I'm watching TNA again...

I liked the first showing enough...

And they really have a good setup right now. Except for the Main event, it was a solid production with enough hooks for later. Anyone got the ratings yet? This was really a solid show.

Destor 11-29-2005 12:46 AM

I like the main event. Two people new viewers have heard of. Even if they are washed up. This show they cut down on the spotfests and had some matches that were just spot-heavy, which is a comfortable middle ground I think. All in all I give one out of two e-thumbs: :y:

Kane Knight 11-29-2005 12:54 AM

I don't know if Kip James counts as a name to new viewers necessarily. I mean, not to detract from his brilliant work in the past, but he's known as Kip James, and they sold him as crap earlier when Konnan was ranting about him. Not a good Pedigree.

Kane Knight 11-29-2005 12:55 AM

However, when I don't give a shit if the other guy wins, it's a little less painful watching JJ.

BlackDawn2024 11-29-2005 12:58 AM

You know what, though, if you're not down with Kip James, I got four words for ya. This Gimmick Sucks, Bitch!

Destor 11-29-2005 01:01 AM

Not to add unnecessary negativity, but the announce team is terrible.

Destor 11-29-2005 01:02 AM

As far as the people not knowing who Kip is, out of the rest of the roster he is their best bet.

Mr. JL 11-29-2005 01:28 AM

I missed the first 15 minutes of the show. I saw the Christian promo, and James Storm drinking a beer. I was kinda bored with the Styles-Sabin match, but I liked the innovative ending to it. Abyss-Hardy match was good but I think the whole, "Abyss is afraid of barbed wire" is retarded. Saw Killings almost spin himself out of the ring with his flying punch or something. And Billy Gunn made Jeff Jarrett look small, physically. Typical clusterfuck ending.

I am interested in the Raven House Of Fun Match, so I'll probably try and tune in for that.

Skippord 11-29-2005 01:28 AM

You mean to tell me no one knows K-Kwik

Mr. JL 11-29-2005 01:32 AM

Maybe they would reconize him if he'd just stop with the fifty revolutions he does anytime he touches another opponent.

You don't think Jeff Hardy, Christian or Raven would have better shots at recognition.

You got me on the Jeff Hardy, much better choice. Christian doesn't need the spot right now; but as far as name recognition sure. Bad direction to take the charector right now, but sure. Raven? No. No I do not think so. King of the jobbers (Raven) does not equal jobber of the mid-card (Gunn.)

Raven was a big name in WCW and ECW. As retarded as I think the gimmicks have been (He and Jeff should write some "deep" poetry together, start an emo band, and get married), he is a huge name, whereas Billy Gunn was only a real mainstream name as the New Age Outlaws, and it was the Outlaws, not Gunn, which mattered.

Isn't that that chocolate bunny who's always shoving hot chocolate down little kids' throats?

I thought that was Santa Claus.

Oh come on. Raven a huge name? ECW doesn't mean shit (and I don't like saying that) and how many marks remember the flock? Gunn is a bigger name than Raven. The Outlaws are one of the biggest tag teams in the past decade and I'm sure anyone who knows who they are will recognize Gunn.

Which means the name Kipp is irrelevent, as they will recognize him anyhow.

PullMyFinger 11-29-2005 11:37 AM

It's weird you made this thread because I was about to make one on Sunday. I really liked Saturday Night's show except for the JJ match like you said. It was solid and featured both entertainment/talking segments and wrestling.

Kane Knight 11-29-2005 11:49 AM

Yes, Raven was a huge name. He was well known in both promotions and had a large fanboy cult following.

No, they won't recognise him, any more than Marty Jannetty or "The other guy from WWAM!"

Destor 11-29-2005 11:54 AM

I'll compromise and say he was a big name, but thats as far as I can take it.

Sadistic 11-29-2005 01:49 PM

Was the first post a joke? All I remember is:

TNA would be much better if it's roster wasn't packed with a load of WWE rejects, they're all incredibly talented and all, but it's kinda like WWE throwing junk in the trash, and TNA going through WWE's trash and taking it home.

Oh and lets not forget:

JEFF JARRET SUCKS!

Do not give them ideas. They're crazy enough to actually do that angle.

They really are. I want to slap Don West around when he runs out of breath every 5 seconds from forgetting to BREATHE IN when he fucking commentates. I want to kill him, like, now.

Jeff Jarrett doesn't suck. HE'S A FUCKING BLACK HOLE!
To clarify...a black hole doesn't suck. It consumes everything it takes it. Jeff Jarrett does the exact same thing and it's only a matter of time before TNA is consumed by this walking black hole.

Kane Knight 11-29-2005 07:27 PM

Yes, Sadistic, I sure pulled the wool over your eyes.

(Nice to know you're selectively reading through posts though. Ironic that you left out the one where I said that all TNA needed to succeed was the drive to do so and some effort, but...

Yeah, he ravenously consumed my cock last night. :D

Destor people are more likely to remember or recognise Raven for his look.

Gunn (Kipp) is very vanilla and he is just another reasonably cut guy who I didnt even recognise on his TNA debut. Raven however while possibly not being as popular as the NAO has a look that is uniquely Raven and makes him easily recognisable to fans even years later.

My mother and my cousins who are halfway between mark and smark watched some TNA with me while ago and they knew who Raven was (isnt he the guy who fought DDP and Benoit in WCW and had those freaks follow him?) but had no idea who Gunn was eventhough they watched more WWF than WCW during the DX and nWo days.

Branding means a lot in this business and Raven has that recognition through his look that can be considered branding.

PullMyFinger 11-29-2005 08:30 PM

TNA's rating was a .8 again. Went up, so that should be a relief for TNA. Also, no surprise either...because it was a solid show that had great entertainment in there as well.

Not to mention, he still has a rabid following. Besides the One, anyone here a NAO/Kip James mark?

Hopefully they keep their shit together, because I thought it was a marked improvement over previous airings

They tried a feud remember? Jeff didn't show up for work and Raven wrestled Waltman instead

Kane Knight 11-30-2005 01:58 AM

Yeah, but that's far from them writing poetry together and getting married.,
