JBL injured on SmackDown
February 22, 2006

This week on SmackDown during a six-man tag team match, JBL suffered a broken hand with a displaced bone. Surgery on that hand will take place first thing Thursday morning. WWE.com will have an update as soon as it becomes available.

This match pitting JBL, Finlay & Randy Orton against Rey Mysterio, Lashley & Chris Benoit can be seen Friday Night (8/7 CT) on UPN.

No Wrestlemania for JBL then I suppose.

Nervous Ferret 02-23-2006 03:05 AM

lol

Bad Company 02-23-2006 03:30 AM

Gutted, the WWE could really use him right now.

Corkscrewed 02-23-2006 03:40 AM

Ouch. Kinda sucks, although he gets less sympathy because he does have that history of being an ass hole. No denying that SD is worse off without him (I never imagined I'd be saying this two years ago).

Londoner 02-23-2006 03:48 AM

Great, another injury for Smackdown.I don't like JBL much but he was starting to become an important part of SD again and they've had so many injuries recently, this is why the roster split should end, so they don't get into this mess, because if the rosters are joined, there are obviously more wrestlers to use incase one gets injured.

However personally I think the person who plays JBL deserves to be injured right before wrestlemania.I doin't have much sympathy for him as I do for Smackdown.

CharismaInjection 02-23-2006 03:59 AM

JBL is great on the mic. I think he should still show up and cut promos. Maybe he can come out next week in a massive hand cast and say he almost killed himself to get in the ring but the people had to see a 'WRESTLING GOD!!!!'

Scarface 02-23-2006 04:45 AM

JBL has massive titties.

Funky Fly 02-23-2006 04:50 AM

Sucks for Smackdown.

RP 02-23-2006 05:06 AM

JBL is a god of wrestling. That really sucks cause he's one of my reason for being interested in WWE right now. Probably my only reason too.

JH 02-23-2006 07:38 AM

this just sucks

What Would Kevin Do? 02-23-2006 09:43 AM

Booooo

I like JBL :(

Fryza 02-23-2006 09:52 AM

Damn, he may be an asshole, but I never wish injuries upon people. WWE does not need them now. Hope he gets better soon.

The WWE should also use this to their advantage though. Get him in a cast and cutting promos building up a feud with someone.

Mayo 02-23-2006 12:09 PM

Nooooooooooooooo JBL :(

Who was he supposed to face at WM anyways?

CharismaInjection 02-23-2006 12:17 PM

Dunno, I was guessing some sort of Four Way for the US title or something?

mrslackalack 02-23-2006 01:36 PM

I hope they keep him on with an interview segment deal. That would be great since hes good on the mic.

Savio 02-23-2006 02:07 PM

How long could he be out for?

PureHatred 02-23-2006 02:18 PM

They should let Kennedy and JBL host a SNL type news segment weekly where they rip on the storylines, make fun of current events and take shots at Raw. The banter between those two for 10 minutes would blow away whatever Lashley squash match they would normally show.

Nervous Ferret 02-23-2006 02:24 PM

lol

Mayo 02-23-2006 03:04 PM

Dammit I better be able to see Gillian Hall in the time that JBL is out :-\

The Naitch 02-23-2006 03:13 PM

He should be the Co-GM of SD! with Teddy Schlong

Nervous Ferret 02-23-2006 03:20 PM

palmer cannon

Innovator 02-23-2006 03:31 PM

Corino had hand surgery and wrestled in 4 days....thats Corino though, the man

I'd say several weeks

I would love to see that.

Gertner 02-23-2006 04:43 PM

That really blows. I've always been a huge JBL. one of the best on the mic

UmbrellaCorporation 02-23-2006 06:39 PM

JBL FTW.

This is gay beyond all belief. :(

Y3J 02-23-2006 06:44 PM

Which hand is it? If his right hand is ok, he can still do all of his moves.

Fox 02-23-2006 07:03 PM

Oh well, he wasn't really doing anything. Jobbing to the Boogeyman doesn't mean much.

It's just unfortunate that he ended Bobby Lashley's undefeated streak, and Lashley isn't even going to get retribution.

Savio 02-23-2006 07:05 PM

Maybe Lashley broke it in the match SD! will play it off like retribution.

Mayo 02-23-2006 10:42 PM

Watched it here in Canada tonight.

*HIGHLIGHT SPOILERS BELOW*

There was a spot where JBL had his hand on the steel steps outside and Benoit ran into his hand, and so he must have actually injured him. Damn you Benoit :'(

aaaaa 02-24-2006 01:09 AM

JBL's not going anywhere. Remember Big Show recently wrestled with a broken hand. [/mark] :shifty:

Skippord 02-24-2006 01:28 AM

I really dont care

McDoogle 02-24-2006 09:12 AM

SPOILERS:

It was pretty insane when benoit did it cause you could hear JBL screaming loudly and Rey immediately finished the match and in the background you can see JBL waving his hands calling for help and Benoit actually goes to see if he's ok.

Corkscrewed 02-25-2006 01:01 AM

OUCH. For once, Benoit is the one injuring someone else. Well, actually, maybe not for once. He DID break Sabu's neck. But yeah, ouch. That looked like it hurt a lot. Basically, JBL wasn't able to pull his hand out of the steps, so when Benoit dropkicked the steps, they squished his hand against the pole.

Yikes.

What Would Kevin Do? 02-25-2006 01:04 AM

Yeah, I felt bad for JBL. By the look of things, it was the first one that did it, but then Benoit did it again. You could tell by the way he was screaming he was in horrible pain though.

Savio 02-25-2006 01:25 AM

benoit is too dangerous to work with

What Would Kevin Do? 02-25-2006 02:05 AM

Ya can't keep a wrestling GOD down...

NoDQ.com > WWE > Big JBL Update: Injury, WM22 Match With Benoit
Posted by Andy Steven on 02/24/2006 at 01:55 AM

Over at the WWE website features an update on JBL's condition following surgery to repair a broken hand with a displaced bone. JBL suffered the injury earlier this week at the SmackDown tapings competing in a six man tag team match.

There is a video on the website from the surgery, featuring comments from JBL and his doctor. The video can be seen at WWE.com.

In the video, JBL is claiming that Chris Benoit tried to end his career by injuring his hand, hinting that they'll be fighting at WrestleMania. Neither JBL nor Chris Benoit is booked for another match against each other. WrestleMania 22 would be a great place for both participants to go at it against each other. JBL also said, to end a guy's career, you have to do more than go after someone's hand.

The doctor is quoted as saying JBL's hand is injured, however they want to get him back doing what he does ASAP.

Apparently a WWE source said that the surgery seemed to go well, giving an indication that the injury isn't serious enough to keep him out of WrestleMania.

DaVe 02-25-2006 02:24 AM

I hope he still is good enough to do his radio show - I'd love to hear what he has to say about it.

Corkscrewed 02-25-2006 03:01 AM

I dunno, he hurt his hand. And as everyone in the entire world knows, if you don't have a healthy hand, your speaking skills is affected, because the hand completely controls speaking....

Savio 02-25-2006 03:02 AM

Actually corky contrary to popular belief that is not true.
