lol CM Punk sucks Innovator's wang

fuck CM Punk, he is totally overrated, but I will agree with the hype once I see footage of Innovator sucking on his cock, youtube.com_style

The Naitch 05-04-2006 11:38 PM

im done for the night, I'll see the flames in the morning

McLegend 05-04-2006 11:40 PM

It's the other way around.

Innovator sucks CM Punk's wang. As do the whole internet. I have personally never seen him so I cannot say anything good or bad about him.

Bad Company 05-04-2006 11:42 PM

I still havent seen a CM Punk match.

Thus making him overrated

UmbrellaCorporation 05-04-2006 11:47 PM

CM Punk is pretty overrated. Scratch that. Extremely overrated.

Innovator 05-05-2006 12:31 AM

well if Punk sucks on my wang, through the substitution method Maria would be giving sucking

Mr. Nerfect 05-05-2006 12:39 AM

I don't think CM Punk is overrated. The guy isn't the best to ever step foot in a ring, but trust me, the guy has "it". He's a solid wrestler, he can do some crazy shit, work the technical style, cut EXCELLENT promos and he has charisma comparable to anyone in the WWE. Punk is also in touch with current pop-culture. Whether your into the whole emo/straight-edge stuff or not, it is the way we're going.

CM Punk would actually be doing better in the main event picture than John Cena right now, if you ask me, simply because his "modern" gimmick is kind of relevent. He also lives the character he plays.

I haven't seen too much from Punk, but I think overrated is a term thrown around too easily these days. People hear a lot of good things about CM Punk, so they say he's overrated. Overrated usually refers to the lack of justification of those things. If you feel about CM Punk that way, that's your opinion, but I do think the CM Punk love is justified.

Punk is good. Punk is not God.

Mr. Monday Morning 05-05-2006 12:41 PM

Curious as to how many of the people who say he is overrated have seen any significant amount of his work.

Kane Knight 05-05-2006 01:07 PM

Though I've downloaded/watched quite a bit of material online, I can say safely that nobody could live up to the hype CM punk gets, So I'm saying actually watching him in-ring is really unnecessary.

I've seen a bit. He is a good talent. But good is about it. There is nothing "money" about him yet. Plus you should be good when you are working with the same guys every week. This was my arguement years ago when people said world class workers like Misawa and Kobashi were better than Michaels and Hart. When Misawa gets a great match out of Sid Vicious or Kevin Nash then I'd talk. WWE isn't exactly over loaded with talent right now. He deserves a spot on the roster but he isn't any better than a Shelton Benjamin or the like. Lance Storm is a far better worker and he didn't get the internet hype CM Punk gets.

Mr. Monday Morning 05-05-2006 01:51 PM

IMO Misawa is overrated, I've watched some of his older matches recently and I've found myself being bored of him. Now Kobashi (and Kawada come to think of it) is a different story. But that's another thread.

Storm is probably a better worker but I don't think there's anyone who could argue he is a better talker/personality than Punk. To be honest I kind of think that's where the hype comes from, it's pretty rare on the indies for a guy to be able to work decently *and* cut high-level promos.

I don't remember exactly but I think he's only been working about 5-6 years, and it's pretty rare for anyone to be great at that stage of their career. In a couple years though, I do honestly think he'll be able to legitimately cut it as a main-eventer anywhere in the world.

That still doesn't justify the hype he gets.

Everyone who says Punk is overrated are just jealous because he is better than them.

The One 05-05-2006 05:20 PM

Punk is overrated. He is a fantastic talent, and one day given the right chance, he could be a huge star...but he will never be an icon or a legend. He will never come close to reaching some form of immortal stature in the industry. But like I said, I like him, think he's great...just not as great as some make him out to be.

Being that I've never been in a ring, if he isn't better than me then I must be the next Kurt Angle or Owen Hart.

CM Punk isn't overrated in my opinion. Here's 2 matches to show how good he can be:

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Eddie Guerrero

CM Punk vs. Brent Albright

I understand where you're coming from, and I think you worded what you said very well, but "never" is a bit of a strong word isnt it? Did anyone really think Steve Austin would be huge? Or Flex Cavana?

Just playing devil's advocate.

Maybe I just think of the term differently, but when I think "overrated", I think of someone who is placed higher in opinion for unjust reasons. The words I see often associated with Punk are "potential" and "could be". I think a lot of people hear so much about Punk, they call him overrated, which I don't think is right since it should be the quality associated with him, not the quantity of people who have an idea of who he is. If the amount of attention a man receives if how we rate them, it would require us all share the same mind. I don't want to think like Vermaat (I love that guy, but he's easy for a joke).

Or you may think Punk sucks, which if fine and that's your opinion.

I personally think Bret Hart is more overrated than CM Punk. People make Bret Hart out to be a God, but as someone who missed Bret Hart's career, I just can't look back and see him at that level of performing.

In short, I really dislike the overrated/underrated scenarios, and I would prefer it if people measured a guy by his talents, not what shows up on a survey of said talents.

Now granted I'm the biggest Bret Hart mark ever but this statement is hilarious. Whether you thought he was the best ever is up for arguement but NOBODY could argue he was one of the best. He'd make at least 95% of fans top 10 all time lists. He had a career that lasted over 20 years, had absolutely classic matches. Not good. CLASSICS. Matches that went down in time. He absolutely never had a bad night (and I say the same about Shawn Michaels). He worked with everyone and gave guys who had no right even being in this business the best matches of their careers.

CM Punk has been in the biz like 5 years, worked a few big indy shows and people are talking about him like he is the most misused talent in the buisiness today. Chris Jericho won't go down as an all time great and he would mop the floor with Punk on any level. He has done absolutely nothing to a big enough audience of fans to warrant this reaction. Nobody is doubting his in ring abilities today. It's the hype that surrounds it. And better talent in the business over the years didn't get a break. You ask anyone who worked with or saw Robbie Brookside work and ask if he got a fair deal. El Dandy and Silver King are even better examples. They were awesome talents, got to the big time and were made to look worse than the worse jobbers of my childhood. In my opinion, Punk wasn't even in the top 5 best indy wrestlers when WWE signed him.

No doubt. I certainly think anyone that says CM Punk is the most misused talent in the history of the business is definately overrating him, but saying he is good is a fair statement to make.

When I said Bret Hart was overrated, I didn't mean it in comparison to CM Punk, I was just arguing the meaning of the term "overrated". Bret Hart has contributed so much to this business, I would slap a term of "Icon" onto his name. Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart...all Icons in my opinion.

I just think Bret Hart gets too much credit for his ability, whilst CM Punk gets too little (in a lot of cases). Sure you have some fanatics that go all out for Punk, but you also have fanatics that go all out for Doug Basham. :shifty:

My point was hyperbole, but basically what I'm trying to say, is that CM Punk, in my own personal opinion, isn't overrated. He is not a future legend (at this stage), and he's not even a future World Champion (at this stage), but the praise he receives is justified.

I won't claim those aren't good matches, but they don't much live up to Punk's hype. And that's the point. He's hugely overrated, and those matches were solid, but not the phenomenon he's been hyped as.

Sorry, I didn't wasn't saying that you were comparing Bret Hart to CM Punk. If I thought you were, I would have probably fell over and died laughing.

Remember though, Bret Hart is a legend. Most fans grew up watching him, he had classic matches and they stood time. That's why people rave about him. Punk, in my opinion, gets too much credit for achieving so little. It's like the saying "if a tree falls in the woods, does it make a noise?". Well Punk has been involved in good matches but if nobody ever sees them, do they even count?

Innovator 05-07-2006 01:16 PM

I'm probably the biggest Punk fan on the boards, but please don't bring his name up with Bret, Austin, or any established Icon.

The guy is awesome on the mic and great in the ring, charismatic as fuck, and will be great in ECW with Heyman booking him.

Rob is pretty much right with people not seeing his matches. Hell most people here who bash him probably haven't seen enough of his work. And Naitch, Punk hasn't used straight edge as part of his gimmick since early 2004.
