Whoa, I had no idea....Rob Zombie is doing a remake of Halloween

Dimension Films has set an October 19, 2007 release date for Rob Zombie's new version of the classic 1978 horror film "Halloween".

Zombie recently said that his movie won't be a sequel to the original film, but he left the details a little vague. Would the movie then be a prequel or a straight remake? Zombie told Launch that his "Halloween" will be a little bit of both. "I basically went back and just came up with the idea of basically — not essentially a remake, but a very extended prequel sort of combined with an update, say, of the first film," he said. "You're starting from scratch but in sort of a more detailed way. That's the way I thought it would be exciting for fans of the original, because it's not just the same old thing, and it would be exciting for people that never saw the original."

The original "Halloween" was directed by John Carpenter and followed a masked murderer named Michael Myers who comes back to his hometown to begin a new killing spree decades after being committed to an asylum.

Zombie said that other characters from the original, in addition to Myers, would appear in his script, which is in its early stages.

Production on the film could begin later this year.

Dunno about this...

I have high hopes for it and been looking forward to it since I heard about it.

Yeah, Halloween is one of the few horror movies that is perfect and still affective today.

However, since it is being done nonetheless, I have confidence in Zombie. He may not be the best director (although I do enjoy both House of 1k Corpses and Devil's Rejects a lot), he does have a huge respect for the horror genre. I think he will treat the previous with respect.

I think it will be awesome.

OverTaker 08-11-2006 09:39 PM

I have all the Halloween Movies and even the one that didn't have to do with Michael Myers. Hope this movie does well.

Trailer looks pretty damn good.

Destor 04-08-2007 10:58 PM

Loooks like it will be in the same boat as Devils Rejcts. :y:

Destor 04-08-2007 10:58 PM

(I.E. average to terrible)

The Devil's Rejects was amazing. Shut up Destor.

Destor 04-08-2007 11:43 PM

Nah, House of a 1,000 Corpses was amazing. Devil's Rejects was a peice of shit.

Boondock Saint 04-09-2007 12:03 AM

Looks like shit.

Champion of Europa 04-09-2007 12:08 AM

I loved Rejects and House.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-09-2007 12:22 AM

Rejects > House

Destor has obviously fallen and hitten his head on some sort of bad judgement block.

Destor 04-09-2007 12:29 AM

NAHHHHHHHHHHH. Kev clearly has a case of poor tasteitus.

I call shenanigans on both Destor on Fignuts. In fact, I think they're either the same account, gay lovers in cahoots, or CC.

In case you're wondering how I came to this conclusion, it is because no real, sane person can have an opinion that differs from mine.

Fignuts 04-09-2007 08:48 AM

Well, I am pretty zany.

KingofOldSchool 04-09-2007 08:52 AM

I love both of those movies.

BigDaddyCool 04-09-2007 10:43 AM

Why the fuck can't people make original movies anymore. Every horror moive that has come out lately is a remake. House of 1000 Corpses was just Texas Chain Saw Massacre 2, the there was the 2 other Texas Chain Saw Massarces, The Hills have Eyes, and to get techincal the Grudge and the Ring are remakes of Japanese horror movies. The only one that springs to mind that ins't a remake is the Saw Trilogy.

ron the dial 04-09-2007 12:14 PM

I generally do not look forward to horror remakes, as they usually don't add enough to the movie to have made it worth my while. That being said, I am actually interested in seeing this. I love the original Halloween, and trust it in the hands of Rob Zombie. Like it was said before, he has a huge amount of respect for the horror genre so I don't foresee him fucking this up.

And to weigh in on this issue, House of a 1000 Corpses > Devil's Rejects.

FakeLaser 04-09-2007 06:31 PM

I bet it sucks. I love horror films (and bad horror films) and I can't really stomach Zombie's.

Inadequacy 04-09-2007 07:15 PM

When I watched "House O' corpses" all I could think was "DOOD! That's Dwight from the office!"

Mr. Nerfect 04-14-2007 08:17 AM

I'm kind of worried that Zombie won't be able to keep the film quiet enough to really deliver a horror classic. I guess it doesn't need to be, though, but...mmm.

Zombie has a lot of respect for the horror genre, true, but he's not the most talented of directors. I think he would work so much better if he created his own film about a psychopath who gets on the loose and slices up people.

Skippord 04-14-2007 05:46 PM

I bet it will be good

also Rejects > House
