Matt Morgan sufferes at the hands of Hardcore Holly

http://www.tpww.net/headlines/1075212988.html

For those who haven’t heard, there was a serious scare last night at the SmackDown brand house show in Reading, PA. After taking a clothesline from “Hardcore” Bob Holly, Matt Morgan did not get up.

WWE officials stopped the match and took him out on a stretcher. There was a little confusion on whether the injury was legit or a work, however, most fans could tell that there was something wrong.

Nevertheless, Dave Meltzer is reporting that Matt Morgan was released from the hospital late last night after suffering an apparent stinger in his match and does not appear to have anything serious wrong with him.

I find it hard to believe that this one's Holly's fault. I mean c'mon it was a close line, i reckon the only way Morgan would have got a stinger from that would be if he didn't bump correctly

Hmmmmm. it was one of two things. Either a bad bump/coincedence or a really stiff ass clothesline. Even Holly can't screw up a clothesline... at least I hope not.

With a big fu</>ck off metal thing in your arm you can

I'm not a huge holly fan, but let's clarify a few things.

The bump was off the apron and landing outside the ring.

He handed funny.

Holly would have had to totally miss the spot and have more strength then 10 wrestlers to cause a stinger from a clothesline.

Here's some more info on a Stinger.

http://www.spine.org/articles/stingers.cfm

The Stinger
What is It? How Is It Treated?
What is a Stinger?
A stinger is a sports related injury to the nerves about the neck or shoulder. It is sometimes called a burner or nerve pinch injury, but the term stinger is most descriptive of the symptoms that the athlete experiences including painful electrical sensations radiating through one of the arms. While the stinger is usually a spine injury, it is never a spinal cord injury. The stinger occurs most commonly in contact and collision sports, but is not as catastrophic as a spinal cord injury and does not result in paralysis in the arms and legs. A stinger is often not reported by the athlete to the coaches or the athletic trainers since the symptoms can spontaneously resolve within a short period of time. However, stingers tend to recur and if not properly diagnosed and treated can lead to persistent pain or even arm weakness, which can eventually result in extended lost playing time.

Athletes competing in various sports (most common in football and wrestling), playing specific positions (such as defensive back, linebacker or offensive line) or performing certain athletic maneuvers (such as tackling, blocking or executing a take down maneuver) are at greatest risk of sustaining a stinger. The injury occurs in 1 of 2 ways: either 1 of the nerves off the spinal cord in the neck is compressed as the head is forced backward and toward that side; or the nerves in the neck and shoulder are over-stretched as the head is forced sideways away from the shoulder. The athlete will experience sudden and severe painful, stinging sensations in 1 of his arms frequently lasting from seconds to minutes, occasionally hours and less frequently days or longer. There is often associated weakness of the muscles in the shoulder and arm that are supplied by the injured nerve. The arm symptoms are usually more severe than neck pain. First time stingers will usually recover quickly even without treatment, but there is a greater risk of recurrent injury if left untreated. Each additional stinger will likely result in continued neurologic impairment including muscle weakness. Stingers do not affect both arms at the same time, although each arm can be affected with different injuries. If both arms are symptomatic at the same time after a neck injury, a spinal cord injury is likely to have occurred which leads to a much different treatment plan.

Holly's a stiff working asshole, and he may have contributed, but I doubt it was solely his fault, if it was at all.

It really fu</>cking pains me to say anything in the dfefense of Hardcore Holly. I keep expecting him to go down and take someone else with him this time, and I don't watch wrestling to see people get hurt or killed. If I did, I'd watch those Faces of Death video or jackass or some shit like that. He's a ticking time bomb, and I'd be happy to see him out of the biz.

But let's not jump the gun here.

Too bad he has me on ignore, maybe if he read what I posted he'd know what he's talking about.

Again, not a Holly fan, but not his fault.

It was a clothesline off the apron, and he landed funny and got a stinger.

and so far, from every site I've read there normally correct 99% of the time.

Just like with Holly's injury from last year, we're dealing with one extremely green performer and one notoriously stiff worker. I don't doubt that it was mostly a case of Morgan not bumping properly, though it seems just as possible that he was taken off-guard by a clothesline of a magnitude he wasn't prepared for.

Regardless, Holly sucks.

Holly was just bitter that he got buried on Sunday! :D

BasicThuganomics 01-27-2004 07:24 PM

Holly is still a dick.....

But I am glad Matt Morgan is ok. I think that in a couple of years or so, Matt Morgan might not suck actually. I definately like him better than Nathan Jones...
