Buckwheat Lashley, never touch a mic again...
 

Here, I'm watching SmackDown!, marking out a bit for my favorite new wrestler Lashley, and he grabs a mic. And sounds like Buckwheat. I swear, the first thing that came to mind when he talked was that he sounds like Buckwheat.

The guy is almost exactly like a black Lesnar. Huge guy, powerful moves, amateur background, wrong voice for his build.

Anyway, besides his voice, I like Lashley. Maybe because I was a Lesnar mark, but I like this guy. I think he has potential.

Thoughts?

I was a horrible Lesnar mark too, and I'm finding myself liking Lashley more and more every week.


SD has come a LONG way from being the B show that it was a few months ago, due to all of this new talent. I liked Lashley's elimination at Survivor Series. Showed that he kicked ass, but lacks the expertise that the other superstars have. Good stuff.

Smackdown is kickin raws ass in its feud BTW.

Well, I never though Lesnar had the right voice for his body either. He sounded a little too boyish.

That's why I put that analogy there.

Whoops... that's what watching TV while browsing does. Totally missed that too. That makes two.

I kept imagining him saying "and now what I'm gonna do..... is choke a bitch".

Seriously, as he was talking, I just pictured him saying that instead of what he did.

Which I forget already.

I knew this dude in high school who was the same way. He was huge - a linebacker on the football team - and his twin brother was this skinny little dude. The big guy sounded like Mickey Mouse and his brother had this voice that would rattle windows. It made for some good laughs.

Makes me think of Suburban Comando where Taker's character speaks for the first time and its a little kids voice.

maybe Lashley should have a manager like Heyman to do all the talking for now.

He doesn't count. Booker T was the only black guy to win a big belt in the WWE but everyone forgot about that.

Yeah Rock is only half black, he doesn't count. Hes the last/first half black WWE champ. Booker doesn't count either. At the time the title didn't mean anything. He wasn't the face of a brand/company (in the WWE/F.)

Wait, Booker was the WWF champion? When!? (I'm being serious here, I don't remember.)

WCW/World title. Before they made it the RAW (now SD!) title. When they first brought it over for the invasion. It really doesn't count.

That's the WCW championship, how is that even considered a WWF title?

Well to be fair, after the invasion was over they made it the World title, and Booker held it then. But no one gave a rats ass about the strap.

When your right your right. I went back and did some checking, He dropped the then WCW title to The Rock who became the last WCW champion when the title was renemed. He dropped it to Jericho, then back to Rock, finnaly back to Jericho who unified the titles. I was wrong. :o

Seriously, when Lashley started talking, I had flashbacks to the Kaientai "Indeeeeeeed" gimmick - I thought there was no way his voice can be like that.

Lashley was booked HORRIBLY in the Survivor Series. If he was just going to be the first guy out, proving he's not a main event guy, he shouldn't have been in there, because that's the reason people would get behind him - to think he is a big deal. Hell, Bob Holly could have taken Lashley's place in that match, and it would have at least preserved Lashley's mystique.

I think Sylvan got too much offense in, to be honest. I like the idea of giving him some personality (looking at the watch on the suplex, etc)...maybe some background videos on his legitimate accolades. Something to make him different to the million other "this guy is impressive!" debuts that people get when they come in.

Booker doesn't count, so if the Rock doesn't count, there's been none.
