If the question is DESERVES, then Kurt Angle, without a shout of a doubt. Hes simply the best, whether you consider the gimmick stale or not.

Wouldnt mind it going around Batista's waist again considering he never "lost" the belt to an actual opponent during a match...

But he isnt going to be fighting MIdget-Boy for it surely because of the Eddie Guerrero tie-in, so Rey's gonna have to lose it first against someone so Batista can have a match against them.

Rey loses to Kane, Kane to Batista (after Kane's movie bombs).

If it wasn't for the Eddie push there wouldn't be so much Rey hate, the guy has busted his ass off since he was 14 years old! Plus he rarely has bad matches and can work with anyone.

Therefore I feel he deserves a run with the title.

Angle has had the title loads of times, granted he's awesome, but I feel Rey was one of the only guys who's active right now and has had such a long path without a title (like the same path of Benoit and Eddie)
