Moneen - The Red Tree
 

If you haven't heard of these guys, now is the time to get into them, because they are gonna get big in the emo scene soon, if this album is any indication. Trips got me into Moneen about two years ago or something, but they never particularly "wowed" me. Skip forward to two nights ago when I perchance was reading an article about the album. Curiosity got the better of me and I gave the album a download.

I was completely blown away. Moneen have come a long way in a short time, and now present you with an album that has not only complex ferocity in spades (the bassline to If Tragedy's Appealing, Then Disaster's an Addiction is incredible; Don't Ever Tell Locke What He Can't Do), but also restrained beauty (The East Has Stolen What The West May Want/This Is All Bigger Than Me/There Are A Million Reasons For Why This May Not Work... ). There is not a bad song to be found. A little bit Circa Survive, A little bit The Get Up Kids, The Red Tree is an excellent release for anybody who likes super-ep emo rock anthems.

I love it, but I do prefer "Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now?"... just a personal peference I guess.

Yeah Moneen is amazing. I saw them play at Warped Tour and it was awesome.

I've been a pretty big Moneen fan for a few years now. I own everything they've released. They never fail to impress me whenever I see them live.

They played a show here back in May... Actually, two shows in one day. Before their full show with Saves the Day, Kenny and Hippy played an acoustic show at an indie record shop. There were at most 40 people there and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Their full show later that night was awesome too.

They signed posters after thier acoustic set and gave out a lot of hugs. I asked Kenny if he could make my poster out to my friend Ebay. He laughed.

I'm glad you did not smash our cd after getting it. Say hi to Ebay for me.



Yeah, and the Red Tree is a very good album. I still prefer their first two albums over this one, but it's still very good.

I just had a huge car trip where I listened to this CD a couple times through. I was REALLY impressed with it. It's definitely on par with their other released stuff. Definitely a good CD to listen to.
