This aired during Smallville tonight.

Everyone knows my feelings on Superman Returns, and this trailer didn't help any. :foc:

Oh yeah, and Smallville kicked major ass tonight.

Here's a more high-res version. Click full-screen, QuickTime required. I just watched it again, and I can't believe that this crap is happening.

I dunno, seems like Superman 5 to me, except for it being a remake and all.

Brian Singer left X-Men for that?

Jason Cage 11-17-2005 11:11 PM

This barely showed anything that would have me "dang! look at that 2 second shot right there..this movies gonna be sick"...nah wasnt any of that hapennin'

Fox 11-17-2005 11:41 PM

Could be good.

With the Marlon Brando voice over and the old Fortress of Solitude music it gave me a little bit of nostalgia, since I was in love with the original when I was a kid. I loved what Bryan Singer did with X-Men 1 and 2, so I have faith that he'll make a good Superman movie as well.

Oh, and the guy who plays Superman in this actually doesn't look half bad in the suit.

From what little you see in this I can say that the film looks waaaaaaaay too dark to be a Superman movie.

Batman is dark in a dark city.

Superman is supposed to be light in a light city.

When I say that, I get attacked for being a "fanboy". Cruel world.

Shutup fanboy!!

:shifty:

Can't say I'm entirely impressed. I don't think it'll be downright awful, but like Gouda said, Superman's one of those things where "make it darker" doesn't make it better.

Still, considering it's a Bryan Singer movie, I'm just glad Superman doesn't look like this:

It's not a remake. The old Donner film is used as a reference point (hence Marlon Brando’s Jor-El speech) and sets up as a "what if".... like what if after superman 2, superman takes off for 5 years. that's the basic reason for the "returns" bit to the title.

i, for one, can not wait for this movie to be released. looks to me as if Singer really is going to make this one work (thank god he left the x-men franchise when he did... with or without him, Fox is destroying that one).

i think it's supposed to be that way at first. i mean, really, the ultimate boy scout has been gone for 5 years. this is a world without a superman. i would imagine it would be just a little bit darker than usual.

Superman develops at addiction to crack and gets HIV off a hooker. Now that would be cool.

Then he leaves earth for 5 years, only tempted back by an Oprah special

So, I'm curious, what is your problem with the new movie? Please don't tell me you are one of these ubernerds that believes that the one and only true superman is now Tom Welling.

Innovator 11-18-2005 02:59 PM

The teaser didn't show enough to get a good judgement, but it's Superman so I'll see it definitely

Word. Again it's only a teaser. It was made to strictly clue in the millions of people this weekend going to see Potter that a new Superman film is coming. I'll wait for a final trailer before I make any judgment calls, although I don't personally feel one should judge a movie simply by the trailer.

Boondock Saint 11-18-2005 03:25 PM

And personally I think Smallville sucks. ;)

Funky Fly 11-18-2005 04:44 PM

I don't like the 3dish logo. They shouldn't have fucked with the logo.

Did you not see Lois's striptease from a couple weeks ago?

Remember all of those horrible Superman movies they did with that crippled guy?

This should be a decent upgrade as long as Ben Affleck stayed away from it.

Affleck is playing George Reeves (the ORIGINAL superman) in a movie called "Truth, Justice, & the American Way"
