Someone seems to be back full time... (Slight Backlash spoiler)
From Observer:
--Jim Ross will be lead announcer for tonight's Backlash PPV, in the place of Joey Styles. The internal decision has been finalized for Ross to take over as lead announcer on Raw, either tomorrow, or within a few weeks. |
Ha everyone is going to cry now except for me, because I love JR.
Anyway Styles will call ECW so whatever. |
I suppose that makes sense if they're going to bring ECW back full-time.
But I loathe Jim Ross. Oh, well. All the people who hate the new "gimmicky" wrestlers like the Spirit Squad will be in luck, since JR will go out of his way to bury them in his play-by-play (the same way he's done for the last couple of generations of promising obnoxious heels). |
Styles should call ECW alone, like the old days.
Unless, of course, they can get Cyrus or Gertner. |
Eh, I don't really care. To me, no one will ever compare to Gorilla Monsoon.
|
I really don't care either way. JR may be horrible, but he can put guys over.

Tazz/Styles would make a lot of sense, and if they do tape on SmackDown! days he could still do SmackDown! (even though they would probably replace him). |
WHy fucking hire Styles after 5 years of not being an announcer, just to dump him? How the fuck does Coach still have a job?

Bring in Jesse Ventura, he's not doing anything nowadays.

Styles has had some work as an announcer. I know he worked for Court Bauer's MLW promotion in Florida a couple years ago. |

On the other hand, now he's got a scapegoat when the shitty gimmick tanks. |

What is Coachs talent
|
Ugh. Granted, this may have happened when/if ECW came back, Raw just became a lot more unbearable now IMO.

They dont need three commentators on Raw its pointless. Put Coach where he belongs back on heat or let him do coachs mailbag again. That was what his talent merited.

But I sincerely hope that JR doesn't go out of his way to bury them vocally like he did La Resistance. Dupree and Grenier (and later Conway/Grenier) could have been the saviors of the RAW tag division the way that MNM have helped buoy the SD division. But, since they were BAHGAWDUNAMERICANHEELS, JR rarely acknowledged their in-ring skills and instead talked about how everyone hated them and didn't respect them. So, shocker of shockers, fans took JR's cue that these guys must suck, and down down down the card they went. Lance Storm shared a similar fate when JR played along with the "boring" chants that Austin started. "Hey, if JR says the guy is boring, why should I care about him?" I'm not asking for him to act like the Spirit Squad are the best thing going on RAW (although I'd personally rank them just behind the Trish/Mickie angle), but if he could actually acknowledge the fact that they're talented performers, but he just doesn't like them, that's all I ask. None of this "How the hell can you like these guys, Coach?" garbage. |

He's making excuses. :) |
No, I'm not. Listen to the way JR talks about Triple H. You can tell that, even though he doesn't like the man's methods, he respects him as an athlete. Same way when Randy Orton was on RAW. JR didn't like him, but he praised him as a competitor. Or when Undertaker was a heel. Or the couple of times he's done interbrand stuff and talked about JBL.
And, yes, the announcer is supposed to put everyone over, face or heel. That's the mark of a good announcer. You can put someone over in terms of making them credible while still being "BAH GAWD WHAT A DESPICABLE ACT! DAMN HIM TO HELL!" But, from time to time, JR chooses not to and it pisses me off. Listen to Michael Cole call a JBL match. He doesn't make him out to be a terrible wrestler. He just thinks that the things he does are terrible. Or listen to Joey Styles calling a pre-face Rob Van Dam match in ECW. Or, hell, go back to the mid-'90s when JR was still a competent PBP man and listen to him call Owen Hart matches. |

La Resistance is a perfect example. He praised them on more than one occasion about how he many not like them but they're still great young talents. Can JR go a bit more into detail? Yeah, why not? But that doesn't mean that he's NOT putting them over, even the heels. He has never, to my knowledge, put someone down for how bad of a wrestler they are. After all, if he did, he would have been fired more than twice by now. |
JR wouldn't be fired. They won't get rid of him. Everyone loves JR.
But it's a perfect excuse if the Spirit Squad fails. |
Joey Styles should at least still do Heat. JR is going to be back for a few weeks, then people will be asking for his blood, again.

That'll be the only way he gets in there. |
IMO, SCSA has the potential to be the best color commentator or all-time.
Don't believe me? Listen to SCSA on color during the Invasion angle. |

FINALLY THE J.R. HAS COME BACK TO............RAW.IF YOU SMELL WHAT THE J.R. IS COOOOOOOOOOOKING.(SMELLS LIKE HIS CHICKEN IS BURNING?)
I for one am happy about that. |
like realy, What had Styles done that was so bad? I love him as lead announcer

They should bring in Stevie Ray. |

That's reason enough for WWE. |
I think Booker T and JBL would make good commentators, especially together.

I dunno. Coach isn't really the one to blame IMO. Though he is part of the pissing contest going on. But King seems to jump on anything that might be a mistake, whereas Copach is just talking over him a la King.
|
Whenever I'm listening to RAW (during 24 commercial breaks) Coach is always jumping on Joey's lines and trying to cut him down. Coach just needs to get over the fact that he sucks at announcing
|
Coach needs to be beheaded by a returning Muhammed Hassan.
And none of that garotting Bullshit. |
