Will the WWE ever be thrown off the air in the US?

We all know that Vince loves to push the media's buttons, so do you think there is something that they could do that is so offensive that their network just throws them off? If so (or even if not) what would it be?

I don't think they will be thrown off the air in US as they have all the money they need to keep them on air. When Shane takes over i think that will certainly keep them on air for a long time.

Not for a long time. But nothing stays on TV forever, especially if it's crap. So if Vince keeps letting himself slide...

Londoner 04-11-2006 11:59 AM

Also, do you really think Vince would do the stuff that he does if he thought this could happen?

The WWE doesn't do anytihng that is considered illegal by the FCC. So barring some sort of accidental display of full frontal nudity, the WWE isn't getting tossed off the air. They might stir up the occasional hornet's nest, and I'm sure eventually some right wing religious group will pipe up about the current God vs Vince angle, but media backlash is a long ways form being actually thrown offf the air.

Now losing their show (or shows) due to a drop in ratings....well, we still haven't heard UPN give SD a long term renewal so that's still up in the air...

Uhhh...PH? Reality check. Xero asked if their NETWORK would throw them off, not if they'd ever get taken off the air because the FFC had a hissyfit.

All they have to do is do something either extremely sexual or something that really, really, REALLY pushes the bounds of religion. That's America's two moral hotpoints (the former being more effective than the latter).

So if he showed like... nudity on WWE TV, he could get thrown off the air.

Conversely, if he brought out the roster and had them do a Russian knee dance about how awesome Iran is...

They were thrown off NBC and Spike TV when they didn't renew their respective deals. Same way WCW got kicked off the Turner stations. Difference was WWE found a new network.

Or the programming could be that bad.

No chance in hell.

They'd just make their own station.

You mean like WWE 24/7?

Because they don't have the money to have their own cable channel.

Don't they? They have over $250 million in cash reserves just sitting their doing nothing.

And they have enough money to piss away on XFL's, movie division's, 2 music label's, ICO PRO, WBF, etc
