ds online question

it says at www.gameplay.co.uk i need windows xp to use the wireless connector....
true? because sometimes sites do talk shit...

Kane Knight 12-27-2005 01:47 PM

It's true according to Nintendo's site, Nintendo themselves, the packaging, and people who have attempted to use it on 98/ME/2000.

Kane Knight 12-27-2005 01:48 PM

However, there IS good news...You can pick up a similar non Nintendo adapter at an electronics store, or just get a farkin' router.

Extreme Angle 12-27-2005 01:50 PM

my dad won't let me get a router because:
1. they too expensive.
2. they are too difficult to set up.
i have windows ME...
i'll walk to town with somebody 2moro and ask in game or gamestation...
then i jsut need to my mario kart and AC: wild world when it comes out!

Extreme Angle 12-27-2005 01:55 PM

KK can you put a link to the page where nintendo speak about online and stuff please?
i can't find it on nintendo.co.uk
thanks :D

Nintendowifi.com has a lot of information. There should be a UK version on that page.

Routers aren't all that expensive for a basic model. You can find a bunch of them for the price of the adapter. You can also use a Wireless adapter by another company which can be used, but if the setup for a router is too complex (They're pretty easy, IMO), you might be fucked...

I'm sorry, but, please, it's DAMN, not DAMB. That's not even a damn word.

Extreme Angle 12-27-2005 05:48 PM

... Xero where do you live? usa or uk?

Xero 12-27-2005 05:49 PM

US, but what the hell does that matter? It's not an English spelling, either.

Extreme Angle 12-27-2005 07:02 PM

i aint talking about that...
i just wanted to know to see if you knew where i could get a usb connector compat with windows ME.

Mike the Metal Ed 12-27-2005 07:38 PM

PC World, Dixons, Curry's, Staples, any PC store should have some.

Jonster 12-27-2005 07:41 PM

You can get a Cable & Wireless one for £20 from Argos.

Extreme Angle 12-28-2005 03:51 AM

oo i go have a look in the catalogue now :)
this?
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...o.x=19&go.y=10
or
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...o.x=17&go.y=11

Jonster 12-28-2005 06:33 AM

Well the first one is a memory stick, so that wouldn't be very helpful for setting up a wireless connection.

Extreme Angle 12-28-2005 06:56 AM

ok i was just on the phone to a friend and he said that i need a wireless router or wireless broadband...
he said that he pays £30 a month for BT.
so could you explain step by step how to use the second one and set it up?
and woudl there be any fees?

Jonster 12-28-2005 07:40 AM

I haven't got wireless broadband and it works for me fine. In fact I use the very cable and wireless USB adapter that you linked to there.

Extreme Angle 12-28-2005 07:43 AM

ok thanks, i will buy it in an hour or so...
so what do you do? put it in the usb port then how do you sign up?

Kane Knight 12-28-2005 09:41 AM

You need broadband, you don't NEED a router.

Extreme Angle 12-28-2005 11:52 AM

ok i connected the thing in and it won't connect... it just keeps connecting for ages...
