The Kids in the Hall is not that funny

Everyone seems to love this show for some reason. I never found it funny at all back in the day, but I just downloaded the first season yesterday to give it another chance and wow, it is not funny AT ALL. Like holy shit some of these skits are horrendous. I dunno how anyone could find them funny. A couple of the skits are decent but overall, wow. I dunno.

Some of them yes. Lettuce Head is horrible.

Some of them are golden. Anything with Buddy Guy is great (IMO). I'm also a huge fan of the Citizen Kane sketch. But I can see why you hate it.

Indifferent Clox 03-29-2006 09:55 PM

yeah i hate kids in the hall it's just gross..

Boondock Saint 03-29-2006 10:39 PM

Yeah, not a fan.

loopydate 03-29-2006 10:40 PM

Ditto. My best friend's fiancee loves it, but I just...don't. Some of the guys who came out of KITH are funny, but as a whole, the show wasn't.

It's amazing that people treeat this show as though it was a major phenomenon, when it was little more than a cult hit.

Dude, it's not surprising you don't find it funny. YOU'RE IN THE MAJORITY. That's like saying, "i'm a fan of breathing!" or "I don't know why people like herpes so much."

It had some ROFL moments over the years. It's because of Scott Thompson that it had any substantive following. "OMG he's openly gay..."
Then they took that angle and drove it into the ground.

It has its moments, but yeah it was never more than a cult hit, Like KK said.

Only seen like 1 episode and didn't like it. Hence only seeing 1 episode.

Shaved Monkey 03-30-2006 11:48 AM

Alot of the people I know love that show. I don't know why.... :?:

Gertner 03-30-2006 12:29 PM

it was one of my fav shows

Savio 03-30-2006 09:55 PM

Coulda sworn you liked em 2 years ago

KillerWolf 03-30-2006 10:08 PM

only one good skit comes to mind. overall i'd say they relied too heavily on cross-dressing. a man dressed as an incredibly ugly woman is not necessarilly funny.

Boomer 03-30-2006 11:02 PM

They one with them at the poker table in Season 1 is golden too. That skit is fucking hilarious.

Gertner 03-30-2006 11:05 PM

lol come on, you don't find Gavin funny?

It was funny when Monty Python did it, but that was also because they had...what's it called...good writing to go along with it.

I've got a rep for anyone who can produce a clip of him on Conan. The funniest thing I've ever seen. Conan was ready to cry. He thought he was going to get fired.

YOUR Hero 04-02-2006 01:37 PM

I seem to remember the "caring and feeding your new sex-slave" as being a funny skit.

They relied on cross dressing because they were originally a five man comedy troupe and had to do all the parts themselves. Not because "Hahahahaha...Guys in drag are FUNNY!"
