Heidenreich released

Heidenreich released
Jan. 17, 2006

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms with Heidenreich on his release from the company. WWE wishes Heidenreich the best in all his future endeavors.

Poor guy. I must say, though, releasing him seems like one of the better cost-cutting measures they have. Now all they need to do is get rid of Animal.

crock69 01-17-2006 08:47 PM

I was wondering what the hell happen to him.

Kane Knight 01-17-2006 09:02 PM

To be honest, I'ma miss him. Imagine his "poetry" returning, and him and the Boogeyman working a program? :

Chico 01-17-2006 09:04 PM

Dang. No more disasterpieces in WWE.

Well, I suppose they hadn't really done much with ol' Heidy since he and Animal lost the titles. Wonder how long Animal will stay employed? (Come to think of it, isn't Animal the brother of John Laurinaitis - the head of talent relations in WWE?)

Danny Electric 01-17-2006 09:07 PM

I love the way they release people just after they come out of programess.
Another tag team gone.

Kane Knight 01-17-2006 09:09 PM

To be fair, they were never a tag team.

Mr. Nerfect 01-17-2006 09:12 PM

It sucks that Animal will keep a spot on the roster, just because he's got relations there. Seriously, spend the money they are throwing in Animal's direction on keeping someone like Akio on the roster, or making sure you don't lose talent like Christian.

Corkscrewed 01-17-2006 09:18 PM

That would require common sense.

KingofOldSchool 01-17-2006 09:28 PM

Yay!

Maybe he can become a cop in New Orleans.

JT 01-17-2006 09:29 PM

I don't mind that Heidenreich was released, because as stated before, he wasn't doing much. However, I heard somewhere they he was injured. If that's true, I just find it to be more bull by the WWE releasing people during a low point in their career (Test, Dawn Marie, etc).

Why keep someone you cant use? The WWE is a business, not a nursery.

Because these guys got hurt trying to help make the WWE money.

And as for the case of Dawn Marie, she was told that she could have a child without risk to her job, and was let go anyway.

PullMyFinger 01-17-2006 09:48 PM

It's a job though and a priviledge. If you slack off at work for a while because you've been feeling down, would your boss care? Hell no.

Xero 01-17-2006 09:52 PM

Well, I hope Little Johnny came to the meeting of Heidenreich and Vince. I heard that Vince was going to strangle Little Johnny behind closed doors. I heard the plan was for Little Johnny to come in the ring.

As reported earlier, John Heidenreich has been released from World Wrestling Entertainment. The situation stems several weeks back when Heidenreich checked himself into a hospital, complaining of an ear infection. When a WWE agent approached him to schedule plans on heading back on tour, Heidenreich turned him down, stating that he is done with life on the road.

Some wrestlers close to John tell our sources that he had been dealing with some family problems recently. So, this may be a case of WWE letting Heidenreich deal with his personal matters and leaving an offer on the table for the future.

Heidenreich was signed by WWE in 2001 and officially debuted in October 2003 on TV. He was managed for a heel run by Paul Heyman during a feud with Undertaker. He was later turned babyface and teamed with Animal as one half of the new Legion of Doom, where they won the WWE Tag Team championships.

Sounds like Heidenreich quit more than he was fired.

I can't help but wonder if his statement that his "life on the road" is finished indicates that he could be going to TNA.

John la Rock 01-17-2006 10:02 PM

very happy to hear

RGWhat316 01-17-2006 10:04 PM

That sucks to hear, Heidenreich was a decent character. I wonder if part of this is due to too much stress on him. He really hasn't been on tv much since Hurricane Katrina hit his home. If that is the case, maybe they are giving him time to recover before he can make a full return.

edit: just saw Fox's post, so I guess this must be true

In a real job, they couldn't get away with this. In wrestling, it's a different story.

Test was inable to wrestle for a total of 6 months (maybe even more) at the time of his release. He wasn't slacking off, he was legitametly hurt and inable to compete. Now I'm not saying that working for WWE is a right...I think it's quite clear to any wrestling fan who has watch WWE over the years that it's a previlage. However, I still find releasing someone unable to continue their profession until they are healed (injured while working for the WWE) wrong.

JT 01-17-2006 10:15 PM

BTW, I have read the new news on Heidenreich and no longer include him in my arguement (this is going out to those debating me on my stance).

Gertner 01-17-2006 11:10 PM

he'll be back. they always come back

Juan 01-17-2006 11:32 PM

It was bound to happen.

Evil Vito 01-17-2006 11:39 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Damn, I actually liked Heidenreich</font> :(

Boondock Saint 01-17-2006 11:54 PM

Ah well. He was growing on me, but...eh.

I don't know, you should get that checked.

Funky Fly 01-18-2006 12:41 AM

At least it was amicable. I'll kinda miss him, despite his general crappyness.

Kane Knight 01-18-2006 12:51 AM

Corkscrewed 01-18-2006 01:00 AM

Sounds to me like Katrina kind of shook him up and made him realize how fragile relationships could be, so he's moving back home to something more stable so he can be closer to his family more often.

Of course, that's just total speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

Lock Jaw 01-18-2006 01:32 AM

This news makes Michael Cole cry.

FourFifty 01-18-2006 01:33 AM

I was wondering why he wasnt in the Battle Royal Mind you.

RottingFreak 01-18-2006 08:09 AM
