Drugs and Wrestling.

Due to all the recent events I have been wondering how common drugs are in wrestling, I don't mean steroids either. I mean heroin, ecstacy, cocaine, LSD, etc. I've heard a lot of wrestlers are/have been on drugs, I've heard that:

Jake Roberts
Road Dogg
Steve Austin
Eddie Guerrero
Jeff Hardy
Rob Van Dam
Brian Christopher
Bam Bam Bigelow
Billy Gunn
X-Pac
Mr. Perfect
Hawk
British Bulldog

Have been or are on drugs. Can anyone confirm or deny any of these? I know Eddie was on liquid heroin (R.I.P) and am sure that Roberts was or is an addict, and RVD and Jeff Hardy are apparently potheads.

But how common are drugs in wrestling? Or alcohol addiction? If you know any other supposed drug-addicts or alcoholics please say. Thanks.

Maybe this should be in Q&A but I think it could be an interesting topic to discuss, and no-one really gives a shit about Q&A anymore.

So yeah, discuss :).

And about half the roster are probably hooked on pain killers. IT's not hard narcotics, BUT it'sdangerous, it's a drug (IT's drugs), and it's prevalent.

Mr. Perfect's death was caused by cocaine, and I think the Road Dogg lost his job with WWE because of drug-related issues. Also, Hawk's drug problems were talked about on the Road Warriors DVD.

I'm not really sure how common they are in wrestling though.

Road dogg is a pot head -

I remember an interview I think it was with Miss Hiatt (or someone ) where she stated that bret used to take cocaine before a big match..

I think thats utter balls

Shit, sorry about double thread.

Yeah I heard about Regal too. I didn't know about Hennig's death, and I didn't know Road Dogg was a pothead, I heard he was fired for alcohol abuse? ANd I haven't seen the Road Warriors DVD.

Thanks :y:

The guys who did in the 80's were...well, everybody. Except maybe Bob Backlund.

Billy Gunn doesn't take drugs....does he?

Wrestler's don't take drugs more than anybody else. They might get drugs more readily but it takes the addictive personality to get hooked on that stuff. I can garuntee you drugs are EVERYWHERE, and a hell of a lot more people than you think are hooked. Lawyers, Businessmen, firemen, cops, military, bankers, pimply kids at Mcdonalds do drugs. A lot of people hide it better than others. The druggies in the streets are there because they have no place to go or are mentally ill. Druggies are everywhere, don't be so naive to think wrestlers do drugs more. For are you know, your best friend, brother, sister, mom or dad could be on drugs.

Considering pro wrestling's lead addiction is PAIN KILLERS, and they're in a job that's more demanding than most occupations (At least cops get time off if they're injured on the job, rather than working another 6 weeks, getting minor surgery for something that could have been averted, and being thrown back to the wolves), I'd say that this is total shit.

But hey, I'm sure your armchair MD is better than anything I could say, so whatever.

I'd say of all drugs, painkillers are probably the most prominent in wrestling because of all the physical demenda. Marijuana maybe comes second or sleeping pills because of the late nights/early mornings.

Yeah I know, I didn't say wrestlers took drugs more than anyone else. And I am aware of how much drugs there are available out there. But I get what you're saying, although I'm positive none of my family are on drugs. *Searches through parent's wardrobe*

hand in hand, like WWE and "Creative"...

=D

BigDaddyCool 11-20-2005 04:00 PM

firstly, there is a huge difference between potheads and drug addicts. Weed doesn't do that much serious damage to anyones health, especially when compared to hard drug or even alcohol. Not that I'm condoning weed, I'm just saying lumping potheads in with junkies isn't right.

secondly, yeah there are a lot of wrestlers who do drugs, but is it really any of our business?

LK 11-20-2005 06:46 PM

I do believe that the Undertaker suffered from substance abuse early in his WWE career although I'm not sure what it was that he took.

Pain killers are hard drugs. Most illegal drugs, like herione, started out as pain killers.
