Corkscrewed 05-04-2006 04:25 PM

CM Punk swerves Cena/RVD and wins the WWE championship.

Innovator accidentally shoots himself in the crotch after shooting lots of stuff out of his crotch.

Rob 05-04-2006 04:33 PM

I hate CM Punk.

weather vane 05-04-2006 04:36 PM

I like Punk but he isn't the god that everyone makes him out to be.

weather vane 05-04-2006 04:37 PM

where is this from anyways?

KingofOldSchool 05-04-2006 04:38 PM

Torch

Gertner 05-04-2006 04:39 PM

I think Punk is over-rated as well.

BTW nobody EVER metnions Hot Commodity

They fucking ruled at the end of ECW
-Elektra
- EZ Money
- Julio Diniro
- Confederate Currency Chris Hammerick

I'd love to see them back

weather vane 05-04-2006 04:40 PM

Hot Commodity was pretty deadly. I used to love EZ Money.

The Fugitive 05-04-2006 05:00 PM

I find it curious that Bob Artese isn't on that list. Is he working for another promotion or what's going on there?

St. Jimmy 05-04-2006 05:26 PM

=/ No Steve Corino?

Rob 05-04-2006 05:29 PM

Corino doesn't want to do anything with ECW now.

Blitz 05-04-2006 06:17 PM

Nice list.

And yes, Hot commodity were the goods.

If they could somehow get Simon Diamond away from TNA and put him with Swinger, that would be awesome.

Blitz 05-04-2006 06:18 PM

Also, return of the FBI

Bad Company 05-04-2006 07:14 PM

They NEED Mike Awesome.

redoneja 05-04-2006 07:18 PM

I like Punk and I think he would fit in nicely with the new ECW, esp as the straightedge heel. I'm not quite on the same level of Punk-markdom as Inno, but I guess it's better than worshiping the Bashams(sorry Alienoid).

Hopefully the FBI won't be the comedy-act FBI, but instead have a more shooter based gimmick.

ClockShot 05-04-2006 07:53 PM

Nice list. Good to see Francine back. Wouldn't mind seeing Dawn Marie back also. And maybe for old time's sake Kimona Wanalaya. The only question I have here is: "What about Raven?"

Even if WWE wanted him (which I don't think they do) and Raven wanted to go (which I know he doesn't) he can't. TNA has him in contract up to and including 2008.

Juan 05-04-2006 08:14 PM

I'm sure that if this ECW resurrection is successful, all these old ECW guys that say they don't want anything to do with it, are gonna want in.

Dorkchop 05-04-2006 08:26 PM

Glad to see Yoshihiro Tajiri on that list.

The One 05-04-2006 08:30 PM

Just like they all wanted to be a part of One Night Stand last year???

McLegend 05-04-2006 08:39 PM

That was only one night though. This is actually going to be a promotion.

So I think if it is successful for a long period of time I'm sure some of those people would come back.

The One 05-04-2006 08:42 PM

Some people are genuinly pissed off at McMahon and wouldn't accept a check from him in any way shape or form. Not shockingly, a lot of those people are former ECW wrestlers.

McLegend 05-04-2006 08:43 PM

Yeah but money talks

The One 05-04-2006 08:43 PM

Though, I admit, Raven, if given the right contract would probably have no problem calling McMahon boss again...weather or not he and Paul could peacefully co-exsist again is another factor to consider.

Bad Company 05-04-2006 09:14 PM

What do you think of the fact that they need mike awesome, The One.

The One 05-04-2006 09:27 PM

I think Mike Awesome is one of the world's best brawlers. He has the skills to wrestle a solid entertaining match, and has the mentality to incorperate a truly hardcore and extreme style within those matches. He isn't a traditional American Style wrestler, which explains his lack of success in both WCW as well as WWE, however if Paul Heyman is truly going to be the brains behind this version of ECW, it would not only benefit Mike Awesome to get on board (which I believe he would in a heartbeat) but the benefit to ECW would be huge. On one hand you have the fact he signed a deal with WCW, the devil in the minds of many ECW die-hard fans, which gives him instant legit heat. Then you add in the fact that Mike Awesome is an incredible performer and someone who could be a serious Main Eventer. In the end, I don't think the success of ECW rests on signing him or not signing him, but Awesome would make an incredible addition to the roster and would help ECW get over in a big way.

HeartBreakMan2k 05-04-2006 10:34 PM

As long as Vince's only input if from a funding stand point, and Paul E. and Dreamer have creative freedom (which they should if it's going to air at 2 fuckin AM) I'll be happy. Especially if they bring up most the OVW guys.

Skippord 05-04-2006 11:09 PM

MARKS THE FUCK OUT

loopydate 05-04-2006 11:18 PM

I just said a couple of days ago that Punk would make an excellent addition to ECW. This is good news, indeed.

I'd also recommend calling up Deuce Shade & Domino. Deuce's father (Jimmy Snuka) was the first ECW Champion, so there's history on his side. Plus, ECW was always a good showcase for tag wrestling. Deuce could be the new top cocky heel ("only second-generation ECW star" etc.), with Domino as his sidekick. The Swinger to his Simon Diamond, if you will.

And I totally agree with The One about Mike Awesome. His stint with ECW ended on bad terms, but the fact that both sides were willing to set aside differences for last year's ONS seems like a good sign that a full-blown reconciliation is possible. I'm positively salivating over the possibility of Mike Awesome vs. a healthy Bam Bam Bigelow. I don't know that Bam Bam will ever be in ring shape again, but that match would be phenomenal.

Gertner 05-04-2006 11:24 PM

lol re form Simon's enterage" mitch, the musketeer, Swinger etc...

Blitz 05-04-2006 11:26 PM

Rep for Gertner.

loopydate 05-04-2006 11:32 PM

I have no idea what the Prodigy & Prodigette are up to anymore.

Also, they should re-form Da Baldies. If they're moving Guido to ECW, then they can move Vito over, too. And if Jazz is coming over, they could re-sign Rodney "Redd Dogg" Mack, who was a member. Then, bring back Spanish Angel (whatever happened to him?), and you've got a pretty good lower-midcard heel stable.

HeartBreakMan2k 05-04-2006 11:33 PM

I want Cyrus :(

The Naitch 05-04-2006 11:36 PM

fuck CM Punk, he is totally overrated, but I will agree with the hype once I see footage of Innovator sucking on his cock, youtube.com_style

Gertner 05-04-2006 11:43 PM

lol simon's stable was FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!

But yeah Hott Commodity should definitley be brought back. I've seen Hammerick wrestle on velocity/heat a few times. EZ wrestled with WCW at the end of it's run, and DiNiro's been on tna. lol Elektra is probably still getting paid $50 to be in porn. god she was hideous

Mr. Nerfect 05-05-2006 12:00 AM

If the new ECW is going to be successful, it needs to run off new talent as well as ECW alumni. Not just OVW talent, but established WWE talent as well. Here are some of the guys I see defecting from WWE to ECW (that never competed in ECW):

Randy Orton
Here me out. In OVW, the only title Randy Orton won was the OVW Hardcore Championship. In the WWE, he has put on some fantastic hardcore-style matches. Namely his Street Fight with Cactus Jack for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Backlash 2004. With his suspension and rumours of him being released, having him go to ECW would lend it a young talent with name power.

Chavo Guerrero
I have no clue where they are going with the Chavo quitting angle, so why not just have him join ECW? Have Chavo say he and Eddie were in WCW together, they were in WWE together, but they were never in ECW together. Have Chavo say he is going to try and discover what made Eddie Guerrero the Hall of Famer that he is in ECW.

With Nick Dinsmore replacing Dean Malenko, and Chavo Guerrer replaing Eddie Guerrero (in terms of roles in ECW's scheme of things), I am tempted to say Doug Basham or Rob Conway replace Chris Benoit, but I won't. ;)

Nick Dinsmore
The WWE blew the chance to bring Eugene back as Nick, so the best way to ge it done now is for Eugene to quit, ala Joey Styles, show up on ECW TV and shoot on the WWE for making him play a retard.

Nick Dinsmore would provide ECW with the technical greatness, something ECW always had meshed into its extreme image.

Matt Hardy
Maybe it was the fact that Paul Heyman was shooting last year, but Matt Hardy seemed accepted by the crowd at One Night Stand when Heyman mentioned his name. Bringing Hardy in wouldn't do damage to the WWE, because let's face it, Hardy isn't doing anything at the moment.

Johnny Nitro & Melina
He's a tag team partner to Joey Mercury, who competed in ECW. Nitro is pretty talented, and he seems to fit the fast-paced nature of the show. Having Nitro and Mercury bring the WWE Tag Team Championship over from SmackDown!, and adding the title's history to the revived ECW Tag Team Championship (which became defunct in 2001, the WWE Tag Team Championship were created in 2002, you can make a linear history out of it all) would get them over as an ECW tag team. Bringing Melina over gives ECW a hot chick, something ECW always had.

Brent Albright
He works very similarly to Chris Benoit. The two can have a mentor/student thing going, and Albright can also work a program with CM Punk. Gnner Scott is also a stupid name. BA would get his old name back in ECW, plus he can replace Chris Benoit in the "Television Division Technical Triangle" (I never watched ECW, so I just made that phrase up, it is not likely to accurately reflect these mens' stints in ECW) Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero had in ECW. You now have Brent Albright, Nick Dinsmore and Chavo Guerrero.

Some people might go "They never competed in ECW~! Blasphemy!" but when guys left the WWE and WCW, they often went to ECW, and vice versa. Having WWE guys leave the big shows and move into a nice, cosy ECW environment would help it out immensly, in my opinion.

I also think they should end the roster split after this. Think about it. They're pushing this whole thing as WWE vs. ECW, and with guys like Rob Van Dam and (hopefully) Chris Benoit ducking out of RAW and SmackDown!, there is going to be more room for main eventers on both shows. Unifying the brands would solve a lot of the problems the WWE is having. Dumping some of ECW's former talent, and stars who can fit ECW well, would really make things hunky-dory in WWE-land.

As far as commentary for the show goes, I would have Al Snow so colour commentary with Joey Styles. A lot of people want Styles to go solo, but I don't think that will happen. Snow does colour in OVW currently, so it adds to that "EVW" feeling that would probably be in the air. Joel Gertner and Mick Foley dropping in occasionally wouldn't be bad for business either, nor would Paul Heyman or Tazz. I'd leave Heyman off-screen for most of it, as well as keeping Tazz on SmackDown!. A one night thing wouldn't be too bad, though.

The referees will likely be former ECW refs, OVW refs and independant refs. Shouldn't be too hard to figure the ref scheme out.

As far as OVW talent in ECW goes, I think there should be more than just CM Punk. Elijah Burke for one. He's probably not on the WWE's good side for refusing to be in The Spirit Squad. I think Paul Heyman could give him a good home.

Beth Phoenix is Brent Albright's cousin, and is an amazing female wrestler. With Jazz coming back to ECW and Trinity in OVW, you have a nice women's division in the works. Have Lita return (after turning on Edge in the WWE vs. ECW war) and she can add to it. You also have Melina. Mickie James, Trish Stratus, Victoria, Jillian Hall and Shelly keep the women's divsion alive on WWE TV. That's five women wrestlers a piece.

Also in OVW, you have Kasey James. Apparently he makes a serviceable team with Roadkill. I had no clue Danny Doring was on the way in, so I was going to suggest a continuation of the Roadkill/Kasey James tag team. Maybe a stable? Maybe with Roadkill & Doring being the last ECW Tag Team Champions, and Roadkill & James being the last OVW Southern Tag Team Champions, 'Kill has to choose a tag team partner to face MNM in a "unification match", only for the other partner to get pisses and start a feud with Roadkill & Partner. You have Johnny Swinger without a Simon Diamond. Roadkill/James vs. Doring/Swinger?

I was going to suggest that the WWE calls up The Untouchables (Deuce Shade and Dice Domino), but people seem to think they would fit ECW. They have Cherry as a valet, so that's another chick you can add to ECW's roster. I say do it.

Seth Skyfire is also a pretty talented guy in OVW who would fit ECW. It depends on how the WWE Cruiserweight Division looks after it has lost Super Crazy, Psicosis, Kid Kash and Nunzio. He might be a better fit to WWE. He has also teamed with Chet the Jet, so having them team in either ECW or WWE wouldn't be a bad thing. I'm going to say have them go to WWE, though.

loopydate 05-05-2006 12:06 AM

Oh, good call. I forgot about Skyfire. He'd work the "ECW style" very well.

KingofOldSchool 05-05-2006 12:24 AM

As first reported by WWE’s new mobile alert system, ECW has signed the following:

Sabu
Jazz
Axl Rotten
Balls Mahoney
C.W. Anderson

Mr. Nerfect 05-05-2006 12:26 AM

Just another note, didn't Vito compete in ECW? Having him serve as back-up to Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke wouldn't be such a bad idea. Yes, I am aware Big Vito wasn't in The FBI, but he would fit.

So here's how I would design the ECW roster:

Commentators: Joey Styles & Al Snow

ECW World Heavyweight Champion: Rob Van Dam
(This belt would have the history of the original ECW Championship, as well as the history of the World Heavyweight Championship created by the WWE in 2002; this belt would also be unified with the OVW Heavyweight Championship currently held by CM Punk)

ECW Television Champion: Whoever is OVW Television Champion
(This belt would have the history of the original ECW Television Championship, as well as the OVW Television Championship created in 2004)

ECW Tag Team Champions: MNM
(These belts would have the history of the original ECW Tag Team Championship, as well as the history of the WWE Tag Team Championship created in 2002; these titles would also be unified with the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship, currently held by Roadkill & Kasey James, I think)

ECW Women's Champion: Jazz
(New title)

ECW World Heavyweight Division:
1. Rob Van Dam
2. The Sandman
3. Sabu
4. Tommy Dreamer
5. Chris Benoit
6. Rey Mysterio (maybe)
7. Randy Orton
8. CW Anderson
9. Matt Hardy
10. Mike Awesome (providing they hire him)
11. Rhino (providing they hire him)
12. Justin Credible (providing they hire him, but he'd go tag team when Lance Storm is around)

ECW Television Divsion:
1. CM Punk
2. Brent Albright
3. Chavo Guerrero
4. Nick Dinsmore
5. Super Crazy
6. Psicosis
7. Kid Kash
8. Big Vito
9. Seth Skyfire (maybe)

ECW Tag Team Division:
1. MNM (Joey Mercury & Johnny Nitro)
2. Roadkill & Kasey James
3. Danny Doring & Elijah Burke
4. Simon Diamond & Johnny Swinger (providing they can hire Simon Diamond)
5. bWo (Stevie Richards & Nova)
6. FBI (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke)
7. Balls Mahoney & Axl Rotten
8. The Eliminators (providing they hire them)

ECW Women's Divsion:
1. Jazz
2. Beth Phoenix
3. Trinity
4. Lita
5. Melina
6. Francine (I'm not sure if she can wrestle or not)
7. Cherry (not sure if she can wrestle)
8. Dawn Marie (providing they hire her)

Part-Timers:
1. Mick Foley
2. Terry Funk
3. Lance Storm
4. Masato Tanaka
5. Yoshihiro Tajiri
6. Mikey Whipwreck
