What is the funniest movie you have ever seen?

The Big Lebowski is seriously the fucking funniest movie ever. It is not so much a huge hilarious laugh out loud movie as it is subtly funny. I can seriously watch that movie 10,000 times and never ever get tired of it. There are so many little jokes and all the acting and different characters and overall weirdness of the movie just makes it incredible. There are so many parts in the movie that I just keep thinking about and they just make me ROFL right now. Gotta watch it again like tonight.

Other notables:

Clerks, The Naked Gun, Napoleon Dynamite, Office Space, Old School, There's Something About Mary, Wet Hot American Summer

D Mac 03-01-2006 01:15 AM

Airplane!

Also, White Men Can't Jump, Meet The Parents, Happy Gilmore, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Top 3:

The Royal Tenenbaums
Tommy Boy
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.

The Big Lebowski is golden. That's my first pick... I'm not trying to think of a decent followup movie... Clerks is good, but IMO Napoleon Dynamite and Office Space are really overrated...

Maybe Army of Darkness... Or The Princess Bride.

Actually, fuck it. Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels. That and Snatch.

Triple A 03-01-2006 01:21 AM

I hate both of those movies. (Lock Stock and Snatch)

Blitz 03-01-2006 01:26 AM

Snatch is greatness.

RP 03-01-2006 01:26 AM

Spinal Tap

I don't know I just hated them. Like they were not funny at all to me and just annoyed the shit out of me. I couldn't get into them at all.

To each their own. I have that problem with a lot of "popular" comedies, like Old School, Dodgeball, etc. The major exception being Anchorman, which I loved, and to a lesser extend, Wedding Crashers.

The first Austin Powers was way better then Shagged Me IMO.

John la Rock 03-02-2006 12:25 AM

Office Space hands down

runner ups: Happy Gilmore and Dumb and Dumber

Shaved Monkey 03-02-2006 04:20 PM

The Jerk.

I cannot help but  whenever I watch that movie.

Indifferent Clox 03-02-2006 04:46 PM

annie hall
dr. strangelove
life aquatic
a night in paris (has me cracking up every time.. the cell phone part is comedy gold)

Team Sheep 03-02-2006 04:52 PM

Just watched Green Street yesterday. That's pretty funny, the whole vision of a yank joining a football hooligan group.

Bad Company 03-02-2006 05:06 PM

Billy Madison, Haggard.

Fryza 03-02-2006 05:36 PM

Snatch, Spinal Tap, Super Troopers, Dumb and Dumber, and Wrongfully Accused.

Arnold HamNegger 03-02-2006 06:19 PM

The 40 Year old Virgin is the funniest I've seen in a while....with a few cocktails of course.

AareDub 03-03-2006 12:20 AM

Not sure what would be the funniest, but I never get tired of Office Space and Road Trip. Oh, and Eurotrip is pretty good too.

redoneja 03-03-2006 01:05 AM

Triple A had it right with White Hot American Summer, and I also have a fondness for Eurotrip.

Skippord 03-03-2006 03:14 AM

Club Dread, Super Troopers, BASEketball, Anchorman, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Wrongfully Accused, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Serial Killing 101.

Dave Youell 03-03-2006 05:34 AM

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

For pure quoting hilarity, Anchorman is my favorite. Dunno the first time I saw it it was like "heh, worth the admission", but now every time I think about anything ever I think of an appropriate Anchorman quote and rofl irl.

YOUR Hero 03-03-2006 10:15 AM

Wedding Crashers. I'll that that to the list simply since it hasn't been mentioned yet. Many of the ones you guys already mentioned were right up there for me.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-03-2006 10:55 AM

Wedding Crashers is the only movie I've ever cried at from laughing so hard so that might be it.

loopydate 03-03-2006 05:19 PM

Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb

It's a little sad/scary because of how true it could have been, but it's also incredibly funny. "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"

Honorable mention might go to A Knight's Tale. One of my favorite movies, even though most people seem to not like it.

Arnold HamNegger 03-03-2006 07:05 PM

Caddyshack.

Downunder 03-03-2006 07:07 PM

The Castle.

Why do people wank (or jo in Triple A's case) over The Big Lebowski?

loopydate 03-03-2006 07:11 PM

I like Lebowski, but it's not my favorite Coen movie. I prefer Raising Arizona and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Arnold HamNegger 03-03-2006 07:46 PM

When it first came out in the theaters, Eddie Murphy's "Raw" was untouchable.

FakeLaser 03-03-2006 08:10 PM

The Naked Gun is my personal favorite.

D Mac 03-04-2006 01:06 AM

Aren't we forgetting Police Academy?

People call me the Bry man; I'm the stylish one of the group. I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon. But I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater. You ladies play your cards right you just might get to meet the whole gang.

My ex had "Big Lebowski parties," where they drank white russians and watched it. I thought, ok, that's the most retarded thing of all time, and even though she had hot friends and there were no guys going... I couldn't do it. I didn't want to mock them for two hours. The Coens annoy me.

But my answer would be Kung Pow! and "Fear of a Black Hat," to add to the ones that have already been mentioned. Oh, and Half Baked.

I didn't see anyone mention the movie that made me laugh nonstop:

Badder Santa. Everyone must see it.
