Official 2006 All-Star game thread

Discuss future's game, home-run derby, how the NL is going to get spanked yadda yadda yadda here.

Also: glad to see Liriano gets in.

ClockShot 07-10-2006 05:41 PM

Ozzie Guillen is heading up the American League right? I'd like to see what he has to say.

RoXer 07-10-2006 05:42 PM

Actually I think hes going to a Madonna concert tomorrow

RoXer 07-10-2006 05:42 PM

Oh man I kill me

ct2k 07-10-2006 06:11 PM

Doesn't he go Bandido with his uzi on some fags on tuesday nights?

RoXer 07-10-2006 07:00 PM

No. Why would he do that?

RoXer 07-10-2006 07:01 PM

Let me go see who is in the HR Derby so I can inaccuratley guess who will win.

RoXer 07-10-2006 07:08 PM

I'll say Cabrerra

RoXer 07-10-2006 07:08 PM

I'd actually like to switch my vote to Papelbon

weather vane 07-10-2006 07:14 PM

Ortiz will win the derby.

BCWWF 07-10-2006 07:44 PM

Do they do it like that? A tournament bracket thing? I thought all eight went and then the top two went again?

Anyway, on ESPN.com I voted for Ryan Howard so thats what I'll stay at.

McLegend 07-10-2006 11:46 PM

Howard won the Home run Derby and is on his way to becomming the next Bobby Abreu.

Corndad 07-11-2006 01:48 AM

Well, hey being a Pirate Fan, can say this... Atleast our Stadium is great lol. I hope Howard doesnt turn out like Abreu, but all the theorist that blame the HRD for him falling off the Earth, thats just ridiculous.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-11-2006 02:34 AM

Ortiz put like 5 balls into the river

OssMan 07-11-2006 03:57 AM

freaking kid took 2 HR from david wright

D Mac 07-11-2006 05:42 AM

And another year comes that I could care less about this game.

ct2k 07-11-2006 07:15 AM

First all star game and stuff i saw was 1999 when Pedro wiped the floor with the NL and Mark McGwire hit about 200 home runs half way across Boston, that was pretty sweet even if he was blatantly injecting roids into his jeb-end

Evil Vito 07-11-2006 12:17 PM

I dunno, kinda hard to picture Brad Penny shutting down that AL lineup.

My guess is AL wins it again, but the NL could score some runs if the worst All-Star in history (Mark Redman) gets put in the game for some reason.

Yeah that was sick, I've seen a Manny Ramirez homer go further though. Bounced out onto the Mass Pike lol ridiculous

The Miz 07-11-2006 02:11 PM

Mike Piazza hit a home run out into the parking lot at Dodger Stadium (at least once, maybe twice) which is pretty ridiculous

D Mac 07-11-2006 02:23 PM

Question: They say "this game counts" and the winner gets homefield in the World Series and all, but what about some of the players that know they will not be going to the series (like Redman). Are they really playing 100%? Do they give a shit whether another player from another city that is playing with him gets homefield?

The Miz 07-11-2006 02:26 PM

None of the players are playing 100% whether they're in a race or not

I really need to make a trip to see a game there. That place looks amazing.

Gertner 07-11-2006 03:21 PM

Was Brad Lidge the pitcher for the NL during the home run derby?

My favourite Piazza moment is still him getting all hot under the collar when Clemens through the bat in the 2000 WS

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-11-2006 03:29 PM

Just read in the paper Papelbon won't be pitching tonight

All hot under the collar? That sounds like it was a bad thing that he got upset.

ct2k 07-11-2006 03:33 PM

Not at all, i just hate Mike Piazza

The Miz 07-11-2006 10:12 PM

lol Vlad. You suck Penny

The Miz 07-11-2006 10:15 PM

Rogers getting a head start on his annual second-half collapse

The Miz 07-11-2006 10:18 PM

Luckily LoDuca hits like an old asian woman

Evil Vito 07-11-2006 10:44 PM

Mets shining so far. That ball must have looked like a beachball to Wright. Beltran with great baserunning presense

MVP 07-12-2006 12:11 AM

lol Hoffman blew the save

Evil Vito 07-12-2006 12:22 AM

God, I knew that would fucking happen as soon as Konerko hit that single.

Oh well, I figured AL would win anyway...I just wish they could have made it less depressing.

Ah well, gonna try and get tix for Games 3, 4, and 5 at Shea now :shifty:

Penny was throwing gas though and you can't really blame him for that homer. Shit was like at Vlad's chin lol

Evil Vito 07-12-2006 12:58 AM

I now see why Garner sucks

How do you not put Rolen in at 3rd? :o

The Miz 07-12-2006 08:16 AM

Are you serious? Quit acting like the managers and players care
