Doug Williams = the man

Stickman 03-10-2006 11:43 AM

What a stupid name "The X Cup." Is X supposed to be a mean way of saying EXTREEEEEME?

What does the "X" in "X Division" stand for?

It doesn't stand for anything, save for the sole requirement of being an X div contender...

X Division is a pretty stupid name too.

Xero 03-10-2006 02:52 PM

It certainly doesn't stand for "XTREEEEMMMMEE", as "Dick" Nick Mondo has never competed in it.

Fryza 03-10-2006 02:55 PM

I'm unimpressed.

But at least it sounds cool. Just say it. "X Division Championship." It's catchy.

Plus, it separates them from the WWE even more. WWE doesn't have an X Division. TNA has one, and it absolutely kicks ass. Simple. Would you rather they copied everyone else and called it the TV Title? Or the US or even the Intercontinental Title? Or limited it to lower-weight superstars by calling it the Cruiserweight Title, which would mean we wouldn't be seeing the awesome Joe/Styles/Daniels feud right now?

No, it's TNA, and they have the X Division. And like I said, it kicks ass.

You mean the X Division Championship isn't a cruiserweight championship without a weight limit?

I mean, it's not like they never had heavyweights with the championship before Joe (not counting feuds)...

Oh wait, they didn't...

Kane Knight 03-10-2006 07:36 PM

X Division sounds stupid.

Avenger 03-10-2006 07:44 PM

Yeah but they have a stupid six sided ring.

Kane Knight 03-10-2006 08:03 PM

Is it that WWE can't touch them, or that they wouldn't waste the time?

I don't much care about the six sided ring one way or another. However, I think from a TV perspective, it's a worse choice. Just not so much worse that I overtly hate it.

Nark Order 03-10-2006 11:13 PM

Alex Shelley better own that shiiiiiiit.

TNA's X Division is better wrestling-wise than anything WWE has going today.

I respect you Kane Knight, but come on, WWE is jealous of TNA's X Division. Only since the emergence of TNA as a national wrestling show (on Spike TV) have the WWE allowed their cruiserweights more air time and more mobility and freedom to hit the big, exciting spots in their matches, or even HAVE matches on TV (that's not Velocity or Heat) and PPV.

If they were jealous of TNA, they would do something about it. The Cruisers have not had any more serious airtime than before. You might as well argue that the tag team invitationals on SD are a result of them being jealous of LAX.

Further more, the "more" air time has been sporradic and in spurts, which more or less fits the pattern they've been in for years with the belt. This is a really cheap way to try and chalk "business as usual" up to "WWE fears TNA."

Returned last April. Still no explanation as to why he retired in the first place.

Stickman 03-11-2006 12:17 PM

they should get rid of the 6 sided ring and have the ring be an X

PullMyFinger 03-11-2006 12:57 PM

I had a dream TNA made the 7 sided ring one time lolol

I heard he had a serious neck injury, something along those lines. Maybe by now he'll have cut down on the spotfests :-\
