So does anyone else find it odd that RVD won the IC title, will be fighting for the Heavyweight Title in June, meanwhile, JBL is the US champ, and is fighting for the World Title in May?

Sure, it could be coincidence due to Smackdown's dwindling main event scene. I'm just curious to see if they make anything out of it.

Also, is anyone else thinking RVD may keep the IC title and win the Heavyweight, and not only turn the HEavyweight into the ECW title, but the IC title into the TV title? Hmm?

If you look at the Title Histories of the World and WWE Titles you will see they remarkably mirror one another...so while I did notice it, I didn't find it odd.

Oh and I wouldn't hold your breath about the turning the title into the ECW Title, I think that's just a matter of wishful thinking.

I think RVD will go over, however I don't think Vince is going to allow them to take the WWE Championship and turn it into another belt...

I can see it going down one of 4 ways

RVD wins, changes the belt, Raw gets a new one (tourny or something)

RVD wins, is stripped of the belt, then creates his own ECW belt.

RVD wins, changes the belt, and then they play it off on Raw as the win not being recognized, and that Cena is still the champ

RVD wins, drops belt shortly thereafter.

Any of the first 3 scenarios, in my mind, work well.

I see it as RVD will win, continue to wrestle on RAW with the WWE Title, and have little to nothing to do with new pre-failed ECW Brand.

Well, they did say that the writing team worked on that. They've got the storyline written, now all they have to do is play the game and work it though.

Yeah, but if RVD won the WWE Title and threw it in the garbage, it wouldn't actually be changing the title. That would mean that the WWE Title would be held up, and maybe they could have a tournament do crown a new champ. It would be a great way to put over RVD as the leader of the new ECW. The Money In The Bank contract was made out to be such a prestigious opportunity, for him to just throw their belts (IC and WWE) in the garbage, it would be the ultimate act of defiance. Until ECW gets a TV deal, they could just start an ECW faction on RAW & SmackDown, headed up by RVD.

And Vince McMahon is just dying to throw his own titles in the trash to put over another promotion.:roll:

Not trying to bash you or anything, but did you watch the Rise and Fall of ECW? At one point, Vince discusses having WWF Champion HHH beat ECW champion Tazz on an episode of smackdown and says that event hurt the credibility of ECW. He also said if he could go back and do it differently, he certainly would have..

Now the question becomes does he intend to go back and try to fix that mistake?

And furthermore, it's not "another" promotion, it's his own creation, so why not?

I have watched Rise & Fall, I also saw the SmackDown match between Tazz/Hunter, and I know McMahon says a lot fo things, but if there is one thing Vincent Kennedy McMahon has proven over time, he will murder, rape, and die to continue with WWE as the undisputed leader of Sports Entertainment. He will not put ECW over WWE. He fucked over the biggest storyline in wrestling history with the Invasion, he certainly isn't going to allow ECW to outshine WWE.

Your just proving my point. Vince has nothing to do with ECW. He has taken ECW World Champ after World Champ, stuck them in pointless Hardcore Matches or buried them all together. He has had ECW legends come in and get huge ovations fro the crowd, only to have them put over his boys. Is it unfair? No. He has the money and he can put whoever he wants over...

Vince loves his WWE, and the last thing he would ever do is make another promotion, even if he owns it, seem more legit then WWE.

I don't disagree with Vince wanting his guys to look good. To me, the difference is that WCW was a direct competitor to WWE, as opposed to ECW which was never really a direct threat. If Vince is gonna treat the new ECW like its his baby, which its not, why would he treat it differently than his own?

On Rise and Fall, Vince speaks warmly of the product and admits a mistake was made. I've never said that Vince would do it, in fact, if I had to guess right now, I'd say no, like you have. But the fact that he admits a mistake was made and would have done it diffferently makes you wonder if he's now going to fix it. Having RVD trash the WWE title would be the correction.

Having RVD trash the title doesn't necessarily put over ECW. In fact, you could probably book it in a way that Vince sees RVD trash his title after a hard fought victory over Cena/JBL etc, get pissed and basically have it out for RVD. The only thing you'd have to do is have a tournament or put the belt on a credible person and you know they'd just throw the title on HHH anyway.

That ECW title theory WOULD be a nice way to get that fucking spinner off.

Vince buried people just because they came from ECW/WCW. He's not going to put over the promotion if it in any way makes it look bad on his end.

I didn't say that I thought it would happen, just that it would be a perfect scenario.

Maybe hell have RVD beat JBL so he can have the WHC buried rather than risk the WWE title. It dont mean anything to him that the old WCW title gets destroyed and this way he can put JBL in a hardcore match with RVD knowing JBL can fight a hardcore match a damn site better than Cena.
Smackdown can get its stupid Smackdown title it was going to get. Vince would never tear into Raw for a promotion but an experiment like this would be carried out on the B show without thought
