The return of Jeff Hardy

www.prowrestlingscoops.com
With WWE at least putting some consideration into finally building up its cruiserweight division, there is now talk that Jeff Hardy is negotiating for a WWE return. Hardy would bring some star power and attention to the cruiserweight division.

While nothing has been signed, it will be interesting to see if Hardy and WWE do reach a deal. If a deal is struck, Hardy will join the cruiserweight division.

Kane Knight 01-29-2004 09:28 AM

Wouldn't it be great if we could get some cruiserweights into the CW dvision?

I mean, we're stuck with Rey Mysterio, Tajiri, and Ultimo Dragon...Who wants them, when we can have a true Cruiserweight like Jeff Hardy?

c4g2 01-29-2004 09:29 AM

Bringing Jeff back would be great. :y:

VonErich Lives 01-29-2004 09:41 AM

I think they should have Matt Hardy back in the CW division!

We could watch every week as he just makes the weight.

Watch him running the stairs of an arena an hour before a match...

watch him taking a piss before getting on a scale naked.

ok, yeah... CW division is fun, but it doesn't bring ratings... I wish it did, and people can laugh at Vince and his "big man fetish", but they bring in ratings... This is fantasy, people want to see giants battle and destroy each other... not some guy who'se 5'2.

I agree to a point i think big man battling is getting old i think fans wanna see wrestlers like RVD and mysterio i believe that the insane moves cruiserweights pull off is what the fans like..with the big men battling its usually the same basic power moves. I think fast paced matches are better than slow powerhouse matches.

I dunno. VEL's kinda got a point.

Rey Mysterio's huge and so are a couple of other Cruisers, but people generally think of the Rock and Austin and the like. It's more the "token little guy" than a huge paradigm shift.

Innovator 01-29-2004 10:05 AM

Austin and the Rock are only 6'5 i think, far from the hosses that Vinnie Mac has on SmackDown. Bringing in Jeff Hardy would give us some new matches in the cruiserweight division. Jeff vs. Rey or Jeff vs. Ultimo could be show stealers if they are given more than 8 minutes.

They're also far from the fast pace of cruisers though.

Yeah, the Rock's not as slow.

I should also throw in Foley and the NWO here. They're pretty big in the "first association" factor.

Jeff Hardy was terrible when he was in last. Not to mention a queer who paints his arms with magic markers. I don't see how he would help anything out personally. If he found his focus again, and didn't act like a complete spaz, maybe he could be something in the CW division.

loopydate 01-29-2004 11:44 AM

Why? Let Jeff "make his music" or whatever, and actually push the cruisers you've already got. What, international stars like Mysterio and the Dragon don't appeal to enough people, you have to bring in a spastic American who excels in spotfests, but not real wrestling?

The CyNick 01-29-2004 12:30 PM

If Jeff has his head on straight they might as well bring him in, the girls seem to like him.

He would do alright in the CW division, because his style is more suited for that type of match. Rey vs Jeff would be pretty sweet, or it could also be a trainwreck. Thats the problem with Jeff, you never know what you are getting.

Loose Cannon 01-29-2004 12:46 PM

If they really want that Cruiserweight division to work, and I just said this about the tag division, you need a strong heel that can work the mic. I thought the best time for any Cruiserweight division was when Jericho was the champ when he was heel in WCW. He single handedly carried that division and the fact that he could work the mic and put on awesome matches really helped. You need someone who the crowd really hates and who they care about hating. A.J. Styles when he was champ in NWA is another perfect exmple of this. I wish the WWE could bring him in to take control of that division as a heel. Eddie Guerrero is another good example in WCW. Even SYxx was a good heel champ IMO.

But right now, eventhough I like Noble, I don't see him as a strong heel champion. But the WWE doesn't know how to run a cruiserweight division so we may never see the kind of heel champs you had in WCW.

Innovator 01-29-2004 12:56 PM

Vince and the writers need to look at boxing to learn how to run the cruiserweight divisions. When was the last time a welterweight fought a heavyweight or a flyweight fought anyone out of his weight class. It ruins the cruiserweight division to see Nunzio or Rey Rey fed to the Big Show or seeing Shannon Moore lose to Matt Morgan every week

and thats why you are a good poster. Points to you :y:

Send the Hurricane over to SD (with Rosey being promoted to a real superhero) so we have a superhero on each show.

Head 01-29-2004 02:21 PM

Meh, I'm not crazy about him, and I personally wouldn't really enjoy him being back, but the fact is that he did bring in a lot of money for the WWE with his t-shirt sales and what not.

I say bring him back while giving him minimal TV time but pimping the **** out of his presence.

Cuz it's not like Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, et al are well known.

Frankly, I think the reason CW's don't bring in ratings is because their matches have been constricted down to what the old Lightheavyweight matches were. It's just smaller guys wrestling a normal match. Of COURSE that's going to be boring. Just let the cruisers fly and go fast. That's one thing the old WCW did right. You want people to get excited about Cruisers? Lets them do their poetry in the ring. Not herky jerky constant floor wrestling. Let them perform new and innovative moves in the ring.

THAT would get people interested.

Shannon's kinda a different example for mne. I'd still like to see him booked as "The guy who goes toe to toe with giants."

Corkscrewed 01-29-2004 04:55 PM

Yeah. I'm glad they still at least remember that angle, as evidenced by the RR qualifier between A-Train and Moore. Also, you could see that Moore wasn't afraid of A-Train. He was actually kinda smirky.

He thought he was a big cuddly teddy bear...

Bad Guy 01-29-2004 04:58 PM

Bring him back even if it only attracts the girls. you know,
*music hits*

I just hope it goes somewhere. Him just being "fed" to tons of big guys is totally pointless. IT doesn't make the big men any bigger (taking on some "jobber" cruiserweight), and it certainly doesn't make him look good unless there is a resulting angle...

That was my favorite part of WCW every week. Jericho was amazing. I'd love to see WWE pull off something like that. It'll never happen though :(

I actually have the history of heel Jericho in WCW compilation tape :) The best part is when he holds a crusierweight battle royal to see who will face him for his title and he's announcing all the guys while they're entering, but making fun of them while he does it. Some of the comments he makes are hillarious. I remember he said this one guy couldn't afford to by a mask, so he just painted his face instead. LOL

No, I got it from this Wrestling Tape Site I always buy from. I'll give you the link. I actually got the 2nd tape you'll see, but the last one looks like the better one. I don't think that was available when I ordered though.

Odds are he's in negotiations because he was laughed off the stage.

YOUR Hero 01-29-2004 10:54 PM

If he comes back, he'll get a semi push, win the CW title, then it'll all come to an end as the division is once again neglected.

FakeLaser 01-29-2004 10:55 PM

Jeff Hardy sucks cock.

Savio 01-29-2004 11:28 PM

We still haven had a nice match with Rey and the dragon yet.

Corkscrewed 01-30-2004 12:38 AM

Maybe Jeff and RVD (who jumped to SD!) can form a CW tag team called the Stoned Crew.

123 kid 01-31-2004 06:30 PM

Yeh Jeff should definetely come back to the wwe its where he belongs look athis childhood jeff could reform the hardy boys with matt and move to raw and put a new tag tittle contender in instead of just dudleys and evolution ........bring back jeff!

Mr. JL 01-31-2004 07:15 PM

What does the WWE mean by rebuilding the cruiserweight scene? They have some of the best cruiserweights in the world today.

Rey Mysterio - Ultimo Dragon - Billy Kidman - Tajiri - Akio - Jamie Noble
Paul London - Chavo Guerrero - Hurricane - Shannon Moore - Nunzio - Scotty 2 Hotty - Funaki - Spike Dudley

Hell if thats not a good enough cruiserweight division for Vince McMahon than I don't know what the **** will satisfy him. They don't need Jeff Hardy in that division to make it worth while. Although, I'd gladly welcome Jeff Hardy back, but if McMahon thinks that Jeff will bring the cruiserweight to new levels he's really messed in the head.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2004 07:35 PM

I don't think hardy would help the CW division of all. IMO Matt was always the talented one. Jeff's good for a Ladder Match, that's about it. I wish him all the best, but I don't really want to see him return.

Let me break this down for you. ;)

This is the company that has buried Ultimo dragon.

This is the company that has given us a "Cruiserweight scene" that was composed for months almost exclusively of Tajiri/Knoble.

These are not the acts of a grounded group of thinkers...

I agree. Jeff was good in a tag team primarily because Matt did all the work, Jeff hit a few spots and got attention, and they were hailed as "High-Flying" and "X-Treme."
