What kind of relation did these big time wwe superstars shared outside the ring ?

Initially did not like each other but gradually gained respect and eventually became very good friends.

I dont know about becoming really good friends because Austin did have alot of heat with Rock early on but they did have a lot of respect for each other later on.

Austin said to the Rock after thier last wm match that he "loves him for everything that he has done for him" (It didnt make it to air but I think it might be in the deleated scenes).

I find it intresting that Austin is seen to have a poor reputation behind the scenes but Ive read in interviews that he still keeps in regular contact with Hart, Jericho, Christian and he was the first one willing to put Eddie over.

Rock I believe said that he told Austin that he loved him on the WrestleMania 19 documentary.

When they sang together on Raw in 2001, it seemed pretty clear then.

I'm pretty sure that Austin's "WHAT" came from a voice mail message he was leaving Christian.
