The Rock vs. Goldberg

Thoughts

The welcome to the WWE asshole, chairshot was pretty sweet too btw

Rammsteinmad 01-06-2006 04:33 AM

Wasn't terrible, but wasn't great. Rock was awesome in that match. Goldberg was just, uhh... Goldberg.

The Naitch 01-06-2006 04:34 AM

That was the only time he came out to his WCW music

The Naitch 01-06-2006 04:35 AM

Rock was money back then.

From his feud with Hogan, to Austin then Goldberg.

The Naitch 01-06-2006 04:37 AM

IMO if I was Rock I'd be pissed. Well not pissed but dissapointed. Look at it this way. You put over Brock in 2002, and he fails to deliver, but thank god for Angle. Then you put over Goldberg who also fails.

I miss The People's Jobber

Rock-Hogan 1 > Rock-Goldberg

The Naitch 01-06-2006 04:40 AM

Yeah that was classic.

Wasnt the X8 main event Jericho vs. Bulldog?

The Naitch 01-06-2006 04:41 AM

it was cool that he had that little side feud to put over Hurricane, and Jeff Hardy

the official main event saw Chris Jericho defend his Undisputed WWF Heavyweight Championship (the WCW & WWF World Titles) against a babyface and fresh off the injury list after recovering from his Quad tear, Triple H.

The main event of WM X8 was HHH vs Stephanie with some guy that picked up dog shit as an extra.

Not too mention Booker T too when it was down to a one on one in the battle royal for the WM 19 title shot against Triple H.

I thought that Rock's latest heel run was great back in 03. My favorite was when he was making fun of Hogan, ran out of the ring, was standing on the apron, and extended his hand and said something like "Hogan..You know I'm just messin' and I know that at No Way Out we will deliver a show like none other.." and as Hogan reached Rock spit in his face and jumped off the apron  I thought that was great :D :y:

Brock didn't fail.

D Mac 01-07-2006 02:23 AM

He just "sold out".

John la Rock 01-07-2006 02:41 PM

Rock carried that match big time

Rock was BY FAR the best wrestler in the company from February-April 2003

Morgan 01-07-2006 02:46 PM

"Whiskerbiscuit"

He helped put over Booker and Hurricane, then Triple H subsequently buried them twice as hard.

Russenmafia 01-07-2006 03:17 PM

Thought the Rock's best segment of 2003 was the first ever Rock Concert. He got more heat in that segment alone than the Masterpiece has had in his WWE career.

The Rock Vs. Goldberg feud was terribly done.

Just awful on so many levels.

The Naitch 01-07-2006 03:27 PM

i agree. It could've been better. The Rock played the coward role too much.

The Naitch 01-07-2006 03:28 PM

although I marked out bigtime when he saved Gillberg

hb2k 01-07-2006 04:35 PM

Just the whole goddamn thing was terrible. Goldberg debuts after one day of build and spears the Rock first day in? Well that blew the anticipation to his debut and to the physicality. Then they had Gillberg, Goldberg in a wig, Goldberg get his ass kicked, outsmarted and then a second ass kicking in the same night....Instead of having a star vs star dream match, it was just another PPV main event with regular angles. Retarded.

I hope they aren't questioning why it didn't do great.

Favre4Ever 01-08-2006 04:08 AM

If the whole Goldberg thing had been a big suprise instead of hyped up, I would have been much happier with the feud. Also, it seemed way more......"staged", I guess, than a lot of WWE segments.

hb2k 01-08-2006 08:51 AM

They shouldn't have thrown it out with no build, what they should have done is executed the build differently. They were doing angles that any two people would do leading into any PPV match. This was GOLDBERG - it was huge news when he signed. They should have had Goldberg hype videos run for a couple of weeks, Rock challenges him, a Goldberg video plays during a Rock promo saying "You're Next". Goldberg only appears on the Raw before Backlash, where they tease his appearance all show, Rock comes out for a promo at the end, Goldberg comes through the crowd, and Security gets ing the way for a wild pull-apart, and they don't touch each other. If Rock's promos, and the videos they made, and JR's commentary all pushed it as a dream match, it would easily have been accepted as one.

Favre4Ever 01-08-2006 09:43 AM

I dunno.........it just seemed to me like the whole thing was just mashed together. They were really reaching for reasons to be pissed at each other.

Heel Hollywood Rock was the shit though.
