OH MY GOD! (RAW Spoilers)

I fucking love Joey Styles. Everything that we've read about and heard since he came to WWE, he said. Heeling on the fans at the end just capped it all off.

The road to ECW has begun.

McLegend 05-01-2006 11:18 PM

I couldn't believe what I was watching. Great promo by Joey.

But now this raises the question. Has everything that has been said about Joey Styles by the WWE been a work, or did they just come with this storyline in the last few weeks? Also where is Coach?

I'm sure no one expect for me cares about the latter question

Blitz 05-01-2006 11:21 PM

Rewatching the promo now.

SuperSlim 05-01-2006 11:22 PM

It was indeed interesting tonight... and Joey's segment was one of the best Raw segments in a long time.

All that is left to be seen is a showing of Heyman. That and a little more edge from RVD to further the eventual ECW.

But is it possible that the team actually thought that far ahead about something? That's insane.

It was probably a work shoot, kinda like Heyman and RVD at ONS last year. He tells Vince what he's gonna say, then says it.

And dude, fuck Coach

RawRocks 05-01-2006 11:23 PM

could we see a DX reunion vs ECW reunion?

SecretDesire 05-01-2006 11:24 PM

I think this will be a smooth transition for JR to return. On a serious note, Joey is right. I dont wanna hear a bunch of stories all the time. Its like they all wanna be sports entertainers but still wanna stake claim to being a wreslter in the HOF one day. Fact is half the roster cant "really" wrestle. I wish the glory days of the WWF would return!

loopydate 05-01-2006 11:25 PM

Coach got taken out by Vis last week. That's why he wasn't there tonight.

Great promo by Joey tonight. I was worried about how they were going to start the wheels in motion for the ECW revival, but those thoughts were partially assuaged tonight. Joey really is a phenomenal mic worker, and I'm glad that he finally got a shot to completely let loose.

That promo was like a smark's wet dream.

Well the promo was obviously planned, but I mean this whole thing with Joey. Like him always getting in trouble for his announcing, and Vince always correcting him. I just wonder if this ECW angle has been planned that far a head.

And dude, Fuck you

redoneja 05-01-2006 11:25 PM

Damn, Wikipedia is already updated to include results from the May 1st edition of Raw.

Blitz 05-01-2006 11:26 PM

Yeah, it's still hotter than the sun the second time around

"I'm not good enough to call BACKLASH?!?!"

Outsider 05-01-2006 11:27 PM

Is there any way I'd be able to see this promo?

Wow I completly blocked that from my memory.

RawRocks 05-01-2006 11:28 PM

He forgot to mention Saturday Nights Main event

Kane Knight 05-02-2006 12:03 AM

God Damn, that may have been the hottest thing on Raw since...Fuck...It's been ages.

Yeah same.

RGWhat316 05-02-2006 12:09 AM

That was definitely the RAW moment of the year. Whether this was a shoot or work, it doesn't matter to me. Joey said what he needed to say, and they are kicking off the road to ECW in a big way.

Blitz 05-02-2006 12:12 AM

I'm really trying not to get too excited with the ECW revival.

But after that promo, it's getting a lot tougher.

The Fugitive 05-02-2006 02:07 AM

Outsider, the promo is now up on WWE.com

Everytime something awesome might happen in the WWE. Someone posts something like this.

weather vane 05-02-2006 02:24 AM

lol yeah I know

Lara Emily 05-02-2006 02:41 AM

Wow, tonight was the first night in about 6 or 7 months that I saw any of Raw and it was to see this, glad I did amazing promo.

St. Jimmy 05-02-2006 04:47 AM

I marked out. Hardcore.

darkpower 05-02-2006 05:22 AM

The only things I didn't like about that:
  • This basically means we have to mute the TVs again...more of JR calling things. Or maybe they could drag it out a bit. I would personally, since King filled in for Tazz on SmackDown some time ago one night, have Michael Cole call RAW for a night (seems like King and Cole had, at least, SOME chemestry during them calling the Rumble match), and use that to spark some more stuff (could work a ECW vs. RAW vs. SmackDown thing), since Cole could talk some smack about RAW during the show and just ignite the RAW vs. SD thing further.
  • Speaking of the King, that was another thing I didn't like. Just what role did the King play in that, heel or face. I was VERY confused as to whose side he was on tonight on alot of things. And it seemed like he suddenly switched sides during the commercial to be liking what the SS did to Joey just for that series of segments, and then when it was over...he went BACK to badmouthing them again. This would've been ten times more sensible had the Coach been the one to do this, since we KNOW what side HE was on (like it or not, he should've been in the seat instead of King tonight for this, having King do that is SO out of place seeing as he's a kind of tweener-face now).

Londoner 05-02-2006 06:10 AM

I wish i would've stayed up for the rest of raw now, something was telling me to, but the spirit squad match after the womens tag match just made me want to turn off.Well, it was half 2 in the morning so i guess that also helped me make my decision.

Extreme Angle 05-02-2006 07:28 AM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPWv_...=joey%20styles
not perfect but you can hear it fine

Savio 05-02-2006 07:33 AM

You know that segment was unscripted, It wasn't sussposed to be in the show.

Cuzziebro 05-02-2006 08:47 AM

I agree with everyone darkpower just said. Coach is an awesome heel, King is jucontridicting sometimes, and JR is a homo.

Pinnacle Charisma 05-02-2006 09:24 AM

Yeah fucking awesome promo. Just watched it then since we dont raw untill tommorow.

The best thing about it is he said alot of things I have been thinking about the wwe product.

I would have marked out like a little bitch if Joey included a crack about having a white rapper that cant wrestle in the part where he said he was sick about male cheerleaders and Vince's recent antics

Kane Knight 05-02-2006 11:55 AM

How bad is it the only thing about the Spirit Squad that made me get a reaction was Styles shooting on a shitty product?

RGWhat316 05-02-2006 12:56 PM

I tape RAW almost every week waiting for something really good to happen. And I was glad that I taped last night.

Extreme Angle 05-02-2006 02:45 PM

and this happened the night that i put the tape in for raw and my dad changed channel for "never mind the buzzcocks" :'(

Innovator 05-02-2006 03:02 PM

The promo may have been a work shoot, but the Joey Styles smirk was real

Team Sheep 05-02-2006 03:44 PM

Just finished watching Raw that I taped last night, man that was awesome. Powerful words by Joey. It's gonna be an exciting Spring/Summer :D ...hopefully.

I just pray that they don't immediately bury ECW like they've done with every other instance in which they started to really get behind someone/thing.

Because this could be awesome...

...As long as WWE doesn't do something stupid like try to improve it.

Arnold HamNegger 05-02-2006 04:09 PM

I had to call in sick to work today because my manrection would not die. This has more potential than a blind hooker on extacy.

McLegend 05-02-2006 09:22 PM

After watching Joey Styles's promo for like 6 time in less then 24 hours I have seen that Joey has shown us whats wrong with wrestling today.

No it's not the writers coming up with crap angles, or even Vince burying WCW and in the process buried ton's of potential future stars. Whats wrong with wrestling today is....

No emotion.

Wrestlers don't believe in what they do they merely trying to act as where you see Styles last night sure it was a planned promo, but man there was so much emotion. You feel as if Styles truely believed in what he was saying. As where most of the wrestlers today you don't believe in anything they are saying.

People say fire the writers fuck man I say get your wrestlers in acting classes

Kane Knight 05-02-2006 09:28 PM

Nobody has to.

JR hasn't sounded legit in years. But they're bringing him back.

King's only emotion is when a chick with fake tits is on TV.

Coach's only emotion is...

...LINE!

Wrestlers, similarly, have tenure. You pay your dues, you endear yourself or you get fired. Why bust your ass, when bein better than Rey Mysterio doesn't even get you off Heat? Even better, when you're scripted with bullshit lines and story arcs that make porn stars cringe.

You say your lines, you rape someone in the ass, you go home to your wife and steroid habit.

Posted by Aaron Rift on 05/02/2006 at 07:37 PM

Much of the WWE lockerroom was shocked with the content of Joey Styles' promo on RAW, reports PWInsider.com.

While the bulk of the content, albeit with a different tone, has been addressed on WWE.com in past interviews with Styles, there was still a feeling of great surprise that the McMahons would allow Styles to deliver such a biting criticism of the WWE product.

The promo's clearance has created optimism that WWE is committed to restoring the "true" ECW this summer.

Joey Styles penned the entire promo he delivered on last night's show. The former "voice of ECW" submitted the script to the creative team and received approval. WWE management was reportedly happy with how it turned out.
