what games would be good to get, bearing in mind i hate shoot-em-ups and i have all the grand theft auto games on pc already.

I'm a big fan of the Rachet Clank series which you can prolly now buy for $20 each..

And God of War is pretty f'n pimp also..

If you like Fighters though:
Soul Calibur 3. The game is sex. It's like Soul Calibur 2, but with all of the series' original characters (No Spawn, Link, Heihachi or Necrid, tho) and create a fighter. Chronicle of the Sword mode reminds me of Warcraft 2. Pwn.

Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore. Oldy mouldy, but still pretty crazy with the counter system and the jiggly tits. Supposed to be better than the arcade and Dreamcast versions. Must be pretty good because I :heart: the arcade version.

Tekken 5. Holy shit, this blows Tekken 4 away. Characters are better balanced, IMO. Also, the new boss Jinpachi (Heihachi's dead ass dad) is fucking cheap.

Just about any of the 2D King of Fighter games. The Street Fighter 3 games are like light, not as good versions, but still ok. Stay away from the 3D KoF games. They are poo compared to the ones mentioned so far.

Guilty Gear XX. Borrows heavily from both SNK and Capcom fighters and combines the styles to create the Jebus Christ of 2D fighters. The game is loaded with hard rock/metal references, has a kick ass rock soundtrack, sweet graphics and lets you do crazy combos (crazier than Marvel vs Capcom). Roman Cancel = ratings. I played this in the arcade and it's practically why I got a PS2. Well that and Soul Calibur 3. Stay away from Guilty Gear Isuka: They tried to make it 4 players, but it's really awkward since you have to press a button to turn around.

Tekken Tag Tournament. Another oldy mouldy. But's the goods, so get it.

Everyone has been crapping themselves over God of War (never played it myself, as I've only had a PS2 for like 4 days now). It's actually an action adventure game, but from the hype it's been getting, I'll definitely check it out.

i dunno. lately all i have played is GTA, shenmue and no mercy. Also, lots of sega rally on arcade at college. metal gear solid sounds good. am i right in thinking that you can play PSX games on PS2 too? so i could get the first metal gear also?

Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari. So fun and addictive. Extremely hard to put that controller down.

Yeah, you can play PS1 games on the PS2. You still need PS1 memory cards though. I think you need PS1 controllers too. Not sure though.

Word of warning, though. The Smackdown games are way different from No Mercy. Day of Reckoning series on the gamecube are more like No Mercy.

Anyway, I'm gonna grab a shower, then go get Tekken 5 and maybe something else.
