Do the superstars get to keep the belts?
 
I was reading an interview with Booker T and he said at his home, he had all the belts he had ever won. I was under the impression, that you got to keep the belt for as long as your reign, then you give it up? Or do they let you keep your belt and make another one for the new title holder, so is that not the same WHC belt, Randy Orton, Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Goldberg etc. had?

I think they just get replicas for the most part. Foley, I believe, really did get to keep the real Hardcore championship though.

Yeah, it's mainly replica's they get, although Rhino has the real ECW Heavyweight title and Rey Rey and Kidman have the real WCW Cruiserweight Tag Titles.

They've donea lot of replicas for various reasons.

They make a new belt for every rein, and let the last holder keep his version.

Yep they get replicas. Thats why you see the belts in homes like Bret, Animal, Booker, Rey etc. They also do this in boxing, where when a champion loses a title they get a replica belt to keep.

Hogan, I'm pretty sure, has the WCW World Title after the Bash at the Beach "SHOOT" where Russo renamed it the "Hulk Hogan Memorial Belt".

well this doesnt happen for a while. cus I've seen the new title holder carryaround the belt with the preivous guys name on it..

In that case, MacGyver, my guess is that they only use the REAL title on TV, but keep the replicas at home. Therefore, if a guy just won a title, they still use the real one on TV, which might still have the old nameplate on it.

Yeah Hogan in WCW had the belt with Giants name on it forever it seemed.

didnt they used to get a replica for everytime they won it? now they only get it for the first time they win something i think...maybe im wrong...they def get a replica though

A: I think some of the long term heavy weight champs have gotten to keep the belt, especially if they made a custom style for him, but for the most part no. Most people who have replicas in their house had them made themselves. I’ve held a lot of titles and don’t have a replica of any kind.

I was pretty sure they were replicas any way. On Eddie's DVD it shows someone unscrewing Brocks nameplate and screwing Eddie's on

The belt they were unscrewing was probably the real belt that they use on the shows. They keep the replicas in their own homes if they were big enough at the time. (For example, Val Venis probably doens't have a copy of the I/C belt, but Honky Tonk probably does.)
