WWE Shopzone:Are merchandise prices TOO HIGH?

Now here is an area that I have encountered where WWE needs to be looked at negatively.

I think the shop zone prices BREAK THE BANK.

$25 for the newest shirts? Plus shipping? $25 for a pendant?

Now, I'm not one of those people who is hesistant to show their colors in the street and support their favorite stars, but to be honest, these prices are jacked up. $20 should be tops for T-shirts and stuff like pendants and etc are really not worth as much when you can get a DVD for $20.

How many of you have ordered from WWE Shop Zone recently? Did you find the prices to be too high as I did? Are there any superstars that you think WWE missed in merchandise?

I think WWE pretty much has every star with merchandise that is COST EFFECTIVE to have merchandise for, but the prices are too high when you think about shipping and such. I am just curious in what the other fans think ??

This T-Shirt is hilarious

The prices aren't high, one or two bad apples ruin it for the rest of them.

I hope you guys can graduate from KINDERGARDEN  and have a serious discussion.

Xero 03-15-2006 04:25 PM

Just to let you know, shirts have been $25 for wrestling (and more money for other things) for a LONG time. This is nothing new.

Vermaat 03-15-2006 04:32 PM

That doesn't make the price appropriate and it is actually more then that with shipping

Team Sheep 03-15-2006 04:34 PM

The only time I buy a wrestling shirt is at live events. I like to go all out at shows, just to get into the atmosphere. Then I just use them for rugby practice or something.

But, you see, if they lowered it, they wouldn't make money. After all, those bad apples are not buying them.

I'm sure it was brought up in the other thread, but the WWE is a publicly traded corporation. They don't give two shits about their fans. The only thing they care about is making money. If something moves, they're going to hike the price up.

If someone is popular with a certain demographic (See: Cena-Women/Children), they're going to hike up the prices on that person's merchandise for that demo. If it doesn't move for that or any demo, they're going to stop producing them and get rid of their stock.

This coming from someone who found a "Do you spit or swallow" t-shirt hilarious.

You know, the fact that you reacted in that way reeks of irony.

But your statements that they are too high and BREAK THE BANK seem to be fucked by the sheer fact the shit sells. If it was higher than people could pay (Breaks the bank), it wouldn't be selling. If it was higher than people would pay (too high), it wouldn't be selling.

WWE has always charged a lot for shirts, and the merch has done well. You talk about cost effectiveness, why do you think it's cost effective? Yeah.

Vermaat 03-15-2006 07:32 PM

I said that they have merchandise only for those stars that it's cost effective to have merchandise for (one that sell). And yeah, the merchandise is cost effective and good for business, but I think if it was a little lower people would buy even more. Do you?

Kane Knight 03-15-2006 07:38 PM

Would it be cost effective?

Kane Knight 03-15-2006 07:41 PM

You see, here's the thing. It's an economic issue. If they lower the prices, they need to make more sales to cover the price difference, or they take a hit, which may make supplying so many shirts ineffectual. If more people buy the lower priced merchandise, they can still see themselves making less money than before.

The problem is, wrestling is back to being a niche market, meaning it's probably not cost effective to lower prices in hopes that more people will buy, because they really don't have the fanbase to merit it anymore. Further, they seem to be satisfied with the prices. While it may or may not be a smart business decision, they have little reason to change if they're satisfied with sales.

Vermaat 03-15-2006 07:50 PM

well I think you're right. It's just the fan in me wanting more shirts.

And that's just it. The WWE doesn't give a shit about you unless you're buying shit from them. When you are, they still don't give a shit, they just take your money.

V 03-15-2006 08:38 PM

yeah. The decision to lower prices will make or break the wwe.

CHAIN GANG SOLJAAAAH

WORD LIFE

V 03-15-2006 08:39 PM

if da wwe don't lower their prices

they CAN'T SEE ME!

V 03-15-2006 08:39 PM

god damn, this guy has got me making fun of one of my own favourite wrestlers :nono:

XL 03-15-2006 09:29 PM

Just a question...

How many of you guys on here actually wear wrestling t-shirts?

and on a side note, is this guy obsessed with things breaking?

Kane Knight 03-15-2006 09:33 PM

I wear only plain black T-Shirts period.

If I were gonna wear merch Tees, I'd probably start with bands, but I think I might actually wear a couple of the wrestling shirts I've seen. Especially the Eddie tribute//memorial shirt, which I need to get anyway.

Y3J 03-15-2006 09:34 PM

Those who can't buy, sell.

Those who can't sell, are sold.

I don't except to events. They're basically collector things for me.

My favorites include my SummerSlam 1998 shirt and my Cactus Jack shirt.

(That was sort of random... :shifty: )

I used to, but I stopped once I stopped wearing baggy clothes. Their smalls are too large for me right now. I would if I was bigger.

How tall are you?

I think I'm just under 6'. The problem is that I'm thin (Not skinny. I've gained enough weight to upgrade to thin).

Things are always messed up for me.

* The length fits
* The neck fits
* The chest area is usually somewhat ok (I work out so I have pecs and lats[not huge, but I do have some])
* The arms are baggy
* The body is baggy around my stomach and back.

If I could gain another 20lbs It'd be fine. They're never insanely baggy, I just like my shirts kind of almost tight.

Kane Knight 03-15-2006 10:42 PM

Gah. I'm 6'5" but even if I was in shape, I'm broad as all fuck.

RGWhat316 03-15-2006 11:17 PM

I don't think the Shopzone prices are too bad. I just recently bought the Divas DVD/Magazine package since it was cheaper together than buying them apart. And I usually only buy shirts at live events, and even then I'll get 1 or 2. Plus at the live events, you just pay the $25. No shipping, no tax involved.

JH 03-16-2006 12:06 AM

i took advantage of the free shipping and bought the triple h broken skulls shirt in january
i also have the rey mysterio black & white face shirt,a orton legend killer shirt, jericho old wwf y2j comic book shirt,a nwo white & red letter shirt and 2 cena shirts and yes i wear them very often

I just chalked it up to him being a wigger and all. You know, like saying things like Excape?

alvarado52 03-16-2006 03:04 PM

yea ill tell you man, these shopzone prices are either make it or break it when it comes to your personal wardrobe

Vermaat 03-16-2006 05:52 PM

I wear a lot of wrestling T-Shirts but not on a daily basis cause I don't want them to get ruined. Wear them from time to time. Kinda like a special occasion item because I don't order the shirts that often so I don't want to ruin the ones I got especially the ones they don't make anymore.

Oh and making fun of a typo is really hilarious and shows your intelligence and the fact that you never make typos
