Ring Announcers

Does Howard Finkel still work as a ring announcer for WWE? I know the have Lillian Garcia on RAW and *guys name escapes me, little help?* on SmackDown!, but didn't they used to use the Fink for PPVs?

What's the situation there?

Xero 12-05-2005 09:36 PM

The guy you're thinking of Tony Chimmel.

It seems that Fink only does WrestleMania now. I guess he has an office or backstage role now.

There was an angle at Survivor Series 2002 where Lillian kicked him in the nuts and got the permanent job on RAW and Fink went to Heat for a while.

Yeah hes annoucing part-time and doing work for WWE publications.

The Naitch 12-06-2005 03:05 AM

Tony Chimmel is the best one by far

Unless things changed recently, he does the Rumble too. Gotta have the Fink taking about half an hour to explain the rules despite how many times we've heard them.

To be honest, guys - that actually brings me up a question... does anyone know who the ring announcer is at RAW brand house shows? I know Mr. Howard Finkel was the ring announcer when I went to a WWE house show this year at the Toledo Sports Arena in Toledo, OH

It is now time for the Royal Rumble!

[Pop!]

The rules are as follows. In just a few moments, the men who drew numbers one and two will enter the ring, to be joined by a new participant every two minutes. Eliminations occur when you are thrown over the top rope...with both. feet. hitting the floor. Once all the participants have entered the ring, the last man standing will win the Royal Rumble and will challenge for the World Wrestling Federation Championship at WrestleMania!

[Pop!]

And now... The man who drew number one...

[Jobber music hits.]

VINCE: IT'S SAMU! COULD SAMU WIN THE ROYAL RUMBLE?!?

DIBIASE: No.

Royal Rumble 1992. Probably the best hour of commentary ever. I just saw that video at Blockbuster the other day. War of the Worlds is due back on Friday, so maybe I'll use my free rental on RR92.

I agree 100 percent. even Hennan said it was the best match he ever called. I think it was the best rumble ever, I got it on the Flair DVD.

TerranRich 12-07-2005 12:53 AM

I want the video! I gotta check all our randomly placed threads for that video. I must scour the earth! :D

And so many classic quotes from that match! It was definitely Heenan at his best (which he often was).

"Thank you Piper! I take it back, it's not a skirt!"

"Damn that skirt wearing pansy!!!"

(paraphrased)

The Naitch 12-07-2005 10:40 PM

Well you have your puppies, and I...have my wiener :naughty:

Well, shit. The display box was for Rumble '92, but the video was Rumble '93. They don't even have a display box for '93, so I think they don't actually have '92.

Crap crap crap.

Use this if you can't get it anywhere else cheaper. But IT IS worth the money.
