7.1 Speaker System
 

I just got a 7.1 Speaker System today, it is the Inspire P7800 model by Creative. Well I hooked it up and I got sound coming out of all the speakers, but I'm noticing that the 2 front-center speakers are playing everything substantially louder and at a much better (the regular) quality then every other speaker. The 2 speakers on each side of me and the center speaker are all very quiet and the quality is lower..

I have tried adjusting plugs, fooling around with Sound Device stuff in Control Panel, but I can't fix it. Anyone have any ideas? I went on Creative's support site but the product I have isn't even listed on their site. :wtf:

Kind of bummed out since I spent $100 on a 7.1 system that is basically acting like a 2.1 :|

Does it have anything to do with the sound card? Like it has to have the ability to output to 7 speakers?

If you are using them for your computer there could be a couple of things.

Try going to your control panel and going to Sound and Audio Devices. At the bottom there should be an Advanced.. button for speaker settings. Try setting it to 7.1 home theater.

If it came with a control panel for the actual speakers, try turning up all the side and back speakers.

It might be the sound card you have as well but I'm going to say that you probably are aware of that and that's not the problem.

And there could be no problem at all. Surround sound speakers for computers tend to have very low response on back speakers and probably the same on the extra 2 for the 7.1. It will be hard to notice until you actually use something that takes advantage of the 7.1 capabilities. You will notice it though if you do.

I figured it out, there was some little control panel thing for my sound card that was hidden away in a folder. I had to change the "CMSS 3D" mode from Off to Surround Sound and that did the trick, system sounds great now.

Yeah KK it was only 100 bucks, but they work really well. They had 5.1 systems for like 450 bucks but they all sounded the same when I tried them out, so I went with more speakers for less money.
