Final Fantasy Players Unite!
Unite and tell me what the fuck is fun about any of those games.
|
FF6 has an awesome storyline, characters who are easily to like, lots of hidden shittt, and of course the best soundtrack of any video game ever. FF7 is kinda cool too. Tactics is awesome. Don't care abotu the rest. (5 is good.)
|
This thread sounds pretty gay but...
I have beaten 1 7 8 9 10 and am working on 2. Minus 3, which will be coming out soon for the first time in America, I'm pretty sure I have played all of them before. 4 (which I knew as 2) was one of my favorite SNES games growing up. I got to the last dungeon, but running away from battles all game pretty much fucked up everything. I couldn't even make it to the final boss. The formula hasn't changed much throughout the years, but I think most of the games are pretty fun. |
Uhhhh, good characters, good gameplay, good story?
|
Can you tell me how is "you hit me, then I'll hit you," fun? And the dialogue could get no worse. And having tipical anime staples good charecters a game makes not.
|
Okay let's try this, you tell me some shitty gmae you like, and I'll tell you why FF is better

Can you tell me how "running around, pressing the right trigger, and sometimes the left trigger to throw gernades, and sometimes pressing B to hit people" in Halo games is so fucking fun? Seriously, 10 mins of Halo, and i'm already bored, and no, it's not because i'm bad at it. Any Final Fantasy game I put in and play, even the one's i've beat 2 or 3 times, don't get boring for hours. Why? Because there is alot of things in any Final Fantasy game, that games like Halo don't have, GOOD story lines, GOOD characters(yes I said it, Master Cheif sucks donkey nuts), and countless other things I don't feel like listing. |
Here's the deal Destor.
The FF games (By games, I mean 6 and 7 especially because those are the really good ones) are only fun if you like RPGs. If you dont' liek RPGs because of turn based battle systems and alot of dialog, you won't like the FF series. Like wise, I love suikoden 1,2,3 and 5. if you don't like RPGS though, I don't imagine you'd like them. |
final fantasy tactics is the bomb though, its still a "you hit me i hit you" kind of thing i guess but the system is totally different.
PS just use like 3 red chocobos plus orlandu in your party and you wont lose :shifty: |

I love Tactics as well, but Orlandu srsly makes the game a cakewalk once you get him. More fun to just play without him in your party tbh. |
Tactics is the fucking man. And if you think Orlandu is cheap, try using a Gameshark to hack your own character classes. Fun as hell.
|
Really, if you don't like the turn based RPG genre, then I'm not going to waste my time telling you why you should play this game.
I can't stand shooters, but I know why people love Halo 2. |

Anyhow, if its not real time then, what they gay. RPG's are fantastic, but watching my so called "hero" stand their and get hit isn't exactly emasculating.

I think your best bet would be to pick up a copy, give it some time, get a little into the game/story, and see for yourself.
Maybe go to ign.com or gamespot.com and watch their video reviews on some of the Final Fantasy games. |
Yeah I never got Turn Based RPG's either
|
Just give blade grasp to all your guys in FFT and laugh as they all become virtual gods. Orlandu + blade grasp = lawl.
The only time I ever remember losing after getting Orlandu was when I was fighting in some watery area and these squid guys started casting area of effect berserk on all my clustered guys and Orlandu proceeded to beat the fuck out of me. Then he got petrified I think. Anyways, RPGs are interactive movies for the most part. It's less about playing a game as it is doing simple tasks/puzzles (whether that be figuring out the combination to open a door or using ice spells on fire based monsters, etc) to progress the story. If that's not your cup of tea, then don't pick up this game. You move, talk, occasionally click shit and have a handful of battle commands. Not exactly the poster child for deep, skillful gameplay. Good enough for me though. |

Nobody can "sell" it to you. Just play the damn game, and if you don't like it, stop.
|
I think they are amazing games for the most part, I don't care for all of them, 6,7,8, and to a certain extent 9 are my favorites.
I don't consider the turn-based battles a great selling point because yeah, a lot of people would find it boring. I love the storylines, the dialogue, and the soundtracks most of all. The atmosphere as a whole throughout FF7 was incredible, that was the first RPG I actually took time to check out as much of it as I could, talk to most NPCs and such. |

I don't think I've ever used monsters in my party in Tactics.
|
I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for here. I don't particularly see how one would be persuaded to start liking something based on some random statements. You're clearly interested because of its popularity, but you seem to, at the same time, crap on statements people have made. Why not just try one of the games (6 is considered the best, unless you're a total fanboy, in which case, 7 is consider the best bcuz seppy is soooo dream:love: ) in some shape or form, and make up your own mind?
Stop me if I'm talking sense here. I don't know, the rabid fanbase is the one that I find least indicative myself. |

But man, fuck using monsters. I don't even keep them on my roster at all. |
I have several, but none spark my interest. I play, I fall asleep, I wake up, and I move on. If I can figure out the intrigue in this franchise maybe I can see what I'm missing. At least before I settle on a "they suck" attitude would like to know what the people are drooling about. So far I can't find ONE entertaining quality among the FF games I've played.
|
We've told you what we like about them. It's not like there's some secret quality in all of them that we found. There's nothing we can say that'll make you go "Oh, okay. Yes, these games are awesome". You either connect with them or you don't.
If nothing about them thus far has intrigued you, then stop playing. It's like someone trying to tell you that a particular band is the greatest of all time. If you don't like that band, you don't listen to every song they've ever made and try to figure out this magical quality, just accept that it's not your thing and move on. |
Quote:
Unless you've liked everything else the masses love, this shouldn't be confusing. |
It's Kingdom Hearts mostly. The characters seemed intriguing. Until I played the games. Just thought maybe I was missing something.
|
Fair enough. I just think either you "get it," or you don't. It's not like it's an intelligence thing, or whatever, but really, a preference.
|
I thought I wasn't "getting it."
|
My descision: Final Fantasy is lame. What a waist of a thread...
|
So basically you were just playing Devil's advocate and thinking you were some tough shit for making fun of Final Fantasy fans on the internet. Internet tough guys are serious businesssssss
