Looking Ahead: The 2006 Box Office
'06 is shaping up to be a HUGE year for blockbusters. What are you guys looking forward to the most?
Curious George Ice Age 2 X-Men 3 The Da Vinci Code Cars Superman Returns Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Mission Impossible 3 Casino Royale (Bond 21) Die Hardest Miami Vice The Departed The Prestige 300 Sin City 2 |
Assuming they don't royally fuck it up, which I'm thinking they will, The Departed. Mainly because the original owns all. Followed by Sin CIty 2, Die Hardest, and the new PotC.

Internal Affairs (Wu jian dao) was amazing. |
I bet no one wants to celebrate Christmas with the McClanes.
|
The Departed looks awesome and I'm hoping they do a good job with The Da Vinci Code although I don't see Tom Hanks as a good fit for Robert Langdon.
|
Probably X-Men 3 out of all of those, then Sin City 2.
|
Gonna end up seeing X-Men, Sin City 2 and Die Hardest in the theatre for sure.
I prefer watching Bond movies at home. Interestingly enough, the parody of the 007 movies is called Casino Royale. |
Superman and Pirates. Even though Superman will mostl likely be sub-par.
|
X-Men 2, Cars and Casino Royale.
|
X3, Superman, Pirates, Casino Royale, Departed, Sin City 2, M:I 3, Miami Vice. And Die Hard 4 although I was unaware it was coming out so soon. Could suck though.
|
Prestige - I haven't read the book but Nolan + Bale + Jackman + Johansson =
|
Pirates first and foremost...after that...
I guess Xmen and Superman, Die Hard, and Bond (just to see how the new guy pans out) |

not sure if his costume is subpar...but i had read that his 'bulge' was too big and the studio is making them edit it out a little

You call that hype? You call that list blockbusters? Yeah, you have some good movies. Cars, X3, Pirates, Superman Returns, The Code... But you're leaving out a lot of potentially big movies.
BloodRayne looks decent, which is saying a LOT for a video game movie. The New World is going to make some major bank. Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World is going to be good, but I'm sure it's not going to make a lot of money because it's not what people are used to. I'm seeing an oscar for best documentary. Underworld: Evolution is going to suck, but then again I'm not a huge fan of the movie that has made more box office bank than any other movie. And that's just Janurary. |

There are a few movies that I left out just because the hype machines haven't started rolling for them just yet (ie: Talladega Nights). |

Bloodrayne looks like shite. And it will be simply because Uwe Boll is directing it. The guy is possibly the worst director ever.
Technically I count The New World as 2005 since it will be released in limited theaters in order to qualify for the Oscars, before it goes wide in 06. But yeah I cannot wait for that movie. I love Malick. Didn't like Underworld so will prolly skip the sequel. Cars I'm having serious doubts about. The trailers just do nothing for me, but I have faith in Pixar. |
X 3 :)
I'm going to have to hide the tattoo of Angel I'll have by then :) |
I can't wait until X3. Haven't been this excited for a movie since...well, Serenity, which was only two months ago.
But still... X3. Whoo! |

Ice Age 2
X-Men 3 The Da Vinci Code Sin City 2 Those are the only ones I'm looking foward to |
