Has anyone bought the Bret DVD?
I bet its a great release. Any opinions from someone that has watched it?
|
I was going to buy it yesterday, but since I didn't have money I didn't......so I might just wait for Christmas and ask for it then.
But yeah, I reallyl want it and there's a chance I'll buy it soon. The match listing is so good it's disgusting. |
I heard that the HF/Bulldogs match was an incredble match on there. I have to wait till next Tues.
|
I bought it and just finished watching all of disc 1. I thought the main feature was really well done although they seemed to go through his WCW years really quick. It was an awesome watch, everyone needs to check it out.
|
How long was his documentary?
|
Just downloaded it! Excellent DVD!
|
Bought it today, looking forward to watching it. Also looking forward to bastardizing a lot of the moves I see on there. :) Nothing like starting out in wrestling and throwing all kinds of shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.
|
May I remind you all that Bret will be on Byte This tonight. I figure some may have forgotten cause of what has happened this week.
|
I really enjoyed the documentary, however, I agree that they could have spent a little more time about WCW.
I like how Bret pays tribute to his fellow wrestlers who have passed away over the last few years (Perfect, Bossman, Hawk, Pillman, etc). Great DVD, go buy it! |
I got it on my netflicks list.

In the process of watching it now, and... as Joey Styles would say... "Oh my GOD!"
Great DVD |
Bret Hart is my favorite wrestler of all time, but watching it like it was weird he knows he is the best wrestler. He isn't afraid to say he was better then others, like at times it could be confused as him having an ego. I felt weird with some of those parts.
In regards to how long it was, the main program was just over 2 hours. And about the extra included about those who have passed on, I agree that was a very nice. Also on the dvd I liked hearing the Owen prank calling Stu story, wish he told some more Owen stories. Also the way Vince opened the dvd was very classy I thought. |
I can't wait to get it. It's released in Canada on November 22

I heard there is no Ventura commentary on the SNME match with the rockers. I also heard that the sound of the Bret/Austin WM 13 match was poor.
|
How good and how long was the White Plains match vs Owen? Many wrestlers including Bret said it was the best match they ever had.

Shawns ego must have been huge back in the 90's right after he beat Bret for the title he wanted Bret out of the ring ASAP.
|
That kinda of pissed me off, and will probably ruin that moment for me.^^^^
|
I am glad Shawn changed his life around, and I like him. But the way guys talk like Bret Austin etc. He was a pain in the 90's.

I'll order it from amazon or something soon
|
I just bought it, but the two flaps (for Disc 2 and Disc 3) are like stuck together. All's I can see is Disc 1 and I can't open it any further.....lol, I'm eventually gonna ruin this opening it.
Edit: Just opened it, there was just some like ultra sticky tape (or something) holding the flaps together. |
Bought Tuesday, still looking at it and I must say what a great DVD. I just finished watching the SummerSlam 91 match and it made me miss Hennig even more.
And a big LOL to one of the easter eggs as Hart talks about some of the predictable moves he wouldn't do, which, sound like most moves done by a certain heartbreak person. |
2nd best Doc after ECW and 2nd best match selection after Flair.
What I liked- Every match was great, solid doc, stories that Bret told. What I disliked- Some matches were repetive: the ONN match with Taker while an AWESOME match was just relased on the Taker DVD. (for the Taker DVD, that should have put the RR 96 encounter which Taker won, had that lead to the Diesel match on there and put the ONN exclusively on Brets) The Wrestlemania matches while great are on anthology. You could have put the SS 96 encounter with Austin and instead of the Nasty Boys match put the 2/3 falls with Demolition on Summerslam 90. I am glad they put the Owen tribute match on there for Bret's but I have always wanted to see the Mayhem rematch. Bret had many matches to choose from for this DVD, I wish Bret/123 Kid from RAW in July 94 didnt get cut however. I wish a Stampede match vs Dyamite Kid was on there as the matches looked great. Overall 9/10 (get it this week at best buy for 19.99 as a special as its regularly priced 27.99) |
By the way Best Buy is not selling Anthology in the seprate volumes, I ordered Vol 1 by mail but also want Vol 2, BB had it but they said it was acidently put there and they were only allowed to sell Anthology altogther, I told them everyone sells they volumes indvidually but they said thats what BB wanted, they apoligzed to me and were courteous, but they just lost 50 bucks of business.

LOL @ the best buy plug.

Walmart it was 18.88

Has anyone ever seen the Bret/HBK ladder match for the I-C title in Aug 92? Not a long match but a great match. Thats a Bret match I forgot all about.

Was Bret Hogan the planned Main Event for WM 9? Hogan talked about it in his book and Bret covered it on the DVD. Was it planned for it to be or did Bret not want to drop the title to Hogan thus the Yoko switch happened?
|
Personal opinion:
The White Plains match against Owen Hart is NOWHERE NEAR the WMX match they had together. Don't get me wrong, the match is very good still, but I'm sure there were other matches that could have taken it's place. I will say however that the ending is the weakest ending I've ever seen in my life. |
Rating the matches
1. vs Bulldogs MSG- This is what tag team wrestling should be, frequent tags scienftic/submission etc. Excellent 15 min match 9/10 2. vs Killer Bees MSG- I thought this match would be a squash, boy was I wrong and impressed. Great tag team match that lasted 20 minutes. I enjoyed this as much as the Bulldogs match 9/10 3. vs Ricky Steamboat Boston Garden- All i can say is WOW, great 15 minute match. A classic in my opinion. 9.5/10 4. vs MDM- great match, Bret and MDM knew how to put on a match. However no commentary at all what so ever annoyed me and affected the rating. 7.5/10 5. vs Rockers SNME Great ten minute match. However no Ventura Commentary. Match ended in a Double DQ when Demolition interfered. 8/10 6. vs Nasty Boys WM 7- Decent match, I would have perferred the 2/3 falls demoliton match but regardless a good battle. 7/10 7. vs Mr. Perfect Summerslam 91- One of my all time favorites. Whats amazing is Perfect wrestled this match with a serverly injured back. Back and Forth action. Hennan is priceless in this one.(Hennan )''Dont grab that ref Perfect'' (Gorillia) why Brain it will be a DQ'' (Hennan) Then nail him!!! 10/10 8. vs Bulldog Summerslam 92- One of the best matches of all-time 25 minute match that had many false finishes after another in a time were there was not many Hennan was priceless in this one as well. However while I think Vince was great I wish Gorilla called the match as he had the chemistry with Hennan 10/10 9. vs Bigelow- Solid match, Bam Bam had some good matches with guys like Bret and RVD. However Commentary is entirly in spanish 7/10 10. vs Perfect KOTR- Great match however not as good as the first. Perfect teased heel turn with his rough tatics throughout the match. 8.5/10 11. vs Owen WM X- Best opening match of all-time, incredible 20 min battle with Owen pulling off the upset. 9/10 12. vs Owen Action Zone- Great match with a lot of action. However not as long as the WM or Summerslam matches (about 14 minutes) and you would think that Owen would kick out of the rollup that Bret used to beat him. 8/10 13. vs Hakushi- another solid opening match. A good high flying/scienftic 15 minute bout. This match was Hakushis first loss in WWE. It was a shame that they jobbed him out later on 8/10 14. vs Diesel- One of Nashs best matches ever. a 25 minute bout that you didnt know who would pull it out. Brets surpise rollup to win the title was shocking to me at the time as I thought Diesel was getting ready to retain the title. The begin of Nashs heel turn. 8/10 15. vs Bulldog- A grueling 20 plus minute matchup with a lot of blood. Not as good as their Summerslam 92 encounter but that would be hard to top. I enjoyed the match but didnt like the ending 8/10 16. vs Austin WM 13- 22 minutes or great action, This began Stone Colds popularity and started Brets heel turn. However the sound is a second or two behind which is a little bit annoying. 7.5/10 17. vs Taker- ONN This 30 minute bout is the best Bret/Taker match ever. Only the DQ detracted from the match. I am shocked they never aired this match in the U.S. until this year. 9/10 18. vs Benoit- What a tribute match for Owen. Possibly WCW's last great match. A scienftic wrestlers dream match. This should have been the main event for Nitro instead of going against the start of RAW at 9 PM. 10/10 |
Um, for those of you who have the DVD, if you watch the match against the Nasty Boys, they show a little boy in the crowd.
He looks EXACTLY like M. Culkins (the kid from the Home Alone's, not sure how to spell his first name.). Does anyone by chance no if that is him?? It's kinda weird. |
Yeah its him they even talk a little bit about home alone and Hennan mentioned he was rascal or something like that.
