Actually, John Cena fans just never can make a clear reason for their choice on a pro wrestling level. It's always "he's a great wrestler" (bunch of bullshit) and "he lives his character, he's real" (also bullshit for the most part).

Personally I've been enjoying him more lately. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I don't turn the TV off when he's on either.

Except on Monday. The main event was just too much for me to watch. Not Cena's fault, though. It was the fact that they put the Spirit Squad in the fucking main event.

I feel your pain. SS is pretty much the gayest thing I've seen in the last 5 years.

Lets be honest though, he's only entertaining because of the fans.I'll agree hes been more entertaining lately, but because of the fans mainly.Before everyone started booing him he wasn't putting any effort in and was just getting an easy ride to the top.I still hate him for getting that 'easy ride' without actually working for it.

Lets get this clear, NO Cena fan likes Cena because of his "wrestling ability". His fans say thats why they like him but in reality they are just little rich white kids trying to be cool by being the hardcore gangsta that is a chain-gang member.

Well, actually it probably does. They keep telling themselves he's a good wrestler and he becomes the yardstick for great wrestlers to them.

That's the crux of the matter, the fans are fanatic enough that they think if you are a "hater," which in Cena's case means thinking he's anything less than the Rock, Kurt Angle, Stone Cold and Jesus rolled into one neat package. They are generally already so predisposed to defensive that they tend to do one of two things:

Attack everyone who disagrees, or

Spew out mindless garbage.

Both are "only" speaking their minds, and neither are ever wrong, no matter how ill-founded.

I can see the appeal of Cena for a first time wrestling watcher. He's "in your face" (even though you can't see him) and he's funny in an extremely immature way.

Thing is, once you've watched for a while, seen a few of the other comedy character, it should hit you that Cena is basically a starter gimmick that got huge.

Sure, a gangster rapper (from this generation) is fairly orginal. However, his gimmick is like the Spirit Squad or Matt Striker. He's in a gimmick that should have been left in 2004.

You think Striker or the SS will get huge in their current gimmicks? Fuck no. It's their stepping stone in the big time. If they get over, they'll be given bigger and better gimmicks. Or at least have a drastically changed for the better gimmick.

Cena is in the same gimmick since what, 2002? Sure, it's changed, but they changed it completely incorrectly.

Can someone get over with the same basic starter (very gimmicky) gimmick? Sure, it's been proven. Taker is the biggest example I can think of. But there were enough turns in his character to keep it fresh.

You can only go so far with an immature rapper gimmick before it starts to go down. Obviously, Cena's limit was mid-2005 (and I'm being generous). He should have had a cross of his ruthless aggression gimmick and the rapping gimmick by that time.

Just keep making or breaking it and you will get better.

If I tuned in for the first time, I'd likely wonder what this whitebread guy was doing trying to play hardcore and looking like Will Smith bleached his ass. I can't see him as "in your face." Seriously.

However, when the guy himself wants to be in this lame-ass gimmick, and management lets him, I guess that's where we're stuck. I have an immense respect for Cena's ability, but if he doesn't want to use any of it...

was Arron Rift who runs the NoDq.com and the forums there...He sent me a message on myspace telling me that he did and turned it into a "We Hate John Cena" web page.....after doing he received tons of death threats from fans.....lol

I was mainly referring to the redneck-type of crowd who are "into" hip hop. And Eminem fans. And wiggers themselves. And the youngin's. That makes up a fair portion of the viewing audience unfortunately. Or at least did i the Attitude era.

That's the funny thing about it. Kids were huge into the WWE(F) during the Attitude era, which was clearly produced for adults. I should know, I started to watch the WWF right around WM 13, the unoffical start of the Attitude era. I was about 8 or 9. Now the kids aren't as into the WWE as in the 90s and it's being geared towards them more and more.

My grandmother asks me if I would have let my kids or my cousins watch back then. My answer was fuck no, proving what watching that did to me. :shifty: Seriously though, back then and even some shit now I wouldn't let anyone under 13 watch unsupervised.

As far as Cena's talent goes, I've never meant that he's a bad wrestler. He's a bad wrestler in this gimmick.

Unfortunately, reaching women and children doesn't exactly edear yourself to the largest base.

That's my point. They're always bragging about "we had the largest viewership of male 18-34 year olds last week, thank you", and yet you have pirates, grown men who eat worms and MALE (emphisised for the fact I could see the point of female) cheerleaders on TV.

Note that's the largest number of 18-34s on a dead night, and not much of an indicator.

Put it in perspective: How many 18-34 year old guys really stay home?

So it's not really a strong indicator of how the kids' stuff is over with adults and vicey versey. college and late high school were still their bread and butter, even in the previous era.

They've claimed it a few times on RAW while mentioning number one on Cable.

The whole point of my posts is that by using that as bragging rights is saying "hey, we produce for your demo, watch", but they clearly don't.

Of course I couldn't see them claiming "we won the 11-17 year old male demographic last week. Take that Spongebob!".

They've also claimed to be number one on cable on weeks where it wasn't true.

However, you're right, I forgot they've made the claim a couple times on Raw, which is a lot stronger an indication than Smackdown.

...It's also the show without pirates and boogeymen, and I don't think I've heard much about it since the Spirit Squad showed up.
