Austin/Jarret

I heard that they was some major heat between these two when they where both in the wwe in the late 90's. I also heard that Austin refused to wrestle Jeff Jarret in a match

Yeah apparently it stems to a comment Jarrett made to Austin way way back at an indy show or something, I read that somewhere, I dont know how true it is though.

I remember thinking it was real petty when i read it.

They wanted to push Jarrett into the main event scene (or at least try him out) Austin refused, Jeff lost to Chyna and the rest is history

The Naitch 02-23-2006 07:52 PM

when Austin was working for Jarrett's dad, he hated Jeff because he was looking at his check and JJ goes "I't aint gonna grow just by looking at it"

Austin felt that JJ got his spot because he was the son

Then in WWF, Austin still hadnt forgot about it.

Also, in the ring, Austin wanted his opponents to get rough during matches, like actually punch and put some physicality in it. JJ's style was soft and Austin didnt like it. He also thought that JJ wasnt at his level

Austin better watch his ass or else he's gonna get stroked.

Vastardikai 02-23-2006 08:56 PM

What Naitch and Dave said.

Truth is, I don't blame Austin. Jarrett was only a draw at one point in his entire career: Early-'90s, in Memphis. Even then, he was clearly second tier behind Lawler and Dundee. The fans probably wouldn't have cared about the feud. The fact that his title reigns contributed to the decline of WCW (not as much as David Arquette, but they didn't help), and that he gets X-Pac heat in the company he more or less runs...

That being said, Austin should have at least gave him one match.

I thought Debra could have possibly played a hand in Jarret leaving. I don't know what Jarret and Debra's relationship was (whether they were dating, best friends, or just together for business). Once Austin and Debra started dating things eventually boiled down to one of them leaving the company before they had a fist fight.

Does anyone know anything about this?

On a kinda unrelated note did Austin wrestle for World Class before going to Jarret and Lawler's promotion in Memphis/

JH 02-24-2006 08:04 AM

austin started in world class and went to uswa in memphis and from whast i read in austins book lawler was the only man running the company at the time he was there

austin said in his book that jarrett was'nt on his level and thats why he refused to wrestle him

It amazes me that people can misspell Jeff Jarrett's name, when he spent several years spelling it for us in his promos.

"J-E-double F J-A-double R-E-double T"

I think Jerry Jarrett was on the booking panel for the wwe around that time so he must have given away his shares in the uswa

You seem to omit the fact that almost no one was watching around that time. Especially most of the kids around here who started watching during the Attitude era.

Ain't I Great?

Loose Cannon 02-25-2006 04:18 PM

lol when I can't remember how to spell his last name at times, I always remember back to those promos and get it.
