World Champ that will never be...

Of anyone currently wrestling, who is the one guy who you wish would get a World Title reign, but deep down you know that there is 0 chance of it happening. Remember this is currently active wrestlers, no retired or dead wrestlers please.

Natureal first answer for me is Billy Gunn...I always wanted to see the WWE strap on him, but I knew deep down it would never happen. Now as Kip James, and given how TNA is booked, etc. I know he will never be NWA World CHamp...and actually to be honest I wouldn't want him to be NWA Champion.

The other guy I really wanted/continue to want to see walk out with the World Title would be William Regal. God that would be sweet. I know exactly how it could happen, but won't. Benoit wins the Rumble, goes to Mania and beats Angle for the title, after a title defense against Angle at the fallowing PPV, Benoit goes on a rampage defending it against a shit load of people...Booker, Orton, Rey, etc...then on an episode of SmackDown Benoit says he has spent months proving he is the greatest technical wrestler...and he challeneges anyone to prove him wrong...out comes William Regal. The two have yet another brutal and awe inspiring match. It end however with both men unable to answer a count of ten. Benoit retains the title...but Regal is pissed, they begin a fued, and Regal wins the World Heavyweight Championship...hell Benoit and Regal could fued for months and I doube any of their matches would ever get old...but it will never happen. :(

Triple H. :shifty:

Impeccable 01-25-2006 03:19 PM

I have a feeling a lot of people will be routing for Rey Rey...but honestly, I feel Shelton Benjamin will never get a shot to "carry the ball".

There's also RVD...he won't get the chance either.

JH 01-25-2006 03:20 PM

RVD & Benjamin

All time though was Curt Hennig & Rick Rude

Xero 01-25-2006 03:20 PM

Bob Holly.

And thank God for that...

CharismaInjection 01-25-2006 03:23 PM

Well Rey Rey's tricky....maybe...maybe not?

Mine is RVD.

Xero 01-25-2006 03:25 PM

Seriously, Rey Rey. I don't care how hard and far they push him, he's just too small to even be considered a WWE/World champion. I love him, but there is no way I could take him as a credible champion.

I mean, size usually doesn't matter as long as they're over (and having talent is a plus), but there's a limit.

mrslackalack 01-25-2006 03:28 PM

I was always hoping Christian would have got a chance in WWE to be world champ.

AJHayes 01-25-2006 03:29 PM

RVD, Gregory Helms

BigChris 01-25-2006 04:01 PM

Technically he was (WCW Champion)

allaboutthegame 01-25-2006 04:40 PM

rey mysterio, i do love the li'l guy and im a big rey mark but i feel he will never get the belt, which i feel in a way is justified because he is too small but how about a small title reign just to beat the odds!?! then have him as a solid US title candidate?

Shadow 01-25-2006 04:43 PM

I'm going off the cuff here and say Shane Helms.

Well...he was never the ECW World Heavyweight Champion...however many people would debate that at the time the ECW Television Championship was more of a main focus then the World Title. When Shane Douglas held the belt for over a year (over lapping mainly with RVD's near 2 years reign as TV Champ) the title was not so much the focus of anything other then Taz's quest to win it, where as the TV title with RVD as Champ had incredible matches for the title, and it wasn't just used as a prop in the storylines. Once Taz won the title in Jan. of 1999 there is little question that the ECW World Title had once again retaken it's place as the main "highest honor" title...but there was a time, for almost a year, that I think in the minds of most ECW fans, the TV Title was more important (or at LEAST on the same level) as the ECW World Title.

But yeah, no...RVD was never ECW World Heavyweight Champion.

redoneja 01-25-2006 05:32 PM

Regal, RVD, and Christian

Chuck Jones 01-25-2006 05:33 PM

Chris Sabin

The One 01-25-2006 05:44 PM

Do you guys really think that Christian won't get a run with the NWA Title...or that RVD won't at least get one run as WWE Champ.

Come on...both those guys are in line RIGHT NOW to get at least a World Title fued.

redoneja 01-25-2006 05:46 PM

OK then, Carlito(he will be this generation's Curt Henning in terms of getting shots at the title) and CM Punk(great indy worker, probably won't get over in the big leagues, as much as I like him)

The One 01-25-2006 05:49 PM

Good one redoneja. I hadn't thought of Carlito, but once you mention it I surely don't see him as a future World Champion...but I totally see him fueding for it over the comming years.

Then again...truth be told, at first I never thought Rocky Miavia as World Champ material either...

Cool King 01-25-2006 06:18 PM

I have a list of them.

Conway
Dupree
Mercury
Nitro
Noble
Orlando
Regal
Richards
Scotty
Snitsky
Sylvan
Tomko
Venis

John la Rock 01-25-2006 06:31 PM

Rey Mysterio - hopefully iy will happen but i don't think he'll ever get past the Intercontinental/United States title scene

kinglacoste 01-25-2006 10:28 PM

Tbh anyone can become champion one day. After APA's Bradshaw became champion, I realized this. At anytime a good enough schtick could be found for anyone.

Danny Electric 01-25-2006 10:57 PM

Tatanka :(

.44 Magdalene 01-25-2006 11:12 PM

I'm jumping on the RVD wagon.

Since I didn't watch ECW, I always thought that the TV Title was their World Title, probly for this very reason, thanks for explaing that.

BigChris 01-25-2006 11:21 PM

Seriously though, Val Venis has been there longer than Edge, and he is better than Edge, so why not give him a shot, I know the Morley thing didn't work, but that was a stupid gimmick anyway, he just needs to be Val Venis, and don't make refferance to the fact that he is a porn star.

The Show Off 01-25-2006 11:28 PM

"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels.

About two years ago I got Ring of Honor: The Era of Honor Begins. And I instantly fell in love with this guy. He's got everything you want in a wrestler, style, technique, athletisism, and attitude. He is one of the most sound wrestlers in the ring and he is totally solid on the mic. Everytime I watch him wresle I love it. Even if he's taking on some scrub in TNA like Buck Quartermain, I'm rivited. With all these things in his favor he'll never be the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Considering he's an excellent heel, he'll never win the title because apparetly Jeff Jarrett (whom I actually like) is the only heel they'll ever give the World Championship too,

Even if they were to build an X-Division star to World Champion it's only going to AJ Styles or Samoa Joe. All three men are too good for the X-Division and should all go for the World strap. Daniels would be a great World Champ, but it'll never happen...

Of all time these are the guys that I always wished would win the world title, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, Brian Pillman, Rick Rude, Jake Roberts, Curt Hennig, and most of all "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes.

Haven't been here in a while,

Double A Arn Anderson
Definately Mr. Perfect (the only name he should ever go by)
Andre the Giant, come on your telling me this guy didn't get one title reign?

Stevie Richards

Mr. Nerfect 01-26-2006 01:35 AM

Val Venis.

I wish I could say the guy had some classic all-time great matches, but the fact is, he hasn't. The guy hasn't even been given the chance to. He has won every title except the WWE Title in the Grand Slam, which is something that frustrates me.

All he needs to do is be featured on RAW, and win matches. Have him enter the Royal Rumble, and last for a bit. Slowly and steadily build him up and then give him a random night to challenge for the title, and have him win wit the interference of the (heel) Champion's arch nemesis, which allows Venis to get at least one reign with the WWE Championship. I would be able to forgive the WWE for their abuse of his talent over the last six years if they do that.
