment of the Invasion. I love how, after all the potshots taken at how WCW was incompetent, Vince McMahon booked WCW worse than WCW ever did.

And of course, the total balls up of people that could have helped like Jericho, RVD, Eddie...etc....

The booking crew fucked it up after that so much, Steph and the Hollywood Boobs are terrible. Meanwhile, Paul Heyman is producing some awesome TV down in OVW, and Vinnie Mac is completely oblivious. Or ignorant, whichever.

I realise I've gone completely off-track, but dammit, c'mon WWE, pull your finger out of your ass.

From WWE's standpoint it ended when WWF became WWE but like everyone else WM 17 was the end of the Attitude Era.

I always felt that Vengence 2002 was a big turning point in wrestling. This was the event with Rock VS Taker VS Angle
