"Hardcore" Bob Holly has potentially deadly infection

Here's the latest on Bob's situation...
---
The staph infection he got in the ring around August of last year turned into MSRA , they thought they had cured it, but when he had surgery on his right elbow in February it came back full force landing him back in the hospital in March. Everything seemed to be going ok until around the 7th or 8th of April when he came down with what we thought was a bad case of the flu (fever, chills, and then his arm began to swell). We went back to the doctor and he was admitted directly to the hospital that night and emergency surgery was scheduled the next morning. We stayed in the hospital until they put a PIC line in and got the results of the cultures back from surgery showing it was indeed still the MSRA which had gotten into his blood and also embedded his elbow joint. Unfortunately the only antibiotic that will probably get rid of it once and for all has to be administered by IV once every 12 hours for about the next 6 weeks. He has been on and off antibiotics since September of last year fighting this infection when he first got it, which really created a super strain infection resistant to everything they have given him. Now we are fighting along with that damage to other organs probably caused from such strong meds. They are monitoring him closely here at home, taking blood every other day now, delivering the medication to us daily, and at least trying to let him be here instead of at the hospital. The results on Friday were a little scary and they started him on an additional medication because his platelet level and potassium level were very high. Hopefully things will start to turn around and they will get this all out of his system without any long term damage to his kidneys.
---
We encourage all Bob Holly fans to support Bob in this tough time! Any cards or anything from fans to cheer him up would be great! He is so ready to be back in the ring and all of this is very disheartening. He is a fighter and wants to be back to the ring and like I said we encourage you to drop Bob a note. The website (www.bobhollyacademy.com) has the address! Thanks everyone!

Gabe added this.

Being an EMT I wanted to give a little insight on the MSRA virus. This is a virus that is usually found in hospitals (scary thought) and can be VERY deadly. About 10% of people who get MSRA will die of complications from the infections that it can cause. This is not just a case of a wrestling being a little sick. This can possibly end an athlete's career. Just to give an idea of how bad that this situation MAY be. If y'all are praying people, send one out for him.

Shit, that sucks. Hope he gets through alright.

McLegend 04-23-2006 07:40 PM

I may not like Holly, but that sucks.

Kane Knight 04-23-2006 07:43 PM

Fuck. Never thought I'd be wishing Bobcore well...But nobody deserves that.

Londoner 04-23-2006 07:45 PM

I have to agree with what's been said so far in this thread.

Bad Company 04-23-2006 07:46 PM

who was it that got a staph infection in their elbow last time? Stone Cold?

Bricktop 04-23-2006 07:47 PM

wow, lot of errors in that medical report. Sounds like he has Multi-Drug Resistant Staph Arueus (MRSA). SA is the most common nosocomial infection (a bacterial infection you get while in a hospital for surgery or what not). From what I have been taught in school its a bitch to get rid of and is fatal in immunosuppresed individuals.

Jonster 04-23-2006 07:48 PM

Not good :(

[Oh christ, you just know you jinx yourself when you say shit like that :nono: ]

Not a word of that made any sense to me.

Wait. I understood "errors"

Basically hospitals are teaming with bacteria from housing all the sickest patients in society. Because physicians use antibiotics so often and patients often fail to finish their prescription, resistance develops. MRSA is the worst of the bunch. It is resistant to many forms of antibiotics and often can infect healthy patients in a hospital, because its found on the hands of health-care workers and on most surfaces.

bottom line, if this is true, holly is fucked.

UmbrellaCorporation 04-23-2006 08:43 PM

Yeah, heh, I'm with Bricktop. It IS a real bitch to get rid of, and truth be told, it's probably far more fatal in immunosuppressed people than a 10% rate.

I'm not a Holly fan, especially after the crap he's done, but that's too harsh. Hope he gets well and back to square one soon (albeit without all the attitude).

Yeah, I know. I was just trying to inject some humour.

Sadly, I've been informed that I'm a bit "dry."

sneaky, sneaky KK :D

I figured you off all people here would understand my science babble.

Hanso Amore 04-23-2006 08:56 PM

Ill go ahead and say it. Serves him right.

Bag things happen to people who don't deserve it everyday.

This guy is a jerk and has done things that should never be done.

If it wasnt for him, Matt Cappotelli would havce realized a dream and made it to the Main roster before he was diagnosed, but with injuries, didnt happen.

I hope Bobcore dies, then maybe all the rookie hazing shit will end.

He had it coming

Funky Fly 04-23-2006 10:03 PM

Shit, everybody knows I hate Bobcore with a passion, but I hope he gets better. MRSA is a real bitch.

Your posts make ME want to die from an infection.

Seriously, how can you be that terrible? So the guy's an asshole backstage. Does that mean he deserves to die (in a really horrible manner, for that matter)? So Cappotelli didn't get to the main roster due to injuries, but I can pretty much damn well guarantee you he (Holly) didn't put the tumor in his head.

Seriously, you're easily the most idiotic tool on the board right now.

I'm not sure Karma dictates death. Sure, he's been a dick, but Karma would be more fitting if he tried to go dead on Lashley and he got injured like he did vs Lesnar. Karma would be him bullying someone who takes him down.

Karma is not dying from a very serious, very fatal infection.

I probably hate Holly more than 97% of the board, but even this asshole does not deserve this shit.

Gertner 04-23-2006 10:49 PM

karma would be if holly killed somebody that he dies. last time i checked he hasn't killed n e one

redoneja 04-23-2006 10:54 PM

Yea, this cannot be attributed to karma. Unless he's carrying a shitload of karma over from his previous life.

Maybe he was Hitler?

Nark Order 04-23-2006 11:07 PM

I stated my karma comment assuming the he was indeed Hitler in his past life...

redoneja 04-23-2006 11:23 PM

Well.....then, yes its karma. :shifty:

.44 Magdalene 04-23-2006 11:37 PM

Hitler was pretty hardcore.

Skippord 04-23-2006 11:45 PM

"Hardcore" Bob Hitler

Shadow 04-24-2006 12:48 AM

While I do hate Bobcore with a passion.....I don't want him to die. I want him to be injured so badley he won't ever be in a wrestling ring ever again.
