I tuned in just in time to see Booker's invitation for Orton to take his spot against Benoit. Randy really needs work on making his dialogue sound more natural, especially with someone like Booker, who's such a great talker. His delivery is in-character, but there's a stiltedness to it - he doesn't really sound like he's reacting to what's being said. (Also, thank god that Undertaker nonsense is over.)

Also, the press conference with Melina went on too long, but it was getting some great crowd response - as long as the writers don't over-script this feud, this Batista-MNM stuff could be great, solely on the strength of the personalities involved.

And now Booker and Sharmell are on headset - goddamn, I love these two.

Booker's out for, what, a couple of months? How d'ya think they'll handle the series (other than "poorly") - Orton becomes Booker's ally/permanent replacement? Booker gets a new avatar for the remaining matches? Hell, with this setup, I think I'd actually enjoy watching Orton if they paired him as Booker's official (but reluctant) substitute. He could defend the title until Booker's ring-ready again, at which point I'd have Randy lose the title, creating heel vs. heel friction between Orton and Booker/Sharmell. Could be a fun mini-arc, and it creates two new stories when it ends - Booker/Orton, and whoever wins the title versus, well, anyone.

(Just trying to spur discussion. :p )

I did like the Orton/Benoit fight though. It was solid, plus, it involved neither 1) The Undertaker vs Orton or 2) Booker in the ring.

I see they're giving Bobby Lashley the one-name, "monster" treatment (a la Batista), rather than a Shelton Benjamin-esque "genuine athlete" image. Is this purely for marketing, or does someone really think it gives the man more credibility if they drop his first name?

I was just hoping during the Melina conference thing and the tag match that they weren't gonna have some stupid rape allegation angle.

Maybe Batista and Rey could get a re-match, but Melina will file a restraining order on Batista, which means Rey gets hardcore brutalized by MNM since Batista isn't there.
