So I Just Ordered Tekken 5

Pump me up for it, like what cool shit can you do on it?

Blitz 08-02-2006 03:54 PM

Raven=The Man.

Just John 08-02-2006 03:58 PM

Is that the new ninja guy?

Blitz 08-02-2006 04:01 PM

Yeah.

He is like Wesley Snipes, 'cept more badass.

Funky Fly 08-03-2006 01:42 PM

Literally endless combos with Eddy Gordo, Christie and Asuka (but Asuka's aren't as customizable). Crazy slam combos and submissions with King and Craig Marduk. Feng Wei (Kenpo guy in a red suit) is bad ass.

Oh, you can save money from running through Story mode or Tekken Force mode and spend it buying 3rd outfits or editing current ones.

Just John 08-03-2006 03:59 PM

Is there a way to remove julia changs clothes?

Kalyx triaD 08-03-2006 04:43 PM

Julia? Christie and Asuka are hotter.

Just John 08-03-2006 04:56 PM

I havent seen them yet, but Julia is easily the hottest videogame character

Funky Fly 08-04-2006 02:04 AM

Oh, BTW, by Tekken Force mode, I meant the crappified Jin only game they replaced Tekken Force mode with. Sorry.

Just John 08-04-2006 10:46 AM

Yeah, I heard about that :(

Does anyone even play as Jin? :?:

Boomer 08-04-2006 11:57 AM

Jin is pretty powerful, but I'm all about Lei Wulong.

Fignuts 08-04-2006 09:04 PM

Devil jin is in as well. Plays like a combonation of devil and tekken 3 jin.

Them game itself feels a lot closer to tekken 3 than 4. Which is good in my opinion. Lots of returning characters like baek, ganryu, wang, and anna.

Cheap as mother fucking boss in jinpachi.

Boomer 08-04-2006 09:25 PM

Yeah Jinpachi is my only problem with the game. He is so ridiculous. I never want to play it in the arcades for that reason.

Skippord 08-05-2006 01:21 AM

King is the best

Just John 08-05-2006 12:50 PM

I always use Law..most of the time..

I got Tekken 5 today, and I gotta say its fucking good, but Jinpache is a fat motherfucker of a boss, he's so hard its not even funny, you try to do something and he shoots and assfull of fire at you, I've only beaten him with Law and Raven.

Customisation is good, mabye a waste of time though, as for the arcade ones, they're pretty hilarious. Law looks like a cross between an emo and Jackie chan.

Dave Youell 08-07-2006 06:30 AM

I always use devil jin

Only because I was the man with Jin in Tekken 3, then they turned him Gay.

Paul Phoenix to this day is by far the easiest player to play with, you can kill a guy with 3 moves

Fignuts 08-07-2006 09:23 AM

Gonna get dark ressurection.

Fignuts 08-07-2006 09:25 AM

Jin was insanewly unbalanced in 4. If you knew how to use him, you could wipe the floor with anyone. Once did a team battle. Jin was my first guy and I knocked out all 8 of his fighters with just him.

Kalyx triaD 08-07-2006 02:01 PM

I'm badass with Christie.

And I don't mash the kick buttons. Also in my camp is Lei, Law, Devil Jin, and Asuka.

Boomer 08-07-2006 02:10 PM

Lei is just ridiculous with the amount of ways you can attack. He can be very hard to predict.

Kalyx triaD 08-07-2006 02:17 PM

It's funny, I've been so one dimensional with him lately. I barely use his stances anymore; I just cycle through with Drunken Fist and Back Turned stances and work from there. I rely on Play Dead alot, but people catch on. I'm going through the same phase I had with Maxi in Soul Calibur 2 when everyone just won't fall for stuff anymore. If history's any indication, my Lei will be back to form by Tekken 6.

I'm loving Law right now, he's my new sub-boss before you get to challenge Christie. 66LK is your wake-up call.

Blitz 08-07-2006 02:18 PM

Yeah, I'm pretty damn good with Christie/Eddy as well.

And no mashing.

Kalyx triaD 08-07-2006 02:49 PM

Christie: Queen of the While-Rising attack game. Atleast for me. More than half the time I'm crouching.

Just John 08-08-2006 01:14 PM

I thought I was really good with law and shit, I was like "I can almost get a perfect against anyone" then I realised my difficulty is set to easy, any tips on how to get good?

Oh yeah, I'm warming up to that new Feng Wei guy, I got him dressed like law, all black and shades (matrix_style).

If tekken 6 is online, we should have a big TPWW iron fist tourney

Kalyx triaD 08-09-2006 11:58 AM

My only tips for getting better is Training Mode and experience. Get familier with moves and their properties so you don't have to think about them in a match. Play the comp on Hard to enhance reflexes. Play people alot. DO NOT mistake some gay 8-hit juggle for skill.

Terms to Remember:

Counter Hits (Move properties change on CH)
While Rising (Very important to me anyway)

Just John 08-09-2006 12:04 PM

Yeah, I can take out alot of people with Law easily, but I always use the same 3 moves, which as effective as it is, its real boring so I'm trying to think of ways I can weave other ones in.

Kalyx triaD 08-09-2006 12:16 PM

Find all of his Backflip Kick variations, usually after a seperate kick. He goes into Crouch after the backflips so there's your WR game there. Or you could hold down after the flip and use a Crouched attack (like 323LK, a surprising baseball slide).

Learning the moves is like abstract paint; it splashes on your brain and takes a while before it settles. But before you know it it's art.

Just John 08-09-2006 12:20 PM

I just use the power kicks, (back, back X) (forward forward X) then I'll use the running kick. (I say forward and back because it can depend on which way you are facing)

Although recently I have been using the fakie somersault to high kick. I was thinking of using guard training as practice for timing the frogman just right to avoid sweeps, would that work?

Jaton 08-09-2006 12:34 PM

How can you people encourage T5? Ugh.

3d in general sucks. SF3: Third Strike > 3d fighters

Kalyx triaD 08-09-2006 12:36 PM

Frogman is a SS(Side Step) move, so it wouldn't hop over lows fast enough. Law's actually good for blocking low anyway; if your opponant is recovering from the sweep, you could chew 'em up good.

66LK does rule.

Do you use the 2LP+RP(Down + Both Punches) stance? It's the same as the 4LP+RP step animation but... more stable. Give them a try.

Side step move? I think I might be thinking of something else, I meant the one where he bounces backwards into a kip up.

Kalyx triaD 08-09-2006 01:07 PM

Oh shit, you're right. That SSLK+RK looks like a frog-something...

That kipup's better for head games when someone rushes you and you stay down. I still wouldn't prefer it for jumping lows. Maybe a jumping LP if they're doing a standing low attack.

Just John 08-09-2006 01:14 PM

I just wanna take peopl out in style, and I saw that move in a few Jackie Chan films and thought it'd be really cool to put in, you know like

*High block block block block*

then they go for a low sweep to catch me out but

*frog thing*

outwit them in style

I would almost agree with that, except for Soul Calibur.

3rd Strike, however=

Jaton 08-09-2006 06:23 PM

Okay okay, not all 3d fighters are bad. I enjoy SC as well, and I used to really be into DOA competitively, then I just kind of stopped caring once the crap that is DOA4 came out.

Kalyx triaD 08-12-2006 03:18 PM

DOA4: Hi Res Meh (It has it's moments but meh)

What Would Kevin Do? 08-12-2006 03:25 PM

You know who I love.

Feng.

Feng owns your soul....

It's a shame they made him less godly in DS ( I haven't played the psp version, but I played the actual arcade version while in Japan, and they weakened him a lot)

Jaton 08-12-2006 03:45 PM

Tekken 5: Lo Res crap.

Jaton 08-12-2006 03:46 PM

In fact, the only reason to ever play the game is because Julia Chang is awesome in character design.

So awesome I wish she were in Soul Calibur or DOA or something else, so I wouldn't have to play such a shit game in order to use her.
