Will Benoit Win The World Title at Wrestlemania?

I would really hope so, but I doubt it. Still going to vote yes to "stay positive" though.

YES

Taker Fan 01-29-2004 04:56 PM

I voted yes :D

Nowhere Man 01-29-2004 05:00 PM

No, I'm realistic. If Triple H won't even put over HBK and Nash anymore, there's no way in hell he's putting over Benoit, especially not at Wrestlemania. Besides, as the reports a few weeks ago said, the whole point of bringing Benoit over to Raw was so HHH can have "someone he can go over cleanly without much controversy."

Needless to say, I'm skipping Wrestlemania this year. In fact, I'm getting awfully close to just quit watching altogether.

Darkone 01-29-2004 05:03 PM

I'm with Nowhere Man.

It would be wonderful, one of the great momments in wrestling to people like me who have watched Benoit since his days in WCW in 1994, and watched tapes of him in ECW. It would be a momment on level with HBK's first win.

No chance in hell of it actually happening now. Benoint is the Million Dollar Man of are time.

I know. BUT he's going off to film some crap so I figure Benoit still has maybe a 10% chance.

I don't play the odds :-\

Sephiroth 01-29-2004 05:11 PM

I know WWE will let HHH win, but i am still praying on my knees that Benoit will win, he must we all had enof of HHH and Goldberg.

Bad Guy 01-29-2004 05:17 PM

Hell no. All this build up only to get squashed at WrestleMania. Let's look at the facts
1. Triple H hates to job
2. Triple H rarely jobs
3. Take number 2, add in one of the main events at the most prestigous event ever WRESTLEFREAKINGMANIA, and I really doubt he will job there.
4. He's HHH.

You broke my dream, so that is why i am praying :p Dear Lord, let HHH gain more weight so that he can't wrestle

Bad Guy 01-29-2004 05:27 PM

lol

DS 01-29-2004 05:35 PM

I think it's destine to change holders at 'Mania. Thing is, if Beniot does win it, it will probably end up in HHH's hands by summer.

I still say Beniot will win it though.

SuperSlim 01-29-2004 05:37 PM

there is always hope but HHH? droppin it to who? Benoit? at where? MSG? WMXX? I highly doubt it

Disturbed316 01-29-2004 07:08 PM

I really want him to, but I'm gonna have to say no :(

blake639raw 01-29-2004 07:31 PM

Yes, even though I wouldn't be too surprised to see HHH win.

MVP 01-29-2004 07:41 PM

If he doesn't win it then WWE's writers are the stupidest people in the world considering how big his push is. Not to mention the rumor of Triple H leaving to film movies after WM. Is he just going to walk out on the company with the World title?

Well, considering that they just completely and totally dumped everything that Benoit was working for for the past couple of months by switching him without any explanation or sense of continuity, I'd hardly call that a push. They just completely scrapped his story from Smackdown, which not only makes Benoit's decision incomprehensible, but also tells the fans that Smackdown doesn't matter at all. Not only are they de-pushing Benoit, but burying SD completely. So yeah, WWE's writers have already proven themselves to be pretty damn stupid.

It's happened before. Hogan did it, and HHH has even more backstage pull than the Hulkster ever did. Yeah, it's bullshit, but them's the breaks.

Mr. JL 01-29-2004 09:50 PM

Ha, Triple H lose his title? Come on, thats the Triple H Championship were talking about. HA! Triple H is already dancing on Benoit's grave.

The Highlander 01-29-2004 10:33 PM

in WCW that belt had nameplates on it which stated the current champion. Triple H's name is pretty much written on the belt itself. Even though Hunter needs to lose the belt, even though he's responsible for the drop in the WWE's ratings while Vince is blasting the midcarders, and even though the face is supposed to win the belt at Wrestlemania, the fact remains that Triple H is a McMahon by marrage, and everything will continue to revolve around him.

NWA-TNA, PLEASE GET A TV DEAL!!!!

sensai86 01-29-2004 11:29 PM

I know he has a hard time to job,but it's Chris Beniot, not Goldberg

Rock Bottom 01-30-2004 12:11 AM

Knock out HHH backstage, put The Rock in an HHH costume, and voila, new champ.

Savio 01-30-2004 12:17 AM

Why don't we just kill HHH?

Rock Bottom 01-30-2004 12:26 AM

Because he would not sell the death.

I vote yes, and I am praying he does. I felt the same way about Booker T last year, and look what happened though, :-\ . So I don't know. I just hope beyond all hope Benoit wins this.

EazyMack 01-30-2004 02:13 AM

No way.

Word uuuup.

Mr. Nerfect 01-30-2004 06:11 AM

Yes, simply because they've put so much effort into benoit to make 2004 his year. Triple H winning would do nothing. Not only for the WWE, but for Triple H as well. It would be best in Hunter's interest to job to the underdog at biggest Pay-Per-View of the year, maybe even biggest WWE PPV ever. That way Triple H can get back in the run with a refreshed look.

And hey, look on the bright side, Benoit's RR win was one of the most decisive ever. I loved the way benoit actually acted like he won the wrestling lotto. Most guys go in there win, then go out like it was nothing. Benoit really sold that, and I hope he goes further in the WWE. If Benoit loses to trple H at Mania, at least he's been built up in the hunt, as well as having one of the biggest Royal Rumble wins o all time under his belt.

#1-norm-fan 01-30-2004 07:18 AM

I'm torn. Brock is sure to beat Goldberg since I'm pretty sure Goldberg is leaving after WM...

It's WrestleMania 20... it's being billed as the greatest ever... It HAS to end with something beyond great. It absolutely, positively CAN'T go off the air with a heel celebrating his win.

The main event will either be Brock-Goldberg or HHH-Benoit. HHH losing the title at the biggest event in wrestling history is unlikely but a face has to win...

I just don't know.

born angry 01-30-2004 07:32 AM

there has only ever been 1 heel champion who has left mania with the belt

oh you guessed it triple h

16 in the fatal four way
and last year against booker t

To be fair though, the only thing you had to worry about back then as far as TV goes was a superstars taping and a live PPV every 3 months. And Hogan was hardly ever on superstars regardless, unless he was just giving a promo. So it would of been considerably easier for Hogan to make a movie then, than Triple H making one now.

People today expect to see the champ every monday or thursday, or every other week at the very least. And definitely at every PPV.

ANYWAY..... When HHH came back to face Goldberg for the title. I stated "I will never again watch wrestling if HHH wins the title from Goldberg at that PPV". Thankfully (I think), HHH did not win at that particular PPV. My philosophy was anybody was better than HHH having the belt again.

Chris Benoit came over to WWE preety much as the WCW champion. He hovered around the IC title for awhile, got injured, came back and got lost in all the roster split business and only now has finally been given the push he deserves. If Benoit looses this match at wrestlemania then they have yet again completely destroyed his character. Come on, the guy has worked his ass off for this, and even if he does win you know HHH is going to get it back in 2-3 months so what's the big deal. Besides we all know HHH is looking to shatter Flair's record of having won the title the most times and ya can't do that without losing it every once in awhile.

Either way Benoit should win, if he doesn't, no big suprise. HHH sucks and should die. McMahon needs to see a psychiatrist.

born angry 01-30-2004 08:09 AM

to be fair though i think he was slated to win the title until he got injured
he was pretty much due to have the program that angle got with stone cold

Bad Guy 01-30-2004 03:13 PM

You do realize that HHH is basically a writer himself...?

Innovator 01-30-2004 03:39 PM

Even though HHH has more pull than the Sun, Benoit will win. The WWE never ****s up a feel good title chase and win.

What about Booker T last year? Triple H basically made himself out to be a racist, and he still went over 100% clean. Not even with a cheap shot or his usual sledgehammer. So the evil bigot Nazi champ wins without a whiff of controversy. No, that's not ****ed up at all.

What about Chris Jericho in 2002? Immediately after he started feuding with HHH for Wrestlemania, he was put on the back burner in order for Stephanie to get more TV time. So basically, it became HHH vs Stephanie, with Jericho in the background. Not only did it make Jericho look like a complete joke, but it made both the Rock and Stone Cold look like wusses for not being able to beat him in months prior.

I'm not even going into the way Bret Hart got shoved out of the spotlight at Mania 9. I'm not trying to be overly negative; I'm just saying that WWE is far from infallible when it comes to screwing up major storylines.

Savio 01-30-2004 04:13 PM

Benoit will win because If brock keeps his title @ NWO then the <s>WWE</s> the board of directors will not want both HHH/brock to walk out as champion. (Seeing as though brock has to beat Goldberg.)

Goldberg should put someone 'over' at Wrestle Mania. And not Brock Lesnar, he's already over. Goldberg .vs. Rob Van Dam would be pretty good to see in my opinion. It would make RVD look like a star if he went over.

Triple H wins because it is Wrestlemania and it is at MSG. Also because Triple H's ego is larger than Jupiter. It will not be a clean job for Benoit though. Benoit wins the belt at Backlash. That way Triple H's ego is strocked, and Benoit can still be the top face on RAW. If this doesn't happen than I will boycott all WWE shows and merchandise. Who's with me?

During the California Guvenatorial recall election, Arnold was referred to as having been married into the Kennedy family. What I meant, though, was that Paul Levesque is now Vince's son-in-law and therefore a family member.
