Rick Rude/ Sting heat?
So what was the story with the real life hatred between these two? All I know is that Sting broke Rude's back in a match which lead to Rude's retirement. And that Rick Rude hated Sting for it until the day he died. That's all I really know. I don't even know when the injury took place. So does anybody know the details of what all happened?

Sting and Rude had a match in Japan. Sting went for a dive over the top rope, Rude caught him, but he landed on this wooden board really hard. This caused Rude to blow out two of his vertabrae. Rude blamed Sting for being careless with the dive.

Here's where things went horribly wrong in this match. You can't really tell here but Rude is actually standing on a raised platform. Of course, Sting is flying toward him. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...captureD65.jpg Sting slams into Rude, forcing him backwards. Now you can see the raised platform at the left of the picture. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...captureD66.jpg Rude's back remains on part of the platform. His head is bent back and strikes the floor. Rude suffered career-ending neck and back injuries as a result of this. Yet he COMPLETED THIS MATCH! |
