Because wrestlers were portrayed as superheroes back in the day in a way when it was marketed for children.

Also, the fact that they wear the same kind of clothes in amateur wresting probably has something to do with it.

Because they are terribly comfortable, they don't restrict movement, and it makes it REAL easy to pick up chicks. And I'm speaking from experience.
