Movies that nobody knows about

My favourite movie that very few people have actually heard of is "The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human." It's fucking hillarious and Carmen Electra makes me tug it. I suggest you guys check it out. What movies do you guys love that nobody knows of?

ct2k 07-28-2006 07:32 PM

Man Bites Dog

well people do, and it hugely influenced Quentin Tarantino, but its too sick to be praised very loudly, yknow gotta be PC and all.

But yeah its about a film crew who film the daily antics of a serial killer, its sick and hilarious at the same time :y:

Blitz 07-28-2006 07:39 PM

Some of the brits might know it, but everyone else prolly won't.

Ghostwatch. It's a british TV movie broadcast in 1992. It's supposed to be a documentary show about a haunted house. Apparently a hell of a lot of people thought it was real.

dont assume you are the only one to have done anything ever

auhs

ol dirty kung fu

Fignuts 07-29-2006 01:19 AM

That is awesome Krisp.

Equilebrium
Really good action flick that never made it to theatres. About a world where emotion, and anything that provokes emotion, like art, music, and even vibrant colors, is outlawed. In that sense, It's like 1984 with swords and kung fu.

Blitz 07-29-2006 01:29 AM

I was kinda torn on Equilibrium. The artistic direction was cool, but so clearly ripped off from the Matrix. Some of the special effects were a bit suspect, but I can forgive that since it was not a big budget. Christain Bale is the man, but director Kurt Wimmer went on to make Ultraviolet, so I kinda wanna kill him.

Also, the idea of "Gun Fu" is ridiculous. Just shoot the bastard.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-29-2006 07:16 AM

If you want a film that influenced Tarantino, track down City On Fire

KillerWolf 07-30-2006 08:52 PM

Clint Eastwood in "The Beguiled."

The One 07-30-2006 09:30 PM

The Machinist, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and most of all Taras Bulba, it was released in 1962 and I fuckin love this movie.

PapaGeorgio 07-31-2006 02:20 AM

Riki-Oh is a fucking classic, glad I own that. If you want a film you'll never forget try Pink Flamingos. Pretty popular if you are big into cult films, if not you probably haven't heard about it.

An Affair To Remember, 1957
Very few people (or at least the people that I know) have no respect for classic films.
It's a wondeful love story, but not the typical fairy tale love. All I have to say is see it. For a classic movie the acting is great, the score is very soothing, and the screenplay is awesome... and a twist that leaves you wanting more.

Maria Full Of Grace, 2004
A wonderful film from Equador about the drug trade in Columbia, centered around an 18 year old girl. Watch this movie twice. First without comentary, then with comentary.

Now this next one makes me sad because only half the people I know, know about this movie.
Now I know the title of the thread is "movies nobody knows about" but this is a movie that EVERYONE should know about.

Casablanca, 1942.
Here's looking at you, kid, 'nuf said.

Entropy Starring Stephen Dorff.

The artistic approach taken here is amazing, some great scenes and an overall awesome movie.

City of God

A fantastic foreign flick about what goes down in the slums of Rio de Janero. I've been meaning to pick it up for my library one of these days.

Boomer 07-31-2006 06:42 PM

City of God? Casablanca? The Machinist? Movies that nobody know about?

Seriously. I guess with Machinist and City of God it can be slightly understandable, with old people or something. But strictly with people on the forum, I'd say the majority of us have at least heard of them.

Boondock Saint 08-01-2006 05:55 AM

I'll throw one in:

Six-String Samurai. A Buddy Holly look-alike (named Buddy) travels through post-apocalyptic Death Valleywith his samurai sword and six string guitar, on his way to "Lost Vegas". He intends to be named the new King, since Elvis died and did not name a successor. He befriends a little kid along the way, and they face off against the Russian army, a Spinach monster, and Death (modeled after Slash of Guns n Roses).

Bad movie but good at the same time, if you know what I mean. Very enjoyable.

Skippord 08-01-2006 08:52 PM

I hate that movie so much

Invincible....with Billy Zane...Byron Mann (Ryu from the Street Fighter movie) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln from Prisonbreak...and Dracula from Blade Trinity)

It was a made for Tv movie for TBS or TNT and I remember watching it over and over again for the month they had it on...just recently found it on DVD...

Mr. Nerfect 08-06-2006 01:38 AM

I've seen a clip of that head exploding bit from Riki-Oh. Looks so sweet.

Not sure how many people have heard of it, but my friend and I were going through my unwatched collection of videos, and one of them was "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1". We expected it to be crap, but we pissed ourselves laughing throughout most of it, and have watched it multiple times since then.

"Looks like a suicide"
"Hmm, must've caught herself by surprise"

It's got pretty much everyone in it, so I'd say people have heard of it. Love the move, though.

Bricktop 08-06-2006 01:45 AM

ichi the killer uncut. - a pretty brutal, yet well done movie about a gang's violent search for their missing boss and a supposed super assassin named ichi. The reality of it all is far more complex and weird.

ct2k 08-06-2006 09:33 AM

Ichi the killer is easily one of the sickest films ever

The only part that bothered me, and I'm going to let you in on some movie magic here, is:

When he is practicing in the rain and he's all mad they killed his friand, they use a techno crane which shows the ground for a couple of hundred feet.. You can see the footprint of the raintower.. Like, you can see where the fake rain stops.. Movie rain only works if you A) cover all the area of ground that is shown or B) do not show the ground at all..

Other than that, it is immense..

Dave Youell 08-07-2006 05:54 AM

The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human is fucking brilliant.

Divorcing Jack is an Irish Comedy which has a special plae in my heart

The one armed boxer 2, just the title alone makes it great
