Will Sting be able to help NWA rise?

Nobody has been talking about this but it's a pretty big deal. How do you guys feel about Sting working for TNA? Does it matter? Will it help? Will it hurt? Discusss....

PullMyFinger 01-16-2006 06:48 PM

IMO yes.

If you go on PWInsider it was reported that 300-400 fans were told they couldn't get in because Soundstage was full.

I think TNA needs to get out of there and go to a larger venue.

Kane Knight 01-16-2006 06:54 PM

IT only helps if they get out of said venue.

Agreed 100%.

Mr. Nerfect 01-16-2006 07:00 PM

All these guys need is a two-hour timeslot and a bigger place to hold shows.

McLegend 01-16-2006 07:02 PM

I argee about the 2 hour time slot, but they can't move out of the impact zone soon any time soon. It's just not possible. Cost them way too much money

Sting Fan 01-16-2006 07:04 PM

Out of curiosity did anyone watch the PPV and how did Sting look?

I read the writeup and read he did a dropkick and such but it doesnt mean much.

UmbrellaCorporation 01-16-2006 07:05 PM

I'd be surprised if even Sting can save TNA from mediocrity. Granted, that's just one opinion, but still.

AJHayes 01-16-2006 07:17 PM

Sting looked pretty good. Still in good shape, moves were crisp, match continuity was pretty good. All in all, I'd say he can do nothing but help.

That means nothing. They've been turning away that many fans for the past couple of months. And remember the tickets cost nothing. So even non-wrestling fans might be interested in seeing a free show.

FourFifty 01-16-2006 10:05 PM

Did Sting job to Jeff Jarrett yet? Did her oversell the hell out of the pounce?

Does that happen everytime? If it happens evertime why would PWInsider suddenly report it now? I'm not doubting you...I'm just saying. In fact, what you said seems more believable...but that also leaves me puzzled as to why they would mention something that occurs often..you know?

Fox 01-16-2006 10:31 PM

They're used to turning away fans, just not in the huge droves that they had to last night. A lot of people turned up to see Sting.

I think he can only help TNA at this point. They have the in-ring talent to hold a great TV show, but they need charismatic big name superstars. Team 3D, Christian Cage, Rhino and Raven are good, but Sting has been to the very top of this business, and he's seen it all. That's the type of guy they need to revolve their show around; atleast until Christian Cage cements himself as "the man" in TNA.

I think a few limited shows would work for them, but actual touring would probably kill them.

This would, of course, be the first time you ever saw someone pick up something as news when it had been happening before.

A lot of the talent like TNA because they don't have to travel. If they start touring, the talent could become restless

Kane Knight 01-17-2006 12:13 AM

Could?

redoneja 01-17-2006 12:16 AM

Just for technicalities, TNA Wrestling is no longer part of the NWA(they withdrew in May 2004), and have a lease on the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, and the NWA World Tag Team Championships through 2014. Basically all this means is that the champs won't have to defend outside of TNA.

the problem with TNA having one big name star join up is that there is no one of his calibre to face. This has an adverse effect on the big name stars career.

Sting jobbing Hardy or Jeff Jerret ...sigh..

Londoner 01-17-2006 06:41 AM

What are the odds on Sting jobbing to JJ?

Disturbed316 01-17-2006 09:51 AM

Didn't do much for the company last time he was there, so why will it be different this time round?

I'd say about the same as the odds on the winner of Broncos/Steelers going to the Superbowl...

More exposure?

Dorkchop 01-17-2006 03:35 PM

I think he will only help. No, there isn't anyone in TNA at Sting's calibre, that's why TNA has to do thier best to make some guys up there. Sting should be used to help the company, not pull a HHH or Jarrett and hold everyone down. Sting could be used to help Christian Cage, Rhino, Abyss, hell even AJ Styles (and I don't even really like him).

Jordan 01-18-2006 02:47 PM

What feuds can Sting have in TNA that would mean anything? The only one that comes to my mind is Abyss... that would be a great pairing... also Raven.

McLegend 01-18-2006 02:52 PM

Jarret, Christian Cage, Joe, Daniels, and AJ. Pretty much any TNA wrestler that happens to rise up the card while he is there.

Yea, I've heard it reported before. And in the hundreds, especially for the PPV's. As for why PWI would just say it now? You know how these reporters are. There just trying to make things (Sting) sound like such a huge deal.

The CyNick 01-18-2006 08:14 PM

The vast majority of Internet reporting is pure crap.

I dont think Sting will mean anything to their ratings. If this last PPV didn't get a major bump, then I dont think he'll ever have any value to the company.
