WWE lowballs Benoit?

Chris Benoit: We have gotten emails today asking us about rumors that Chris Benoit's contract will expire this month and that he has been lowballed by WWE (much the same way Christian and the Dudleys were). All I can tell you is we have heard the rumors too. Beyond that, we don't know any more than that but as is the case with Christian, if Benoit is free and clear, TNA has an offer ready and waiting to go. While it seems insane that WWE could drop Jim Ross, Christian and Chris Benoit into TNA's laps at the most advantageous of times, it appears that is exactly the case right now.

Bad thought.

And the WWE won't let Benoit go anyway.

Xero 11-04-2005 05:59 PM

If more guys are fired and all of them show up on TNA, I'm calling shenanigans.

Seriously, Vince can be an idiot, and he listens to Hunter a bit too much, but releasing three of his most loved and/or over talents? Vince is either in cahoots with TNA or he's trying to run Pro Wrestling into the ground. He's the one who made it, and by God, he's the one that will kill it.

Destor 11-04-2005 05:59 PM

It's just a rumor as of now but this could be interesting to see how this develops, if at all.

lmao, I agree, something is up. Either he's a real fucking moron, or something is going on........

Kane Knight 11-04-2005 06:03 PM

Vince Plantered this rumour to get our hopes up. :shifty:

Nervous Ferret 11-04-2005 06:07 PM

Or TNA is owned and operated by the WWE. Where you be Shadow?

Yeah I think even if this is true, WWE won't let him go. Vince might be an asshole, and a weirdo, but he has to know letting Benoit to go TNA could be a mistake.

Wait...Benoit vs. Roderick Strong...Benoit vs. American Dragon...

let him go Vince, he sucks

Benoit is one of the few guys in the WWE that could actually mesh to there style (and add a lot more to it, imo.) This would be the greatest coup TNA could have ever wished for, provided this takes place. Weather it be the X Division or the main event scene Benoit could find his niche, and do wanders for either of them. Personally I would put him in the main event scene (for obvious reasons) but Benoit vs the X Division talent would be entertaining since he would more or less force them to incorporate some psychology in their matches.

UmbrellaCorporation 11-04-2005 07:07 PM

I think all of these articles about underrated talents that have been or possibly COULD be released are just bait for Lesnar.

He's going to get all of the people on the internet into one spot...

After that, you know. Here Comes The Pain and all. :shifty:

Savio 11-04-2005 07:28 PM

is Benoit his real name?

LK 11-04-2005 07:31 PM

It is indeed, Paul

Destor 11-04-2005 07:32 PM

Yeah, it's his real name.

Nark Order 11-04-2005 07:36 PM

Doubt they could use "The Crippler" or "The Rabid Wolverine" though.

McLegend 11-04-2005 07:54 PM

Hope this is true

NTN (No Teeth Necessary)

4 reel (Once he starts using the Fisherman's Suplex)

Mister Roboto.

V 11-04-2005 08:11 PM

Jim Ross is seriously fired?

samichna 11-04-2005 08:12 PM

I am gonna start watching both products I think, cause shit seems to be heating up a bit.

Funky Fly 11-04-2005 08:13 PM

Do they have "The Crippler" trademarked? It seems to me that they've been shying away from calling him that over the years.

Loose Cannon 11-04-2005 08:13 PM

sweet

Corkscrewed 11-04-2005 08:20 PM

Wow. He'd make a very legit NWA champ. Heck, the most legit champ they've had in years basically.

...If this is true. Talk about fucking SD! again if it is though.

I thought JR was just going to be in a off-TV role...

Skippord 11-05-2005 01:14 AM

I thought that as welll. I don't recall him ever being really fired from the company.

Anyways, Benoit in TNA I think could be really good. He's going nowhere in WWE, unfortunately, and TNA would have to be retarded to not utilize him to his fullest potential.

Mr. Nerfect 11-05-2005 03:04 AM

Jim Ross is under contract until sometime in 2006, I think. If JR really loves the wrestling business, and loves to call matches, I really think he'll stiff the WWE for TNA. Mike Tenay & JR could cover each area required by commentary so well.

The WWE won't let him go, though, nor will they Benoit. If I was Chris Benoit, I'd demand a whole heap of crazy shit. Other options are opening up, and Chris Benoit is a big enoug mainstream star to make an impact (pun intended, I guess) if he showed up in TNA or ROH.

...Now if only Chris Jericho hadn't had signed with WWE, again.

Skippord 11-05-2005 03:43 AM

Benoit:Alright I need six German whores a donkey and some waffles if I'm gonna resign

McLegend 11-05-2005 10:16 AM

This rumor better be true

Pepsi Man 11-05-2005 11:01 AM

Yeah, Jim's just going to quit the WWE after ten or eleven years this stint.

Jesus. It's amazing how fast rumors start swirling in the wrestling industry.

We're not talking about what COULD happen. Hell, Batista, Carlito, and Kurt Angle COULD all "jump ship" when their WWE contracts come to an end, but I thought this was about what's likely to happen.

Who says that JR is going to quit? Maybe the WWE just won't renew his contract if Styles works out for them. Maybe they'll offer him a lower salary and he won't accept it, like Christian.

Just because he's been with the company for 10 years doesn't mean he can't or shouldn't jump ships. The WWE is shitting on a lot of their loyal employees, including the Hebners.

Yeah, the Hebners did nothing to warrant what happened to them.

Xero 11-05-2005 11:20 AM

Brian? Dave? Earl, maybe, but Dave was never proven to be part of it and Brian had absolutely nothing to do with it other than the fact that he's a Hebner.

Kane Knight 11-05-2005 11:31 AM

He should have thought of that before he became a Hebner.

Stickman 11-05-2005 12:44 PM

What did wwe do to the hebners

hb2k 11-05-2005 12:48 PM

Jim Ross isn't fired, so him being dumped into TNA's lap is a pretty stupid thing to say by Scherer, seeing as he still an executive.
