Kurt Angle/Daniel Puder shoot fight
What happened here? I know Puder almost disabled Kurt last year
|
Well, Kurt squashed Chris Nowinski(?) then Dan Puder volunteered, he was supposed to just let Kurt squash him, but Puder wanted the fans to think he was tough and wouldn't go down when he was suppossed to. Do'nt know how Angle almost got injured?
|
It wasn't Norwinski.

If memory serves me correctly, the Tough Enough contestants were having a contest for squat-thrusts, with the winner getting to face Angle. Someone (Nawrocki, I think) won, and Angle pinned him within 30 seconds. Angle asked who else wanted to try him, and Puder volunteered.
Puder put Angle in a keylock submission, Angle was trapped and the ref made the decision to count a pinfall even though Puder's shoulders weren't on the mat. I think I have the video somewhere on this PC, I'll see if I can upload it so other people can get an insight if they haven't seen it before. EDIT: There we go - http://rapidshare.de/files/7950811/angleowned.avi.html |
Can you re-up it on yousendit for me? I can't get rapidshare to work...
|
I believe it was Mike "The Miz" (who's last name is like Mizinski or something) who won the contest and got schooled quickly. Could be wrong on that. Anyway, from what I had heard... Angle was basically schooling them on the fly. Puder grabbed a key lock which would've legit made Angle tap out, but Angle managed to get him on the mat and the ref counted the three count. Thanks to television angles and two days to edit, it looked fairly legit.
Also from what I gather, Puder wasn't punished as it wasn't really his fault. He wasn't trying to hurt Angle, he was trying to show he was a good athlete and he happened to catch Angle, who probably thought all the talent would be seriously worn out from all of the squat thrusts. |

Yeh, basically, after a squat thrust challenge, Angle gave the winner a shoot match against him, with the idea being that Angle would stretch them all. The winner got beat easily. He asked if anybody else wanted a piece - Puder, who has had MMA training, raised his hand. They match went to the ground, at which point Puder, from the bottom, hooked in a Kimura, and had it pretty much cinched in all the way. Brisco, from the Gorilla position, realising Kurt may have been in trouble, ordered the ref to count three. He wasn't in danger of being crippled, but that's what happens when you put an unhealthy established star in a shooting environment on TV.

I dont know if this was said in this thread yet, but basically what happend was Angle got put in a hold and couldnt get out. The ref counted a pin to help Angle save face.
Again, I dont know if this has been said or not. |
tried catching what angle was saying after when Puder wanted to shake hands.
Caught "Are you stupid" and "ok, you just remember that next time". |
probably:
Are you stupid making me look bad on tv! Alright...but just remember next time I'll break your fucking legs. |

Angle offered anyone a square go and Puder stepped up and schooled Angle. |
Unlike that punk Puder, Angle has fucking class and knows his job.

Remove the x's at the beginning. :) |
lol never mind Kurt :'(
|
Puder . TNA should sign him, I'm pretty sure he's not that expensive and it'll help out with the whole Spike/UFC/TNA thing.
|
yeah, I like Puder
|
*lamo* That was great! It ranks right up there with Vader falling on his ass.
|
lol They never did give him his one million dollars.
|
I watched the clip and Angle sure looked pissed after that. I wonder what the real story is, and what happened between them after that.

LOL @ Rob owning Steele
Respect the classics  |
rofl @ Angle spit-talking saliva on Puder's face
|
Was wondering what Puder was up to nowadays. After being cut from WWE/OVW he made appearances in ROH. He's 7-0 in MMA but hasn't really done too many fights, is this normal?
|
He's had a year or two off, and has a fight coming up soon (possibly for the same org that Lashley is fighting in)
|
Does Puder fight name guys? His record is about as clean as it can be.
|
I just realised how long James Steele has been talking shit for.
|
What? Puder was a punk, and should have done his job. Do you actually think they were going to do a fucking shoot fight with no namers trying to be WWE superstars on a TV show against their most credible main eventer?
Please, get over yourself. |
Well considering it was Kurt Freakin' Angle and these were basically a bunch of wannabes who also happened to have just worn themselves out doing squat thrusts, the idea was for Angle to come in an just dominate them. It wasn't scripted for Angle to dominate them because, the thought was, it didn't need to be. It just so happened, Puder caught Angle off guard and trapped him. Not Puder's fault. He didn't lay down because he wasn't scripted to. It was real. He was in a contest to become a WWE superstar and he wasn't going to purposely look bad.
|
I now realize how long Rob has been an MMA mark.

Don't you have to text Dana White and tell him how awesome he is for being a huge douche?
|
I did it 20 minutes ago.
Don't you have to wipe the cum off your face from your Vince McMahon/Shawn Michaels session? |
No, they shoot in a giant bucket that Joey Styles bathes in.
