Edge/Foley match tonight on RAW. *Possible spoilers ahead*

With the Edge/Foley hardcore rematch being the main event for tonight's RAW, I'm thinking something big will happen. No doubt, they will try to outperform their WM 22 match and will have a great match. ECW may interfere. However, the biggest rumor currently circulating is this:

*FOLEY HEEL TURN*. Current rumors are saying that WWE pretty much think Foley's current face routine is played out and that a heel turn would help. I, for one, think this is exactly what Foley has been needing. He's been a comical face too long and hasn't played the serious heel since 1998.

I'm also thinking the way Foley will turn is by joining ECW. Cactus Jack in ECW=Greatness!

1) Source?
2) Interesting

McLegend 05-08-2006 06:03 PM

Meltzer did report it today.

Here's another spoiler from PWI about Raw that I don't want to waste a new thread on(highlight)

by Dave Scherer @ 5:56:00 PM on 5/8/2006

I am not sure where it will be used, but I have heard from people at Raw that there is a cage there and it will be used on tonight's show.

McLegend 05-08-2006 06:08 PM

Cool I guess

Mister Sinister 05-08-2006 06:18 PM

Okay...First off, what would really be a point of a Foley Heel Turn, He maybe makes 8 Apperances a year in WWE at most...and Turning him heel against, The Second best heel, if not the best one on Raw (All depending on your point of view on HHH/Edge)

Kinda doesn't make sense to me...

And I hardly doubt this match will be, any better then the one at Mania...That match was insanely great in my mind, and well this is a free show and not a ppv, so I don't expect it to be on the same field as there match 2 months ago.

Cactus Sid 05-08-2006 06:53 PM

Well Foley has apparently pitched a big idea to McMahon about the direction of the his character, so that would suggest a heel turn

Xero 05-08-2006 07:09 PM

Holy shit!

HUGE Spoilers from PWInsider. Highlight.

I just got word from a good source backstage at Raw that Mick Foley's Hardcore match with Edge will turn into a Three Way Dance and will involve Tommy Dreamer. My guess is that it will be the start of the heel turn for Foley that Mike and I talked about on the hotline today.

Volchok 05-08-2006 07:12 PM

Why though... that makes no sense...

Volchok 05-08-2006 07:14 PM

Wait threeway with him in the match, or threeway with another wrestler and he helps Foley?

Xero 05-08-2006 07:14 PM

If Foley joins ECW it'd make complete sense. It will be a fresh character for ECW and Heyman to mold into something even greater than Foley already is.

Volchok 05-08-2006 07:26 PM

I know it'd make sense.. I just wanna know where TD comes into the picture...

Xero 05-08-2006 07:27 PM

That was actually to your first response, you posted as I was typing...

Volchok 05-08-2006 07:33 PM

Oh... But still I wanna know where TD falls in all this? It would make zero sense if he was in the match. But who else would fit into the match? DAMN YOU WWE!

Innovator 05-08-2006 07:35 PM

Spoiler, highlight to read

DREAMER! DREAMER! DREAMER!

He's one one the most known non-active ECW workers that the WWE has under contract. And he's most known for ECW.

It's obviously to build up ECW.

Think I said ECW enough in this post? ECW!

Volchok 05-08-2006 07:41 PM

I'm actully interested for Raw tonight. We have this whole Foley/Edge thing going on with the twists and turns, The aftermath of what's gonna happen to Triple H after walking out of the match last week, The IC fourway match, more DX teases, more ECW teases. Oh boy it'll be a good one...hopefully.

Boondock Saint 05-08-2006 07:43 PM

Yeah I'm looking forward to it as well. First time in a while. I also don't have to work tonight so I finally get to be home for the first hour.

Volchok 05-08-2006 07:46 PM

Damn I haven't been this excited for Raw in a damn long time.

Joey Slugs 05-08-2006 07:54 PM

Highlight to read:

I would imagine that Dreamer gets involved somehow thanks to Styles or Paul E. tonight.

Harry Peters 05-09-2006 12:34 AM

If you want to know what happend in that Triple Threat its on wwe.com

Corkscrewed 05-09-2006 03:23 AM

***SPOILERS IN COMMENTS***

Wow, I look forward to the explanation to see what route Foley chose. He might play on that one angle where he turned all anti-hardcore in ECW cuz the fans "didn't appreciate him" or something like that, or maybe he'll say that he was the original innovator of violence, and Dreamer took his credit.

I dunno, but I thought it was pretty interesting. Foley joining ECW would have made the most sense, so we'll see where this goes. Woulda been more dastardly if Dreamer had been on TV for a while, rather than brought in to be swerved.

Dave Youell 05-09-2006 05:03 AM

Or this could just be for Dreamer Vs Foley at one night stand

Kane Knight 05-09-2006 09:45 AM

So much for ECW being the "heels."

hb2k 05-09-2006 09:52 AM

My guess is that Foley says hardcore wrestling made him a hospital patient, and sports entertainment (remember he used Socko) made him a millionaire. Maybe this sets up Sports Entertainment Mick Foley Vs. The Lord of the Hardcores Terry Funk at One Night Stand.

Kane Knight 05-09-2006 10:01 AM

Commercial mick foley?

How is that a heel turn though?

That did that once already last year, when the roster comes into play they are going to need heels right off the bat or they would be up the creek without a paddle.

With the roster they are going to have there's a few guys who would be the heels:

The FBI
Mike Awesome (if he signs)
Justin Credible
Lance Storm
Foley

Kane Knight 05-09-2006 10:08 AM

What are you trying to say?

I think that he thinks that you were pointing out how someone from ECW is a heel in Mick Foley, as opposed to talking about Tommy Dreamer not being a heel, which is what I thought you were talking about.

That's why I liked the angle. The previous week, Joey Styles' rant on the fans made it look like ECW was going to be the heels. But now we have a sympathetic ECW babyface in Tommy Dreamer, so I guess the fans can will make up their own minds about who's face and who's heel.

And Vince will ignore them and make all of ECW heel, anyway.

Xero 05-09-2006 12:19 PM

The dead crowd response, especially for Dreamer made me uneasy. Hopefully it was just a retarded crowd.

After all, they couldn't figure out how to chant "ECW" instead of "RVD".

Least Loopy's clued in (And the Pep, who got their first, but specifically the Styles promo last week is what I was on about, and the reaction).

Everyone was assuming ECW was going to be a heel promotion and all, but Foley teaming up with Edge pretty much MAKES him a heel. If there was any doubt in Foley beating on Dreamer, it is dispelled by him kissing Lita's hand (He's no longer allowed to blade in the ring, BTW) and shaking Edge's. The only real question is: Does he remain an effective heel? People love Foley. I can't imagine him getting a lot of heel heat.

They probably figured he wanted the regular "E-C-Dub" chant.

The Foley/Edge beatdown on Tommy Dreamer should have been saved for a show on the East Coast because there was almost no reaction to Dreamer or RVD's request for ECW chants. Honestly, very few of the people in the crowd were watching when ECW was in business and I don't recall it being on TV here in CA.

There was no sympathy for Dreamer and confusion/rip off feeling as to why Foley & Edge worked together.

Biggest Pop

Triple H
Cena
Shawn Michaels
Big Show
Rey Mysterio (on screens)

Most Heat

Vince McMahon
Cena
Sprit Squad
Matt Striker

The kids really like Carlito and Armando Alejandro Estrada's introduction of himself. "Oohs & ahs" for Umaga's offense.

Pretty much anything not involving Triple H & Cena was met with crickets.

Bunch of Vermaats...

hb2k 05-09-2006 01:31 PM

It was California, about as West Coast as you get...ECW was East and North-east based. It will be fine in a couple of weeks.

hb2k 05-09-2006 01:33 PM

^ ^ I really should have read PWInsider. Oh well, at least it confirmed it.

Kane Knight 05-09-2006 01:33 PM

" There was no sympathy for Dreamer and confusion/rip off feeling as to why Foley & Edge worked together."

Anyone else NOT surprised?

Team Sheep 05-09-2006 01:51 PM

The crowd seemed pretty dead all night to be honest. :|

Corkscrewed 05-09-2006 03:07 PM

Yeah... WWE should think about their show dates before next year's ONS and try to get places where people will care.
