William Regal advises three young stars against WWE

Quote:

William Regal has supposedly told OVW star Ken Doane to quit WWE because if they bring him up at 19, people will be sick of him by the time he is 25. He has also advised Bryan Danielson and Harry Smith to go all around the world and learn different styles before coming to WWE because if they do, they will have more to offer and be better off.

WWE and William Regal have come to terms on his contract. We wish him the best in his future endeavors. If he goes to TNA, he will be entertaining and put on great matches...please don't watch him, watch Cena instead!

Regal's a legend

Regal knows what he's talking about. Too bad it will be taken the wrong way.

The Naitch 01-10-2006 08:37 PM

Regal is boring.

Y3J 01-10-2006 08:41 PM

Look at it this way, if the guys he advised weren't that good, and would end up jobbing on heat every week, then he's done the right thing.

They can go and learn how to wrestle properly and come back for the better. And if they become any good, they'll have better futures and we could benefit too.

I disagree. The guy's facial expressions and promos are hilarious.

The WWE won't fire him, they'll turn him into a cross-dressing Englishman who wants to "court" Paul Burchill. They'll have him lose all the time and think they're clever for wasting his talent.

He's got good points, though. Ken Doane can go work for TNA and ROH, and really learn the business in and out, and earn some independant fame (almost an oxymoron). If he goes to TNA, he could really enter the WWE similiarly to Chris Jericho. Harry Smith and Bryan Danielson will likely be toned down in the WWE, so they may as well get the "wrestling" out of their system before they sign. Both are very good, and if given the right stage could wow some people. Harry Smith is second generation, so he's got that going for him, too.

Danielson is already the man

Corkscrewed 01-11-2006 01:33 AM

This was posted in that William Regal interview topic. Or rather, it was in that interview. ;)

Corkscrewed 01-11-2006 01:34 AM

And for the record, in the interview, he noted Danielson and Smith as people who will be amazing wrestlers when they finally get to the WWE because they have been around the world and know everything.

[What he didn't mention but was no doubt thinking is that once they get to the WWE, all that knowledge will be thrown out the door as Vince orders them to limit their moveset to five maneuvers.]

WWE got Regal'd

weather vane 01-11-2006 05:13 AM

Regal is awesome. Fuck Vince.

Regal is spot on. The problem with the WWE is that everyone is a clone of what the WWE wants. Because everyone is trained the same way by the same guy by the same territory down in OVW, they all wrestle and act the same. It's the reason that the WWE is bellyflopping at the moment - because there's no stand out stars. Like Mick Foley says, if you "go to the circus, and don't like the elephants, then go see the jugglers". The thing is that the WWE trains and raises talent in such a monotone method that they're all elephants and only a few are jugglers.

By Regal saying to these kids to get out of OVW and travel the world - go learn some other styles, go incorporate into your arsenal what you experience from different feds all over the world, these guys are going to eventually come back and be the shit! Hopefully, in five or six years Smith, Doane and Danielson will come back from TNA, ROH, New Japan or whatever fucking feds there are out there and offer such a different approach to wrestling that the WWE will finally provide the variety that the fans need.

Whether or not the WWE will want to employ a guy who can't work the way they want (or as they believe - just can't work) is a different question. Take a look at CM Punk and Burchill. These guys are uber talented and have such experience from indy feds that their styles are cut from a different cloth, you'd think the WWE would capitalise. Not so.

CharismaInjection 01-11-2006 11:09 AM

Regal's not advising them to never go to WWE, he's just telling them to live a little, go around the world wrestling cuz as soon as you join WWE, it's hectic, and you'll never have a day off.

Chavo Classic 01-11-2006 11:13 AM

...and because as a bunch of rookies under 25 years old, they'll never get a break and will be released the following year.

Stickman 01-11-2006 12:01 PM

Does anybody else think Chris Masters' career will be over by the time he's 30 because he never learned how to wrestle and there will be nothing left for him to do?
