ECW PPV Main Event Revealed?

ECW PPV Main Event Revealed?

04/05/2006 - An advertisement in the pay per view preview guide I received today lists ECW One Night Stand and it mentions "...watch as Rob van Dam challenges Triple H for the WWE Championship Belt." Also it lists a pay per view for Q4 known as Cyber Sunday. I guess they renovated the Taboo Tuesday pay per view. (Thanks to NY Sports Red)

Sounds gay ass. Triple H ain't no ECW wrestler. Plus, Triple H has all the stroke in the world to lay down the match to how he wants it to go down. (NOT RVD in ECW style match format).

Mr. JL 04-06-2006 12:03 AM

The potential chants from the crowd could be priceless though... I must admit.

HeartBreakMan2k 04-06-2006 12:08 AM

Gay. No WWE title should be on the line at the ECW event, especially the world title defended by a wrestler who wasn't an ECW alumni.

McLegend 04-06-2006 12:12 AM

Why not? I could get the non ECW worker, but I would think ECW fans would love if RVD won another company's World title at an ECW event.

The Naitch 04-06-2006 12:15 AM

what the gay?

Bad Company 04-06-2006 12:17 AM

how stupid.

I think the fans would be insulted, and potentially turn on RVD for even going along with it.

ECW fans may be happy with the event, true ECW fans (like myself) would be really irritated, insulted and annoyed that a ECW reunion show (which should have only happened once, not been a once a year thing anyway) will revolve around a Triple H match.

Mr. Nerfect 04-06-2006 12:24 AM

Bad, bad, bad idea. Why the fuck is the WWE Championship being defended on an ECW show? Stupid. I swear to God, I will not order the show if the main event if Triple H vs. RVD.

Dorkchop 04-06-2006 12:28 AM

I am for RVD vs HHH for the WWE championship (With RVD winning). I am not for RVD facing HHH for the title at ECW ONS. That PPV is supposed to be a reunion show for ECW alumni.

Pepsi Man 04-06-2006 12:28 AM

Look, Heyman had his One Night Stand last year. Now, even moreso, ECW's name is ONLY being used to generate sales.

That doesn't mean we have to like it. Hopefully the "WWE presents "ECW"" stint will fall flat on its ass. The only World Title I'd like to see RVD win at One Night Stand is the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. I dunno, have him challenge Sandman or something for the vacant title. Then he can bring the ECW Title to WWE and get top billing, leading to a unification match, where RVD beats Triple H for the WWE Championship, unifying the two belts.

Corkscrewed 04-06-2006 12:42 AM

Vince McMahon booked GOD in a match.

This should hardly be a surprise or an outrage. ;)

What Would Kevin Do? 04-06-2006 12:51 AM

Why not have him challenge mysterio damnit?

Skippord 04-06-2006 12:53 AM

Hey as long as it ends with RVD winning I'm cool

Yeah, but to ECW fans, God's not as over as RVD!

Fox 04-06-2006 01:44 AM

If they do it right, this could be one of the greatest nights in not only WWE history, but post-ECW history as well.

Triple H is viewed by ECW and internet fans as the anti-Christ of professional wrestling. He's married to Vince McMahon's daughter, he's been a 10-time World Champion, he's buried legions of talented superstars (Kane, Jericho, RVD, Booker T, etc, etc), and his character is tired.

Rob Van Dam IS ECW. He's the epitome of what the company stood for, and he's arguable the most over star in the company's history. Yet, he never won the big one in ECW, and he's never won the big one in WWE.

For RVD to come out on RAW and say he's inacting his Money in the Bank clause at ECW One Night Stand 2 because he wants to win the big one in front of his hardcore fans, and he wants to dethrone the "king of kings" in front of his hardcore fans, and I think people will get behind him.

It's RVD (representing ECW) vs. Triple H (representing WWE) and if they do it right it could go over huge and put RVD in the main event tier forevermore.

WikkidRevenge 04-06-2006 01:48 AM

As much as id love to see RVD as World Champion I just dont see it....I dont see it happening because RVD is a liability...He's more likely to get injured by the risks he takes in every match...And with him having the World Title around his waist he wouldnt be able to risk himself as much...

Remember, when Mike Awesome was ECW Champion and was leaving the company for WCW, it was decided upon to bring in Tazz to take the belt off of him. The problem with this is that Tazz was currently a WWE wrestler.

This wouldn't be tarnishing the ECW legacy by including a WWE Championship match on an ECW PPV. If anything, having a WWE wrestler who was formerly an ECW wrestler win the ECW Title should have been seen as more damaging and insulting to the ECW name, but it wasn't. It was done because it was entertaining. And a HHH/RVD match inside the ECW Arena in which RVD actually defeats The Game would certainly fall under the category of entertaining.

The One 04-06-2006 01:50 AM

"The King of Kings" Triple H vs. "The King of Kronik" Rob Van Dam

Nah, there's a difference there. Taz had still done quite a bit for ECW, and was still hugely over, and he had no problem coming back the next week or whenever it was and putting Dreamer over.

Schoenauer 04-06-2006 02:00 AM

I hope there's a reason for this... *coughDXreunionandinvasionpleasecough*

The One 04-06-2006 02:04 AM

DO NOT HAVE A DX REUNION! DO NOT BRING BACK DX, HORSEMEN, nWo, OR ANY OTHER STABLE! FIND SOMETHING NEW, REHASHED ANGLES ALWAYS FAIL!

The Heat 04-06-2006 02:11 AM

"RVD Vs. HHH" for the WWE Title @ ECW ONS?

What next? Macho Man Randy Savage Vs. Ric Flair "Viagra on a Pole" match @ WCW Resurrected?

  The things Vinnie Mac will do for ratings....

Doesn't change the fact that he was an active WWE wrestler beating a soon-to-be WCW wrestler for the ECW Title in the ECW arena.

The One 04-06-2006 02:30 AM

Triple H has never touched ECW (he wasn't even at the arena for last years show) so the though process is what purpose does he have at a reunion show? That's like going to your rival high school's 20th reunion. The Tazz/Awesome situation was VERY different then this one. Both Tazz and Awesome were former ECW Main Eventers, Triple H is the poster child for the very thing ECW spent years rebeling against. Now I personally think if done right this could work out, I don't have a lot of faith in them doing it right, but it could be done...oh and it's not comparable to Tazz/Awesome.

The End for The One.

An active former ECW wrestler, who had done so much for the company and had beaten all of the company's greats already.

Doesn't change the fact that Triple H never competed in ECW a day in his life.

Rammsteinmad 04-06-2006 03:26 AM

A couple of weeks ago on Smackdown Michael Cole said you can use the MITB for any title.

A hint that RVD will challenge Rey Mysterio?

RVD has one of the best injury free careers in the business despite his 'style'. He's been wrestling for almost 15 years and been injured two times where he had to take significant time off. Once in 2000 and then last year.

You can't not push someone because they might get injured because they do certain moves. Triple H planted his foot and was out for ten months. 6 Months or so after Stone Cold broke his neck and was temporarily paralyzed in the middle of the ring, the WWF put THE title on him.

Plus, this is the WWE. They hardly give RVD enough time in the ring to do a rolling thunder before the ref whispers for him to 'come home' and go for the pin.

Why all the pessimism? Imagine if RVD actually beats HHH for the championship? Now wouldn't that be a classic ECW memory?

Pinnacle Charisma 04-06-2006 07:48 AM

RVD needs to come out before hand and make a long heartfelt promo about how much ecw meant to him, what a great time in his life it was when he was in ecw and how much he would have like to win the ecw world title. And he should say if he won the ecw world title it would have been the highlight of his career but winning the world heavyweight title would be the next best thing.

I think it might be hard for the ecw crowd to boo RVD after doing something like that.

Shaggy 04-06-2006 07:53 AM

there is only one way this could work out good....

RVD winning the belt....

Thats it...having Triple H on that ppv already makes me pissed off but it would be great aslong as RVD walks out with the belt...I would hate to hear the crowd chants if Triple H won...

Londoner 04-06-2006 08:19 AM

Oh man, imagine the crowd if HHH wins...

Mr. JL 04-06-2006 08:55 AM

Yeah, I can't even picture what the ECW fans would do if/when they hear "The King of Kings" by Motorhead blast on the sound system.

"mumumumumumu true fans of EE THEE DUBYA Will...'

SHUT. THE FUCK. UP.

Why the fuck is a "true ECW" fan filling Vinnie Mac's coffers to watch an empty shell of a promotion in the first place?

Stop your blubbering, folks. If you were expecting the real ECW to magically treturn in all its glory, you haven't been paying attention, probably because your mommies fed you out of house-paint cans when you were younger.

Xero 04-06-2006 10:14 AM

Horrible idea. I don't mind the WWE title being on the line at ECW ONS. I don't mind it not being an "ECW Style" match. But I draw the fucking line at non-ECW wrestlers wrestling in the main event.

It should be RVD/Mysterio, not anything else.

TerranRich 04-06-2006 10:53 AM

Don't talk about my mommie like that, KK! :foc: ECW will "treturn"! I KNOW IT!!!! YARGGHHH!!!!!!111!1!11!11½
