ECW Refs Released, More On Big ECW Meeting

Several of the old ECW referees are already on the way out.

There was a meeting between Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn, and Paul Heyman in regards to changes being made with ECW. A decision has been made to move away from all of the old ECW concepts, characters, fans and everything else. Instead, ECW will just be another brand for WWE, simply with the ECW name. In McMahon's eyes, the old ECW fan base is dead and largely gone, and he's going to go forward with things with that in mind. The crowd's behavior at last Saturday's ECW house show really changed his mind on things.

We all know that ECW was brought back to be TNA competition, but since they hate TNA & ECW's styles, ECW will continue to become a shitty breeding ground for jobbers. I think vince wont be too devestated if ECW fails.

They should turn Velocity and Heat into their own brands too.

It's too bad. I knew this was coming, I knew Paul would never get control, and I knew that Vince would invariably make this a separate brand dedicated to precisely what Velocity and Heat were, but damn if I'm not still disappointed by the rather horrendous way this has gone.

It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion, hoping that the bloody thing would just right itself before it came off the tracks, only for it to skip the rails entirely and crash into that busload of nuns.

Again, so much for this being an alternative to WWE. Fuck Vince Mcmahon, he's just creating another WWE incase his current one continues its slow death.

Yeah, they should just scrap ECW. Things would be more interesting with Big Show and Kurt Angle on SmackDown!, The FBI on RAW and Joey Styles/Tazz replacing Jonathan Coachman/Steve Romero as commentators. Bring back Velocity, have it mean something (same with Heat, for God sake, no one likes recap shows) and use your talent correctly.

How are the ratings going for ECW? Unfortunately, come the twelve weeks, if they are still solid, we'll probably have ECW for a few years or so. If they are decreasing each week, hopefully we don't have to see ECW fucked over.

Yeah 3 non ECW guys won last week on the show. (Knox,Test, Big Show)

Instead of ruining the ECW name they should have just called it WWE Extreme or something like that.

Haven't seen a show but is it even extreme? I think they're just pissing on the name if they don't make it like the old ECW. It'd be like bringing back WCW and having it exactly like the WWE.

When has that stopped them in the past?
